5 Reasons to Love Autumn
The darker nights are slowly returning, temperatures are dropping, and the leaves are starting to fall… Autumn is quickly approaching and we can’t wait! From colourful landscapes to the build up to Christmas, there are so many reasons why we’re approaching the best season of all, and we’ve listed the top 5 reasons to love autumn.
1.) Cosy nights in
Northumberland is a beautiful county to explore no matter what the weather, but there’s nothing better than getting back to a warm and welcoming cottage after a busy to exploring. You’ll love nothing more than cosying up in front of an open fire with loved ones and warming your cockles with a mug hot chocolate. Here at Coquet Cottages, many of our cottages offer real fireplaces and wood burners – perfect for a romantic break.
2.) Beautiful nature
With the leaves on the trees changing to beautiful shades of red, golden yellow and orange, the colours at this time of year makes for postcard-perfect photographs. Whether you’re taking a brisk walk along one of the sandy beaches or crunching through leaves in the local countryside and woodland, you’ll find plenty of wildlife around, too – from the grey seals of Coquet Island to the roe deer at Northumberland National Park!
3.) Comfortable clothing
There’s nothing better than digging out your favourite wooly jumpers or snuggling up in a fluffy onesie. With the colder autumn weather comes comfy clothing! Wrap up warm with hats and scarves before taking a walk in the crisp autumn air.
Dressing up as ridiculous as you like, testing your pumpkin carving skills and indulging in lots of sweets… Everyone loves the excitement Halloween brings. You’ll love reminiscing over childhood trick-or-treating memories and watching your loved ones join in the fun too!
5.) Christmas is coming
The school summer holidays are over, the autumn weather is colder and the countdown to Christmas begins. If you’re staying at one of our cottages this festive season, there’s lots of Christmas events to enjoy from November, including the Christmas light switch on in Morpeth and The Winter Light Trail at The Alnwick Garden.
