October Half Term Activities in Northumberland
From sight-seeing to fun-packed activities, there’s plenty to inspire you to get out and about in Northumberland. With over 100 cottages across the county, Coquet Cottages offers the perfect base to get back to after a busy day exploring. To help you get the most out of your stay, we’ve listed some of the best places to visit and things to do this October Half Term.
Halloween events at Whitehouse Farm
There’s lots going on at Whitehouse Farm this October and we dare you to visit! From the Ghostly Grim Grotto to Magic Merlin’s School at the Halloween Spooktacular and Spooky Afternoon Tea, there’s lots to keep you entertained all day. Plus, admission to the farm is included in your ticket price, where you can meet meerkats, owls, farm animals and more!
Address: Whitehouse Farm Centre, Morpeth, NE61 6AW
Take a boat trip
If you’re staying at one of our properties in Seahouses or the surrounding area, we highly recommend taking a boat trip to The Farne Islands. Every autumn, the island sees over 1000 seal pups born, and is currently home to the second largest colony of grey seals in the country – so there’s plenty to see on a trip!
Address: Billy Shiel’s Booking Office, Seahouses, NE68 7SJ
Learn the key skills needed to survive with a bushcraft day at Kielder. From building a shelter to lighting a fire and cooking on it, you’ll gain so many great skills from this informative day out. Choose from a full day (7 hours) or a half day (3.5 hours) course – it’s the perfect activity to keep teens entertained!
Address: Kielder Castle, Kielder, NE48 1ER
Ghoulish Garden at The Alnwick Garden
Take a spooky trail around the Ghoulish Garden in search of creepy creatures and expect lots of frights and crafts. It’s a great day out for the whole family to enjoy and get into the Halloween spirit! What’s more, there’ll be potion making and wands to protect you.
Address: The Alnwick Garden, Alnwick, NE66 1YU
