Guest Feedback for Coquet Cottage

Our visitors’ book at Coquet Cottage is great to read through over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and provide a wealth of recommendations on the best places to eat and visit, as well as some useful tips to benefit other guests. We also send Guest Surveys to all our guests after their holiday and some of their comments are listed here too.

Many guests have listed recommendations for the same lovely places, such as Warkworth Beach, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Barter Books, Holy Island and the Farnes, but for the sake of avoiding repetition in this particular format, we have omitted these recommendations, but they can still be read in full in the visitors’ books in Coquet Cottage.

Where to stay near Rothbury, The Anglers Arms Weldon Bridge food and accommodation, self-catering holiday cottages Northuberland for couples

The cottage was gorgeous, really well equipped for cooking etc. The bed was really comfy and we really appreciated the outdoor space and easy parking. The decor was very pretty and tasteful.
We couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome!

We have had a lovely break at this lovely, very well appointed cottage. Excellent welcome basket much appreciated and the fresh flowers were also a nice touch. The Anglers Arms was very handy, friendly staff and good pub food. We come to Northumberland regularly and usually stay on the coast so it was a change to stay inland. Our highlights –Wallington – beautiful walled garden and river walks. Hexham Races – good fun if you back a winner or two! Brinkburn Priory – worth a visit. Very atmospheric. Howick Hall Gardens – our favourite gardens and the best tea room. Our favourite this trip was a trek with the Alpacas at Berhope Farm near Jedburgh. Something completely different and a very calming experience to spend an afternoon walking at alpaca pace.

A wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage. More than we could have hoped for and a perfect location for exploring Northumberland.
The cottage was spotless, with all the facilities here (Lorraine & Paul have thought of everything). Visited many places during our trip particularly enjoying the walk along the coast from Craster to Low Newton and back. Wish we could have stayed longer. Hope to return in the future. Thank you.

We have had a wonderful stay in your beautiful cottage. The Welcome Pack, wine and flowers were a delightful thought thank you so much. The cottage has everything you need and more. We will be recommending to our friends and family to pay you a visit, we will be back. The Anglers Arms we visited and enjoyed our meals there.

What an enjoyable stay we’ve had in your delightful cottage – so full of character and lovely little touches. You really have thought of everything to make the cottage a ‘home from home’. We’ve had some wonderful days out. Embleton Beach – stunning. Cragside – really interesting house and beautiful grounds. Barter Bookshop in Alnwick, a gem if you love reading. Rothbury – lovely to meander around and sit by the river. Thank you Lorraine for your warm welcome and delicious welcome pack – it has been a pleasure to meet you.

We have really enjoyed our stay here in this lovely cottage. Thank you for the Welcome Pack, the flowers were lovely. Tried to fit in as many days out visiting the area, but needed much longer than a week. Would love to come back when the weather is much warmer, has been a bit chilly this week. Thank you Lorraine, lovely to meet you and you truly have a lovely cottage.

What an amazing place to stay and see all of Northumberland. The peace and tranquillity is second to none. Coming ‘home’ to such a beautiful cottage added to the whole experience of such a fab stay. The Welcome Basket and the customer care is second to none. I wish I had booked longer but I am sure there will be a next time and I will definitely be recommending you to all of my friends. Thank you Lorraine for your kindness.

We have had a great time in your beautiful cottage! The Welcome Basket and the fresh flowers were really appreciated. It is a super base to explore Northumberland which has so many places of interest. We have visited the area several times but this cottage has been the loveliest one!! Thank you for making us welcome and for making Coquet Cottage a ‘home from home’.

Coquet Cottage is an ideal location or exploring south Northumbria, Alnwick, Bamburgh, Alnmouth, Cragside, Rothbury and Warkworth are a must to visit with excellent meals to be had at Lilburn’s in Alnwick; The Cook & Barker in Newton on the Moor and the Anglers Arms here in Weldon Bridge. Great weather made for icing on the cake.

Lovely, well equipped cottage. A good base for touring around the area. Anglers Arms is a decent pub to have on the doorstep – if you eat there, the portions are big! Cook & Barker pub at Newton on the Moor is worth a visit. A new find for us was Cragside – spent a great day there. After busy(ish) days out and about it was always lovely to come back to the peace and quiet of Coquet Cottage. Thanks to Lorraine & Paul for accommodating us at very short notice.

Another most enjoyable stay in the cottage, which won’t be our last. Made to feel very welcome and felt it was like a home from home. Visited all the places we missed last time in this beautiful part of the country. Thanks.

A great stay in a lovely cottage. The Welcome Pack excellent especially the lemon cake! Lorraine was most helpful, also the guest information folder. Couldn’t have been better.

Wonderful Cake!

A perfect cottage to unwind and relax in…. we both feel very revived and almost ready to return to our crazy lives! The area is beautiful, especially the beaches, gorgeous sand. Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful cottage, nothing has been forgotten.

Had a very relaxing time in your lovely cottage, that is well equipped for everything that you would need. Enjoyed the location which made it easy to explore Northumberland. Food at the Anglers Arms was very good! Grateful for the Welcome Pack which was very thoughtful. Will certainly recommend your lovely cottage to our friends and family.

A very relaxing holiday in your lovely comfortable cottage. Our first visit to Northumberland which we found to be a beautiful County with plenty of places of interest to visit and a beautiful coastline. Wonderful meals out. Many thanks for the lovely cake and Anniversary Prosecco.

Really nice cottage, very peaceful lovely hamlet and good pub grub. I was made to feel really welcome, would certainly recommend.

What a delightful and relaxing start to our holiday in Northumberland. A gorgeous, comfortable cottage. Thank you. We thoroughly enjoyed the Simonside Walk and the cosy comforts of the fantastic cottage. Definitely 5*

What a wonderful cottage to return to at the end of enjoyable days re-acquainting ourselves with an area we loved to visit as a young family. It has been everything we wanted and more, made all the more special for the conversations with Lorraine.

Cheviot Hills to the west. Stunning coastline to the East. Cragside and Wallington in between and the Running Fox at Felton and Longframlington; The Anglers Arms down the road with great beer, Pie Nights on a Thursday.
Great Tits tapping their beaks on the window of the kitchen, woodpeckers in the garden.
Oh, and a super cottage with a great host and Welcome Hamper!
What’s not to like!?

A stunning, beautiful bolthole, just what we needed after family celebrations in Whitley Bay.
Lorraine gave us the warmest of welcomes in our native North East and surprised Paul with a thoughtful card and bottle of bubbles for his birthday.
The cottage is furnished to a very high standard, you want for nothing here. Location is close to the coast, castles, and countryside, with a delightful pub on the doorstep.
Well done Lorraine and Paul, a superb stay – we shall return.

It might have rained all week! But we enjoyed this cosy, well equipped cottage and the Coquet Valley.
Our highlights:- exploring the amazing Cragside, Dunstanburgh Castle and a coastal walk from Craster; great Simon-side Walk – see the walks in the folder. Then the cup and ring carvings and hill fort.
Also enjoyed a day in Newcastle – the Four Tops and the Temptations at the Sage!
Finally… quite the best Information/Visitor folder we’ve seen, full of really helpful and interesting information.
Best Welcome Pack!

Thank you again for a lovely stay – we had a most relaxing return visit and everything was just as good as we remembered, if not better. Cosy wood burner, super comfy bed, well equipped kitchen. The Welcome Pack was most welcome – especially enjoyed the eggs and cake! The colouring book was like an old friend and really enjoyed adding to that (an owl of course!) Thanks also for the beautiful candle and the card! I just wish we had the time to stay longer. Also the night sky was stunning – the stars just took our breath away when we stepped out of the car on Friday night.

Thank you Lorraine & Paul for making Coquet Cottage so welcoming!
Everything was lovely. The Welcome Basket, the fresh flowers, that gorgeous Lemon Drizzle cake and the cottage itself is wonderful. This is the second visit and we will be back! It’s a fantastic spot for relaxing,

Thank you Lorraine and Paul for sharing this remarkable cottage. The perfect ‘bolt-hole’ when you want to escape a busy life. The Guest Information File was exceptional. All you need to know. As a ‘Map Addict’ David appreciated the OS map. We enjoyed ‘bird-watching’ through the window, the comfiest of beds and the quality of the cottage furnishings. Quite lovely! It is a great centre for walks, castles, beaches. We would love to come again. Thank you again for the little touches – fresh flowers, Lemon Drizzle, Welcome Basket.

What can we say? Whilst this was not our first visit to Northumberland it was our first stay at Coquet Cottage but we hope it won’t be our last. Everything was just right from the fluffy towels and bathrobes to the choice of instant, ground or Nespresso coffee!
Lorraine’s lemon drizzle cake was lovely and enjoyed after a walk up to Linhope Spout which tested the leg muscles but was certainly worth it. We followed that with a look round Edlingham Castle and church in the glorious evening light. We came at the right to of year to see lots of lambs which added to the pleasure of our long weekend as well as a return to visit Rothbury and the wonderful Cragside. We enjoyed a very good meal at the Anglers Arms – its lovely to have somewhere so close.
The only trouble with a lot of walking and a very comfy bed is it is far too easy to sleep in! Thank you for a wonderful place.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was everything we hoped for – a warm and cosy place to return after a day outside whatever the weather! Much appreciated that everything was provided in terms of oil, spices etc that you might need when cooking and we loved looking out at the birds on the feeder.
Highlights of our visit were the Farne Islands (able to see and get up close to a wide variety of birds), walking along the coast near Bamburgh and Low Newton, and a walk in the hills above Rothbury. Also enjoyed seeing Cragside, a good choice for a drizzly day. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable – the cottage was a big part of it!

Lorraine – what can we say apart from ‘Just Perfect’!
All aspects of holiday accommodation just 100%.
You recommended the Cook & Barker – just wonderful, we went four times!
Wallington Gardens, Alnwick Castle & Gardens, all just wonderful and the trip to the Farne Islands, just magical – all those Puffins!
Many thanks! We will be back, and look out for all our friends!

We are so pleased to have found this absolute gem of a cottage. Everything has been perfect (except for the weather)!
Thank you Lorraine and Paul, the attention to detail is exceptional, from the cleanliness, the cosiness, the comfy bed. The Welcome Pack was wonderful especially the Lemon Drizzle cake and the wine was a bonus!
It was our first visit to this cottage but it certainly won’t be the last.
Thanks once again

We had a lovely, comfortable stay in your beautiful cottage. Very high standard and well equipped. Thank you for the generous Welcome Pack.
We enjoyed exploring the area by car and by foot. Particularly enjoyed walks;
Craster to Low Newton via Dunstanburgh Castle and lunch at The Ship Inn
From the cottage to Rothbury and back on the bus.
The Drake Stone and Harbottle walk from the folder. Lunch at The Rose & Thistle.
Visited Alnwick Castle. State Rooms very interesting. Evening meal at the Treehouse Restaurant. Quirky and good food.
Craster kippers delicious!
A very enjoyable week, thank you. Friendly, helpful locals.

Lovely cottage, everything we need for a perfect holiday. Thank you for all the extra things and lovely welcome pack. Weather good only had 2 days when it rained but it did not stop us going for some lovely walks and the Farne Isle boat trip. We will definitely be back.
Ate at the Anglers Arms quite a few times. Staff very friendly and good food. Also really enjoyed the Cook and Barker.
Thank you

With such wonderful accolades it’s difficult to add anymore except to say we had a lovely break in your beautiful cottage and thank you for the care and attention you put into what felt like home for a few days.
Everything has been perfect, from the warm welcome on arrival to the delicious ‘yoghurt/apricot cake’ and the thoughtful Welcome Pack.
And… what a lot to see and do in the area ….BEAUTIFUL!!
The thunderstorm made a splendid show! We would love to return on another visit to enjoy more of what the area has to offer,
Many thanks for a lovely stay in Coquet Cottage.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your fantastic cottage, from the lovely warm welcome on arrival, we felt so at home.
We have had some great days out with stunning views in every direction.
Food at the Anglers Arms was amazing, definitely worth a visit.
A big thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home.

We’ve had a marvellous time! Loved the Welcome Pack and in particular the fabulous lemon cake and fresh bread. The cottage is lovely, a real home from home, we’re only sorry not to be staying longer.
The Anglers Arms food was great and not to be missed.
Colin caught 5 Trout on the pub stretch but no Salmon in sight alas.

We’ve had and amazing time for our first visit to Northumberland. It certainly won’t be our last!
Thank you for making us feel so welcome – a true home from home. With plenty of long walks under our belt over the last fortnight and many a nice meal at the Anglers Arms – it is with a heavy heart that we go home.
Thanks for a great holiday!

We have so enjoyed our stay in such a delightful cottage in such an amazing part of the country.
Thank you Lorraine for providing such a comfortable and well equipped property.
We have barely touched the surface of all there is to do and see in Northumberland and hope to come back again soon.

Had a great time here in this lovely cottage. Very comfortable and great hospitality all round.
Just Excellent!

Everything about this cottage is wonderful. This was our third visit and we could not find a better base for a holiday in Northumberland!
Thanks so much Lorraine and Paul for maintaining such high standards and for giving us such a warm welcome.

We have had just a perfect few days in this beautiful cottage. The attention to detail is second to none – including a birthday card and gift. Thank you Lorraine & Paul. We absolutely love Northumberland and will be back! Thanks for sharing your home with us.

We had stayed here before and was very impressed. Very happy with all the contents of the welcome basket! Excellent facilities and ideal location for us. Owners very welcoming and friendly.

We were thrilled with the cottage, excellent choice.

A lovely cottage in a quiet area. Lorraine ensured we were made very welcome and we really appreciated the little touches that made our stay just that bit more special.

A remarkable cottage. Beautifully appointed in a lovely location. Good for walks castles and beaches and historic buildings. Lorraine and Peter have done everything to make this cottage the perfect place to stay. The lemon drizzle cake was most welcome after a long drive. It was everything you could want in a cottage for a weekend or longer.

Just back from a short break at Coquet Cottage. The cottage had a small courtyard at the front with a bistro table and chairs, and fairy lights in the tree! There is a pub nearby serving good food. The cottage itself is superbly fitted out with a great kitchen, lovely bathroom, comfortable lounge and super bedroom. They even provided bathrobes and slippers. It’s a great base for exploring Northumberland, the welcome basket with home-baked cake was a lovely touch. This was our second visit and we will certainly be back.

A lovely little place for two where you can relax and unwind. The cottage is very well equipped and has been beautifully furnished with a nod to mid century design. Great local walking and a friendly local pub just a couple of minutes away.

My wife and I had an excellent week in this lovely area of Northumberland. The cottage is in a quiet village and has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Two minutes down the road is a pub serving good food for those evenings when you don’t feel like cooking. Alnwick, with it’s wonderful castle and gardens is only 25 minutes away – the second hand bookshop in the town is also well worth a visit. The interesting Northumbrian coastline for walks etc is a similar distance. At the end of our days out we always looked forward to the comforts of the cottage.

My husband and I (ex geordies) thoroughly enjoyed a very relaxing stay, in between visiting family in the region. The location is quiet, yet within easy reach of many wonderful attractions that Northumberland has to offer. This fabulous cosy cottage is a perfect bolthole, furnished to a very high standard and most comfortable. You want for nothing here, the lovely friendly owner Lorraine has a great eye for detail. We would not hesitate to book this again, no matter what the season.

Excellent location, friendly owners and excellent facilities. Having stayed here before and previously had an excellent stay we wanted to re-visit this area. The owners really made our stay extra special with their thoughtful extras and festive treats.

A stunning cottage. Perfect and cosy for two. Very quietly positioned but with a very good pub in the hamlet. The cottage was furnished to a high standard, the owner has a great eye for detail. My husband enjoyed the wine and myself the delicious lemon cake! The bread was also lovely. Lorraine is a fabulous host, very friendly and welcoming. We would not hesitate to book this cottage again. Great website and lovely staff in your office.

Coquet Cottage is so cosy! We loved the extras on our arrival such as the home baked goods and wine. The girls in the Coquet Cottages office were very polite, professional and friendly! Thanks for a lovely stay.

Such a lovely and well equipped cottage set in an ideal place to discover Northumberland. The welcome basket was fantastic and felt lovely to have a gift waiting for us on arrival!

What a lovely place to stay! This is a delightful cottage with a real home from home feel. The welcome basket was very thoughtful and most welcomed after a long journey. It takes the urgency out of having to find supermarkets or somewhere to eat as soon as you get there. Throughout the cottage was clean and well equipped. The owner, Lorraine, went out her way to make sure everything was okay for us.

Beautiful and peaceful cottage. In a great location to have access to both the coast and countryside. Lorraine and Paul have thought about all the little details that are handy on holiday and we would definitely come back and stay again.

Wonderful stay! Spotless, very comfortable. The owners Lorraine & Paul have thought of everything to make their guests stay perfect! We loved our stay.

Great cottage and facilities, lovely location, would stay again.  The welcome pack was very welcome after our journey, having provisions for breakfast and snacks. The local bread and cakes were excellent. We especially liked the decor and the lovely quiet peaceful location, especially being able to sit in the sunny outdoor seating area in the good weather.  Everything was perfect.

Beautiful and relaxing! We have had a short but enjoyable stay and we will definitely be returning to this beautiful well appointed and furnished cottage. Myself & my wife find it difficult to relax and the best compliment I can give is that I was very very relaxed!

Lovely cottage with everything we needed for a very comfortable stay! The pub just down the road serves a very good range of dishes if you feel like a night(s) off from cooking.

Thank you for an absolutely wonderful week! We have had such a relaxing time in the cottage which has everything we could possibly need. We loved watching the birds at the kitchen window and even saw a woodpecker next door. Its so well situated – we managed to explore quite a bit of the area and would definitely recommend a boat trip to the Farne Islands and dinner at The Old Boathouse in Amble! I’ve also never seen quite such a well-appointed welcome pack – we were very impressed! Thank you for making us feel so at home, and helping us celebrate our anniversary. We hope to be able to make it back soon!

Lovely restful weekend. Had a couple of great walks. The icing on the cake was this beautiful cottage. So much thought has gone into it – we loved it.

Fabulous cosy base for our walking break! Great to come back and put the fire on and open the bottle of red from our Welcome Hamper. First visit to Northumberland but I suspect we will be back!

An absolutely stunning retreat from a hectic festive season! The cottage, and surroundings are first rate and we couldn’t have asked for more. All the extra little touches from Paul and Lorraine (welcome basket/instructions/pre-made fire etc) all just added to a wonderful weekend away! Will definitely recommend as a cottage of choice….

Thank you so much for a short but enjoyable stay in your lovely cottage. We loved every aspect – it was so welcoming and such a relaxing space to spend time. The log burner did a fantastic job of keeping us warm especially on Friday and Saturday when it was so cold outside. We loved watching all the birds on the feeder outside the kitchen window and watched the ‘Supermoon’ rise over the Coquet. Lorraine and Paul were so welcoming and we really appreciated the tasty cake!

What a wonderful place, came planning to do loads and actually collapsed enjoying a home from home. Log burner, amazing welcome pack, pub 3 doors down, there is no need to go anywhere else on a cold wintery day. Thanks so much to our wonderful hosts. Lorraine was so welcoming and friendly. Would love to come again.

What a beautiful place! The cottage had everything your could wish for. We had lots of (sedate!) adventures, ambling in Amble, watching the blue-tits knock on the kitchen window and tasting cake in as many tea shops as we could manage! Ready for the excitement of the Christmas term!

We’ve had a wonderful first visit to Northumberland and will definitely be back. What a stunning county with lovely friendly people. Coquet Cottage is perfect in every way – we don’t want to go home! Thanks Lorraine for the lovely welcome pack and for all your tips and ideas containined in the booklet. We’ll be back asap!

Thank you Lorraine and Paul for another truly wonderful break at Coquet Cottage. Everything was just perfect!! We will see you again very soon.

We have had a wonderful few days staying in your beautiful cottage. A great base to visit the incredible county of Northumberland. Castles galore and stunning beaches. We will definitely be back.

Many thanks for our stay in your lovely cottage. We couldn’t have wished for better, more well equipped accommodation. Every need catered for and a very warm welcome. We have visited this beautiful part of the country many times and will keep coming back again and again if we get such high quality breaks.

A very lovely cottage, very well equipped, good location, peaceful and relaxing. We liked the amazing attention to detail, everything we could possibly need was available plus some added extras like dressing gowns and slippers. The cottage was just lovely!

The welcome basket was a lovely surprise. To be able to have a cup of tea on your arrivel after a long journey was very welcoming in, and to have something for breakfast the next day was wonderful especially when you don’t know the area.It was lovely and bright in its decoration very clean looking. Very well equipped comfortable and warm. The owners were very friendly and attentive and left you alone.

This cottage is very comfortable and has everything you would want in a holiday cottage. And the owners, Lorraine and Paul, are lovely; probably the best hosts we’ve come across! Also Weldon Bridge, although it has no facilities other than the gastro pub, is very central both for the coast and the Northumberland National Park.

Excellent accommodation with lovely attention to detail and a great welcome pack and convenient location for all the places we wanted to visit. High standard of facilities, furnishing, cleanliness, equipment and a lovely atmosphere.

Excellent high quality cottage. Lots of lovely touches – homemade cake, welcome pack, quality linen on the bed, great eye for interior decoration. The cottage has a fantastic location too.

We have had a great time in your beautiful cottage which feels like home from home. Thank you for the welcome pack, Mark enjoyed both pieces of cake! We have done some great walks in the surrounding areas, and been lucky with the weather. Hope to be back.

What a lovely cottage! Everything about it is so comforting and welcoming. Jim and I had a lovely relaxing break here and would happily return for the things we didn’t have time to see. Whilst enjoying the highlights of Cragside, Newcastle, Alnwick, Lindisfarne, Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh; there were many simple pleasures too. These included relaxing in front of the wood burning stove with candles flickering, tea and delicious cake in the sunny courtyard and paddling in the expansive sandy beaches. Thank you so much for the well stocked welcome basket Lorraine. You have created a lovely home and it was a delight to stay for a week.

Blessed by the warmest weather which followed the warmest of welcomes from yourself. The basket of goodies and cake made for the most perfect of starts to our break.Lovely accommodation, location and so handy for lots of places. Revisited Cragside as usual, Bamburgh area, Seahouses. First time for Rothbury, very nice and Warkworth. Will heartily recommend your cottage and look forward to a return visit. Anglers Arms a must for good food and convenience.

A good break as promised, despite the alternating days of rain and sun! Did not stop us from catching up on old haunts. Diolch!

Just to say how much we enjoyed staying in your lovely cottage. We very much appreciated your friendly welcome and the little extras like the hamper, toiletries and pretty flowers, which made our visit a little bit more special . The cottage was in an ideal spot for exploring Northumberland and Cragside, Alnwick Gardens and especially Wallington – the latter being a must for future visitors.

We have had a wonderful week here in the heat wave! The cottage is brilliant and very handy for the Anglers Arms which we found very welcoming with good fool. Favourite places to visit were Bamburgh (as always), Cragside, Farne Islands and Alnmouth. Such beautiful beaches in the hot weather! Many thanks for the welcome pack and the extra touches that make the cottage so homely. Watching the swallows and the woodpeckers from the kitchen window has been a real treat. It has been a very relaxing holiday – if busy at times – and we will thoroughly recommend your cottage as a great place to stay!

Thank you Lorraine & Paul for the very warm welcome to your cottage and all the yummy goodies in your welcome basket. We have felt very much at home in your tastefully furnished, well equipped cottage. It has been a pleasure to come home to after a day’s exploring this beautiful area of Northumberland. We have made the most of our stay with a river and countryside walk to Rothbury (6 ½ miles) and back by bus. Lots of memories to take back to Somerset. Thank you once again and all the very best for the rest of Summer. We hope to visit again!

Thank you both for providing a fantastic base for a wonderful stay in Northumberland. Your cottage is fab and provides everything you need. We have loved watching the swallows build their nest and seen the woodpeckers every day. We have loved all the wildlife in the area including seeing deer and red squirrels. With only one day of rain, we have managed to fit in lots of places, including the delightful castles and beaches in the area. It is a long time since we were last in this area but we will not be leaving it so long before we come back again. Thank you.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our week here, despite the wet weather! Beautiful beaches, castles and good food. The cottage is lovely. Grateful for tips of previous guests.

A thoroughly enjoyable week; excellent accommodation with superb attention to detail and presentation. The cottage was conveniently located for “Coast and Country” and we took every advantage, despite a few showers. We would recommend in no particular order; Brinkburn Priory, Lady’s Well, Poison Garden (Alnwick Castle), Embleton Bay, Warkworth Castle, and Edlingham Castle and St John the Baptist Church (oh, and Cragside of course). Thanks for the Lemon Drizzle Cake and chocolate bar – all eaten on the first night!

Wow! Superb hospitality – so many lovely touches to the cottage and a fine “home from home” feeling. Thank you!!Our first, but certainly not our last visit to Northumberland. The cottage is ideally situated to visit so many places. We shall return to Coquet Cottage. We are overwhelmed with the beauty of the district, its gardens and Castles, homes of repute and above all, the people! With the Anglers Arms food being so excellent, it’s hard to stay in and use the kitchen. Large portions and great value for money. Look forward to staying with you again in the very near future

We have really enjoyed our stay here with everything we needed. The cottage is a delight to come back to after a long day site seeing. Thank you for making us so welcome and ensuring we had everything we wanted. The welcome pack was needed after our long journey – a very thoughtful touch. This was our first visit to Northumberland – we will return – a beautiful place and lovely people.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cosy cottage. The thought that has gone into the planning and provision of wee extras is very much appreciated. The quality of everything is superb. Had a good bar supper in the Anglers Arms – would recommend it – and long walks on the beaches. Druridge Bay is always amazing. Butcher at Rothbury is good and we liked pottering in Morpeth. The gem of Barter Books is still going strong. Loved the wood burner, pity about the rugby score… Hope to be back soon.

What a special place to spend a birthday. Beautiful scenery, stunning beaches and oh the puffins on the Farne Islands, just brilliant. Thank you for thinking of all the little things that make a stay perfect.

We have had a wonderful stay at your lovely cottage which has everything we needed for a perfect break. It was our first visit to Northumberland, and certainly will not be our last. Your comprehensive guide to the area proved most useful, despite the challenging weather. We have really enjoyed ourselves and one day would hope to come back. Thank you Lorraine and Paul, you have been excellent hosts.

Lorraine and Paul – what a wonderful retreat. Absolutely love everything you have done with the place and will try and emulate some touches back at home. We’ve done crab sandwiches at the Ship Inn, walked Embleton Bay beach my favourite of all, browsed Alnwick, lunched at the Treehouse Alnwick gardens and chilled. Fantastic base and we’ll definitely be back. Thanks.

What a beautiful cosy cottage with wonderful owners. Thank you Paul and Lorraine for your hospitality and being so welcoming. We’ve had an amazing time and Northumberland really is something special. Unfortunately 3 days is not enough time to see all it has to offer. We went to Alnwick, Rothbury, Bamburgh and Craster. We will definitely be back and couldn’t think of a better place for our base to wake up or rest our heads. Bravo and keep doing what you’re doing – its perfect!

Lorraine & Paul. Thank you for your hospitality and the chance to stay in your lovely cottage. Well equipped, very cosy, and in excellent location for coast but also attractions further inland. Even a pub on the doorstep!

A well needed break and a lovely stay. The cottage is warm, cosy and caters for everything that you need. Enjoyed a walk along the beach and wrapping presents by the tree. Perfect! Thank you lots.

Thank you for the most wonderful stay. Coming from Cumbria it was great to get away from the torrential rain for a couple of bright and sunny days. We enjoyed a lovely visit to Holy Island and a walk from Craster along to Dunstanburgh which I would highly recommend. The touches in the cottage show great attention to detail from the Christmas decorations to the well informed information pack. It is a wonderful home from home and will definitely be back. Thanks again.

A big thank you for a lovely week at Weldon Bridge! The Christmas tree and advent calendar – not to mention the mistletoe were a lovely surprise! The basket of goodies and cake a real treat! The weather hasn’t been ideal but we managed several nice walks during our stay especially the ones down to the Anglers! The food there is lovely! Enjoyed a treat at the Tree House in Alnwick – the drive home was memorable as the roads all flooded! A cosy cottage, well equipped and comfortable.

Thank you so much for having us! Our first visit to Northumberland has been amazing with bright sunny skies and four layers of clothes! Enjoyed meal at the Jolly Fisherman at Craster and an evening at the Kielder Observatory. We’ll be back!

Had it not been for the delights of Coquet Cottage (Weldon Bridge) we might have gone home early, as the weather wasn’t so good! A lovely welcome from Lorraine and a welcome pack full of goodies mad our arrival very special. We came back soaked from our trips to Craster, Dunstanburgh, Alnwick, Alnmouth, Amble, Warkworth, Rothbury and Brinkburn Priory. Within minutes of hanging up our coats in the Boot Room and putting on the kettle, we felt snug and revived. Evening meals at the Anglers (tasty, generous sized portions and friendly service) meant not having to cook or get the car out again. Hope you (the next occupants) enjoy your stay as much as we’ve done!

Accommodation equipped to a very high standard providing warmth and comfort. The welcome pack was very well received after a long and tedious journey! We have visited some very enjoyable places thanks to the information provided in the visitor’s book. The walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle was lovely, more so because it was a sunny afternoon. We wish you both every success in your new venture.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Coquet Cottage, what a lovely welcome after a long journey. It has been sympathetically and tastefully renovated to make a very cosy and comfortable base. The location is excellent for cycling, walking and of course visiting the many Castles. The Farne Islands are not to be missed, although our visit in October meant that we had obviously missed the majority of bird life. We were so lucky to visit them on a beautiful autumn day, with blue skies and sunshine!! We thoroughly enjoyed the coastal walk from Craster to Low Newton. We have never stayed anywhere which provides such comprehensive and excellent advice on the area. Well done Lorraine and Paul, we hope to return again soon to your beautiful cottage.

Thank you for the wonderful welcome, it was the perfect start to our 4 night break. The cottage is so beautiful and cosy; it was almost a shame to have to leave it to see the other sites of Northumberland. Attention to detail and the other well thought of extras made it such an easy place to feel at home. The log burner was the perfect welcome home after a days sightseeing in the cold, wind and rain. Ten minutes in front of the log burner soon warmed us up, all nice and toastie! We ate a few times in the local pub the Anglers Arms. We highly recommend it; the food is really tasty and reasonably priced. We would definitely recommend Coquet Cottage to our friends and family. We are looking forward to our next visit already. Four days just wasn’t enough time to truly see what Northumberland has to offer. What a wonderful place to stay.

We’ve just returned from a fantastic mini-break at Coquet Cottage, Weldon Bridge. We were very happy, everything was just perfect. The weather wasn’t on our side, however the cottage certainly made up for that, after a lovely warm welcome from the owners, we soon settled in, the cottage itself is so cosy and welcoming, decorated to a very high standard, immaculate throughout and very well equipped for a self catering break. An ideal location for exploring Northumberland, the icing on the cake was the log burner which was a much appreciated welcome home after being out sightseeing in the wind and rain – we soon thawed out nicely! We ate out a few times at the local pub, literally just down the road! Reasonably priced and tasty food, all in all a great holiday, thank you so much, we will definitely be back soon!

The Christmassy feel to it was lovely and made it very homely. It was warm and comfortable and perfect to come home to after a day’s walking!

Very homely, warm and cosy. Tastefully decorated with particular attention to detail, especially with regards to Christmas decorations. Lorraine and Paul were extremely welcoming hosts, from the initial telephone contact in the week preceding our visit to our departure.

This was our first cottage experience and we absolutely loved it! What a lovely place you provide. Although we stayed a week, we still have not seen nearly enough of this beautiful area. Thank you for making it such a special holiday!

What a delightful cottage – my first impressions were that I would be happy living here! It was also a delight to discover the beauty of ‘inland’ Northumberland as up until now the coast has always been our destination. A lovely relaxing time here in this gorgeous cottage. Well worth a return visit!

What was certainly a first was being given some cake to take with us when we left – much appreciated. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. Regarding our (pretty late) booking, when we rang, we left a voicemail message and although it was quite late evening, we got a reply that night and were able to book without waiting until the next day. This is excellent service – thank you!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our visit – our first to Northumberland, but certainly not our last I hope. The cottage is lovely. Everything we need and the welcome pack was very much appreciated, especially the cake and chocolate! We began our stay by having a very good lunch at the Shoulder of Mutton in Longhorsley and have eaten at the Anglers Arms, which we thoroughly enjoyed. What a joy to have such a gem on the doorstep! We visited Amble, Alnwick (toured the gardens and castle). Recommend having a meal at the Treehouse Restaurant – fabulous. Also walked from Craster to Dunstanburgh but cheated and drove to Low Newton by-the-Sea. One of the benefits of touring around the area is the fact the roads are so clear of other traffic. So different from where we live. Finally, the locals are so friendly and welcoming – especially Lorraine and Paul. Thank you for everything.

We have enjoyed our time staying at Coquet Cottage and it was the perfect romantic setting to celebrate our first year of marriage. We so appreciated your kindness leaving us a card and bubbles, thank you! We have visited many beautiful places, with highlights being Alnwick gardens, Howick Hall and Dunstanburgh Castle. Fabulous lunch at the Craster Fish Restaurant and a really fine evening at The Anglers Arms’ pub quiz evening. A wonderfully relaxing stay and we are sure that we will return.

In the past 50+ years we have travelled through Northumberland 20-30 times en route to Scotland. This time we decided to spend a few days here and explore the area. We couldn’t have asked for a better base. The cottage is lovely, exceptionally well appointed with everything one could wish for. We particularly enjoyed a tour of the Cheviots on back roads as per the planned route in Northumberland gazetteer. Thanks to Lorraine for the very welcome basket on arrival and her friendly welcome.

Thank you for the warm and generous welcome (the drizzle cake was lovely). The cottage is comfortable, cosy and really well equipped. I loved watching the birds outside the kitchen window hiding among the beautiful plants. Cragside was amazing to visit and the walk up Simonside definitely worth the initial effort. A lovely week!

Lorraine & Paul have such attention to detail that Coquet Cottage feels like a home from home with every need catered for. It is a lovely base in which to explore the delights of Northumberland. Our highlights have been Homestead, Hadrian’s Wall, a cream tea at Carnegies in Bellingham and Cragside. Thank you for ensuring we had some beautiful weather to enjoy all the sights. PS Barters Books at Alnwick is well worth a visit – they do cream tea too!

We have had a lovely relaxing week in your beautiful, cosy cottage. Thank you too for your warm welcome and hospitality during our stay. Weather has been great too which was a bonus, it was a treat to come back from our days travels to sit out in the sun with a glass of wine!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our short stain in this lovely little cottage. We have been made so welcome both here by Lorraine and Paul, with the welcome pack and the anniversary fits, and also at the Anglers Arms down the road where the staff have been friendly and helpful.

We have had a fantastic time, our first in Northumberland and we will certainly be back. We have loved the people, the food, the scenery and of course Coquet Cottage – what a gem!

Wow! What a find. In the 22 years we’ve been together and holidayed in self-catering accommodation, this has to be among the top five with none being in any order. Most places of interest have been mentioned before or are in the very comprehensive guide – by far the best we’ve seen! Thank you once again Lorraine and Paul for a very enjoyable stay, a lovely welcome letter and delicious lemon drizzle cake, not to mention the welcome basket. We wish you well in your new venture and look forward to seeing you both next February!

This was our first visit to Northumbria. Keen to explore its coast North of Amble, we were blessed with good weather and ample opportunity to walk its cliffs, see the seabirds and seals and such beautiful seascapes. The light is truly wonderful. There was so much we would love to have seen but couldn’t. And everywhere we went, people were so kind and friendly. Our accommodation here was first class. Not just warm and cosy but everything so carefully and thoughtfully arranged, such attention to detail! Without doubt we shall return

Our second visit up to a holiday cottage in Northumberland and this cottage is the most charming, cosy and the most lovely cottage in all the one’s we have stayed at during our mini breaks away throughout the UK! Lovely welcome pack and topped off by a celebratory toast to have with it, as we got engaged in this gorgeous home! Perfect setting, lovely pub on the corner, such homely little touches by Lorraine and Paul. We will be back on our Wedding Anniversary!

We’ve had a lovely long weekend here in such a cosy cottage. Cottage has everything you need or could think of for a cosy weekend! Lorraine, thanks for being so welcoming and for the bottle of Prosecco and card for our anniversary. So kind of you! Woodburner great and we loved the Christmas decorations, all the homely touches and all the local information. We had a special meal at the Treehouse Restaurant at Alnwick Gardens (amazing building), amazing afternoon tea at The Running Fox, Felton – highly recommended. We love Northumberland and love walking at Warkworth beach, exploring Alnwick and Alnmouth. It was the perfect cottage to celebrate our 10th Anniversary!

We have had a lovely holiday at Coquet Cottage – a beautiful home from home. We enjoyed the thoughtful welcome pack, thank you, and yes please I would love the recipe for your Pear Cake Lorraine!

Thanks for the welcome pack – very thoughtful as were the salt, spices, cleaning equipment etc… We have been to Northumberland before but never stayed in this area. Cottage was lovely. Well in the top few of those we have visited! Loved the patio area and good choice of furniture and decor. Many thanks!

Brilliant cottage, charming owners and a lovely surrounding countryside – what more could you think of? Don’t bother, Lorraine the owner will have thought of and provided it. Hope to come back. We thought it is the best holiday cottage we have ever known.

Thank you for the lovely Welcome Pack, very generous. Had a very relaxing and restful time in your beautiful cottage. We know Northumberland quite well, and will certainly add you to our address book.

Thanks for sharing your lovely cottage with us. You have thought of everything. A real ‘home from home’ – can we move in please? We loved exploring Northumberland as we hadn’t visited before. We particularly enjoyed wild and windy Seahouses today, amazing waves over the harbour wall! Recommend the fish and chips at Neptune. We had a trip to Hadrian’s Wall in the snow showers which added to the atmosphere and enjoyed a breezy walk from Craster to the castle. Will be interesting to return in the summer to see how different is Northumberland then.

Thank you for a lovely few days in your cottage – absolutely beautiful and just the peaceful break we needed. The local restaurants were wonderful and your information folder was extremely thorough. Rob loved both pieces of your lovely lemon drizzle cake and we now face an uphill battle with our weight after this wonderful stay. Hope to see you again soon and many thanks for your warm welcome.

Thank you for an amazing few days staying at your beautiful cottage. It was a real home from home. It allowed us to explore the many local sites and numerous pubs! We had a very peaceful and relaxing break and would love to come back. Thanks so much for the welcome pack and information. Many thanks again!

Lovely cottage, comfy and homely. Great place to explore the Northumberland area, despite the wet weather! Pub next door is great. Super food and friendly staff. Lorraine provided a generous welcome pack thank you. Lemon drizzle cake was wonderful. We hope to come back and see the area without the rain. Thank you.

Well, here we are back again and the cottage still has the same charm as the first time we were here. The weather has been frosty with a biting wind, but dry mostly. This area of Northumberland has plenty to offer. Coming from North Lincolnshire we love the dales and moors of Yorkshire, but Northumberland is just as beautiful. Once again a big thank you to Lorraine and Paul for the lovely welcome basket and all the little touches that make a house a home. The cherry cake was delicious! We wish you both all the best.

Thank you to Lorraine for a very warm welcome and introduction to the cottage’s facilities. We felt very at home and relaxed immediately. A beautiful cottage, very well and thoughtfully equipped, so thank you for that. A real home from home. The bed is very comfortable as is the rest of the cottage. We found the location great for exploring more of the Northumberland Countryside, National Park and Cheviot. We’ve explored more of stunning Northumberland and looking forward to returning in September. Thanks!

A very cosy cottage in a perfect area to visit the hills and coast. Quiet and relaxing and extremely high standard cottage. Thank you for the welcome pack – delicious. Looking forward to moving up here in a few years and would recommend your cottage to friends.

We have had a wonderful time in your beautiful cottage and have enjoyed exploring the area in amazing Spring weather. The cottage is fantastic – you have thought of everything. We have enjoyed evenings by the fire and tea in the courtyard with your delicious cake. Highlights locally – the boat trip to the Farne Islands to see the puffins and seals, coffee and cake at The Running Fox and a wonderful drive through the Cheviot Hills. I feel sure we will be back!

Lovely place, Lovely stay, Lovely Lorraine. Can’t wait to come back.
