Guest Feedback for Hotspur Cottage

Our visitors’ books are great to read through over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and provide a wealth of recommendations on the best places to eat and visit, as well as some useful tips to benefit other guests. We also send Guest Surveys to all our guests after their holiday and some of their comments are listed here too.

Many guests have listed recommendations for the same lovely places, such as Warkworth Beach, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Barter Books, Holy Island and the Farnes, but for the sake of avoiding repetition in this particular format, we have omitted these recommendations, but they can still be read in full in the visitors’ books in Hotspur Cottage.

Everything was lovely. The choice of wine was excellent for me ‘Oyster Bay’ Sauvignon Blanc being a particular favourite. The scones were excellent and we purchased more at the local shop. The biscuits were heaven, the bread was really good. The dog treats were exceptional. We have literally never had such a good welcome pack.

October 2021

We have really enjoyed our week of at Hotspur. It was fantastically located in Warkworth and to get to the surrounding area. W didn’t cook at the cottage as The Masons Arms was just so brilliant and very close. The beaches have been wonderful for out dog. We visited Bamburgh a couple of times and Alnmouth is a particular favourite. It was our first first to Warkworth and we will definitely be back. Thank you Coquet Cottages for all the lovely little extras which made our holiday even more special.

This is a lovely cottage with an exceptionally welcoming feeling. The welcome pack was excellent, and everything was very thoughtfully presented.

Lovely Cottage compact & perfectly formed. The virtual tour of cottage on the webpage was excellent.

Thank you for the very impressive welcome hamper, we have had the most enjoyable break with our daughter who also stayed in Lane End Cottage. There was lots to see and do in the area.

This property was all-round excellent, you even managed lovely weather for us. We were very surprised with the welcome basket. We didn’t realise it would be so substantial. I loved the locally sourced products. Our Northumbrian Breakfast hamper was also excellent. We would like to congratulate you on your communication which was absolutely first class – we actually felt extremely valued as customers – which is becoming rarer these days. Thank you!

The information we were given before arrival was really helpful, the App, and the text to tell us the cottage was ready early were all great. I would definitely book with you again.

We spent a week at Hotspur cottage and what a wonderful week it has been. The cottage and location are beautiful. It is difficult to mention just one thing, the beaches, castles, even the steam railway. But our favourite adventures have been the Serenity Cruise to see the puffins and Cragside. The Masons Arms was nice and The Warkworth Hotel is worth a visit for dinner. This is a wonderful part of the country and I am certain we will return.

Everything in the cottage was excellent and we were extremely impressed with the superb communications from Coquet Cottages. Thank you! We had a very good meal at Jaspers in Amble although it was very difficult to get a table. We played golf at Seahouses, which had some very interesting houses and great views. This was a great holiday and we wish we could have stayed longer than just the weekend.

Excellent holiday Cottage which was superb and the welcome hamper was brilliant. We enjoyed Northumberland (as always), it was so nice to be near the heart of the village. The river was beautiful and we enjoyed some lovely evening strolls around the village.

Thank you for the hamper, the biscuits, scones, wine and bread were all delicious. We will be back I’m sure.

I really liked the welcome pack provided. It was a nice surprise, I was touched you did this for us. Great service and well organised. The office staff are very helpful.

This was a return trip to Warkworth and Coquet Cottages and we weren’t disappointed. We spent most time revisiting old haunts and walking for miles with our Cockerpoo Maisie. Eating out was difficult this time as you had to be outside, and often it was a bit too cold for comfort. The Jolly Fisherman was full up, even on a rainy day as they had a marquee. But no room if you hadn’t booked! The Sun Hotel does fabulous fish and chips and is a great sun trap.

April 2021

Thank you for the hamper, the biscuits, scones, wine and bread were all delicious! We will be back I’m sure.

A very comfortable cottage in a great location. It was homely, an ideal layout for two people with a very good standard of fixtures and fittings.

November 2020

We’ve stayed here about 4 times in total and keep coming back as it’s perfect for a couple. Really happy, thank you!

Excellent accommodation and worth the 5 star rating. The welcome basket was excellent too, better than we’ve ever received before at any other holiday let.

October 2020

Really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. We were particularly pleased to be able to complete our week at the start of the 2nd lockdown. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The welcome hamper was appreciated. The weather was so lovely that we were able to enjoy long walks on the beaches. Hope to return soon.

Pete and Sue from Leeds

Had a great week, very lucky with the weather. Enjoyed lots of walks with Barney our dog. This is the second time in this cottage and is ideal for exploring Northumberland. We hope to be back in Northumberland next year.

Sharon, Graham and Barry from Barnard Castle

Lovely little cottage, the welcome hamper was a nice surprise for us and Bertie! If you bring a dog there is a lovely walk along by the river (turn left at the bottom of the lane) along to the Hermitage. Druridge Bay is also a lovely beach, approx 2 miles outside of Amble (after the speed camera) plenty of parking and a HUGE beach! The Masons Arms has good COVID protocols and the fish and chips were MASSIVE!

Super cottage which was tastily equipped. The welcome pack is marvellous and was unexpected. Great location, with lovely walks and good food in local hostelries. Coquet Cottages were prompt and attentive to our needs. We enjoyed our short break with good weather. The dogs loved the beaches and river walks.

Tony, Janey, Bella and Rosa from Doncaster

Thank you for enabling us to have this change of scenery in such a safe way. The cottage is all we could have wished for. The hampers for us all, including our lab was an absolute treat. We’ve had a lovely time and hope to return next year. Thank you so much.

Bob, Sal and Bailey

An absolutely fantastic and well needed break as lock down eases a little. This has been a true holiday and we feel more relaxed than we have in months. Hotspur Cottage is a delight along with the human and canine hampers which were much appreciated. We also visited Berwick Upon Tweed which is a lovely spot. We return home with fully recharged batteries. Dinner at The Old Boat house in Amble was superb. We had to sit out with Vinnie our dog, but a beautiful evening made it well worth while. Thank you for the use of this gorgeous cottage.

Tracy, Paul and Vinne from Harrogate

Had a lovely time here, it was good to have a change of scenery. We would recommend trips to Lindisfarne and Dunstanburgh via Craster. The smokies (kippers) from Craster were yummy. We took a Billy Sheils ‘seal trip’ from Seahouses, where the birds were amazing. My husband saw puffins for the first time. One of our favourite visits was to Howick Hall gardens (on the coast road towards Seahouses). The gardens were beautiful and the food in the teahouse was delish. We also visited Brinkburn Prior, Cragside and Wallington, but we had to booking in advance for there. Hotspur Cottage had all the facilities we needed. We felt it was clean, safe and were well provided for. We appreciated the hamper and treats for our dog.

S and S from Dorchester

A lovely well presented cottage. Good to be in the heart of warkworth and my top priority, near the beach for spectacular walks. It was a very relaxing stay.

Another lovely stay in Coquet Cottages, the weather was cold but very sunny, we were able to get out and about. Plenty of walking, to refresh the senses! Wonderful welcome pack, Coquet do spoil us :-)!  The cottage is charming and as with all the cottages, it’s like home from home, every need is catered for.  Looking forward to another lovely break in this part of the world, many thanks.

Ken and Christine, January 2020

A lovely way to start the New Year – thank you!

Anne and Barbara, January 2020

Hotspur Cottage was faultless – perfect. Very thoughtful welcome pack and everything was fresh, clean and welcoming.  We had fabulous fish and chips at The Fish Shack in Amble, enjoyed the local pubs and had a lovely long walk along the beach to Alnmouth.  Overall a very relaxing break and managed to fit in a couple of Chrismassy films – perfect in the lovely cosy atmosphere!  We will be back 🙂

Warren and Marie, Dot and Boo, November 2019

Another fantastic visit to Hotspur Cottage. We had a trip on the X18 bus to Morpeth Christmas market and shopping in the shopping centre, a great time and a lovely place to visit, especially if the weather isn’t so good. Newcastle on Saturday with again the Christmas market. Hermitage Inn is our favourite pub for food and drink, they also have music.

Julie and Hugh, November 2019

This is our seventh booking through Coquet Cottages and, as ever, the welcome pack and other touches were well received.  We love Northumberland, and Warkworth in particular, as well as the surrounding area, including seeing ‘The Toon’ win at St James’ Park.  Warkworth beach is our favourite walk but Bamburgh beach is well worth a visit.  Have a mouch in Alnwick and visit the Castle and Garden.  Recommended foodie places are Bertram’s in Warkworth for breakfast, Cabosse in Warkworth for hot chocolate!! Jaspers in Amble for dinner (Amble is a lovely port). Looking forward to our next trip in the Spring.

David and Christine, November 2019

Once again we have enjoyed a lovely break here in Hotspur Cottage.  Smudge knows his way around after so many visits and is in his element on the various beaches.  Our thanks for the ’30th visit’ visit, much appreciated, where did all that time go?!  Also thanks for all the goodies left to welcome us.  Very best wishes to you all and hope to be here again in the not too distant future, many thanks.

Norman, Irene and Smudge, October 2019

Hotspur cottage is like home from home. There is everything you could possibly need and the welcome pack is wonderful. The location, in the heart of Warkworth, makes it perfect for walks along the riverside, up to the castle and is only a short distance to the lovely beach. There are two lovely pubs on the doorstep, both offering a good choice of food and both welcome muddy boots and muddy dogs! We have stayed in Coquet cottages several times and have found the booking system very easy and the staff extremely helpful. The welcome basket was really good. It contained everything you need and more, to start your holiday. You don’t usually expect such an array of goodies, wine, beer, fresh scones, wonderful. I loved the decor and the location in the village. The company is wonderful, and I have no reservations in recommending it to, all our family and friends.

The weather was not kind to us on our 4th annual Warkworth mini-break. We usually stay in a hotel with our lab but decided on a cottage now we have 2 labs. The cottage was faultless-perfect. Very thoughtful welcome pack. Everything was fresh, clean and welcoming. We had fabulous fish and chips at the Fish shack in amble, enjoyed the local pubs and had a lovely long (wet) walk along the beach to Alnmouth! Overall a very relaxing break and due to the weather, we managed to fit in a couple of Christmassy films – perfect in the lovely cosy atmosphere! We will be back.

A very cosy and well furnished cottage. We have stayed in Hotspur Cottage before and knew the cottage and area of Warkworth. We liked the fresh bread, water and milk. Very handy for village amenities and the bus stop to Alnwick, Morpeth and train from Alnmouth to Newcastle.

Superb property in great location. Has everything you could need. Very comfortable, didn’t want to leave! Great location in centre of Warkworth. Lovely village with good local facilities and walks, Fresh bread and all essentials in Welcome Basket which means you don’t need anything for day one. We liked how cosy and homely it felt, the king size bed and TV in the bedroom.

A beautifully presented cottage in a good location with everything that one could need. By far the nicest cottage we have stayed in. Lamps lit, which made it more inviting. The welcome baskets a lovely surprise. A lot of thought had gone into it. Milk, bread and butter also much appreciated. Will definitely use Coquet Cottages again. Thank you.

The Wilson Family, June 2019

Fabulous little cottage ideally located in Warkworth. Everything is of the standard you’d expect from Coquet Cottages, comfy bed, quality bedding and towels, Temple Spa products in the bathroom and great welcome pack for us and our dog. No allocated parking but plenty of free parking along the riverside.

Hotspur Cottage is chocolate box and so picturesque! Also beautifully maintained, the owners have though of everything a holiday maker will need to thoroughly enjoy their stay in Warkworth. We particularly enjoyed the scones and we loved that our dogs received a welcome pack. The local produce included was wonderful! We had a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back but we will choose a different cottage next time as we know it will be as luxurious and wonderful as Hotspur. Thank you so much for a great holiday.

Hotspur was so luxurious! The scones went down a treat with my husband. Thank you for a lovely stay.

A beautiful cottage called Hotspur Cottage in the centre of Warkworth, very high standard of accommodation in a modern, well equipped and centrally located in the town. Great access to Warkworth Castle and 15 minutes walk to a fabulous beach.

12 out of 10! Absolutely perfect! For once I didn’t want to return home!! We will be back!!!

We enjoyed our stay at Hotspur cottage it was to the same high standard we have experienced at all our previous visits to Coquet Cottages. The very high standard you have achieved is second to none. Every aspect has been covered to please all ages and tastes. A splendid holiday cottage in every respect. Firstly we love the village of Warkworth and the surrounding area. In this instance we needed a cottage to accommodate two people and our previous good experience with Coquet Cottages meant we did not feel the need to look at any other cottages. After our very first visit to Coquet we have never considered looking at any others holiday cottages.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotspur cottage it was spotlessly clean and everything was to a very high standard. The welcome pack was a very nice touch with everything we needed for when we arrived the location was brilliant near to everything in the village and was an excellent base to explore Northumberland. We will definitely return and will recommend to all our family and friends .

Amazing cottage in a great location. The 2 local pubs served great food and were both dog friendly which suited us perfectly. The cottage itself had everything you required, and inspired me to get our own bathroom done into a wet room 🙂 I also loved the little welcome pack that you provided.

This has been our second holiday with Coquet Cottages, certainly not be our last already looking to book a cottage big enough to accommodate our grandchildren in the summer. We celebrated our 52nd wedding anniversary and appreciated the card and chocolates. From the wonderful Coquet team, the attention to detail one receives from this company is second to none and we have had holiday cottages all over the country. As we are both originally from Northumberland there is nothing we can say that is not complementary.

Another wonderful break in Warkworth and the cottage was great as always. Treats for both us and the pooches were great and appreciated very much. Weather was autumnal but good walks on the beach. Pub food was good in the Hermitage, The Ship at Newton is great for beer and crab sandwiches and The Old Boathouse at Amble fantastic for seafood- don’t have a snack before you go.

Thank you for a wonderful stay in your lovely cottage. Our arrival was so welcoming and the birthday card was a lovely touch. Perfect location for walking Archi the collie who has enjoyed every moment of our stay.

2nd time in Warkworth with Coquet Cottages and once again fab accommodation. Every little detail has been taken care of and the pack of goodies was most welcome. Warkworth is an excellent base for exploring the Northumbrian Coastline and we will certainly be back to explore some more.

A very happy week in Warkworth and your lovely cottage. Thank you so much for all the extra touches – we felt very welcome. It was good to have such a comfortable and attractive base. Special memories: first seeing Alnmouth from the Warkworth to Alnmouth road, seeing seals from the riverside walk to Amble and round Holy Island, reading your books on a sunny day in Dunstanburgh Castle, picnics on the riverside watching a heron and coming back to a comfy bed.

Had a lovely relaxing week. Enjoyed morning walks along the river with the dog. Enjoyed an unusually warm week, only had rain one day. Cottage was lovely and welcome basket appreciated by all of us. Love this part of the country.

What a delightful cottage. We felt at home as soon as we walked through the door. We came for this break to let our 13 year old Labrador who is also blind have some ‘fun in her old age’. The beaches at all nearby towns are fantastic for the purpose with no obstacles for her to contend with and what a joy to see her scamper in and out of the water like a pup again. We has some lovely lunches out but also did a lot of home cooking, with all implements needed.

Our second time to Northumberland and to a Coquet Cottage. You have us hooked! Hotspur lived up to our expectations – welcome baskets were thoroughly enjoyed by humans and canines. A long weekend – never long enough!

This was our second visit to a Coquet Cottage and we weren’t disappointed. We will come again and hopefully in the very near future. It’s a fabulous area for ‘doggie’ holidays and Connie our 3 year old whippet had a wonderful time racing about on the beach.

Short but very sweet. First time up to Northumberland up to Northumberland but we just fell in love with the beautiful scenery and people were so friendly. What a ‘fab’ start with our lovely hamper and flowers what a great touch. It was such a welcoming thing to do.

This is such a great cottage! It’s my fourth time staying in a Warkworth holiday cottage and this has definitely been the most well- equipped and comfortable we have stayed in! The dogs really appreciated their treats- thank you! And we really appreciated our welcome hamper as well as the copious towels, fresh flowers, the lovely toiletries, the ample cleaning products, the comfy bed and quality bed linen and all the other little touches that take this cottage from good to outstanding. And the fact that you welcome 2 dogs is just fabulous.

5 years since we were here on our honeymoon. Just as fabulous as first time round! This cottage is so relaxing and has everything you need for a relaxing rest. The personal touches, gift packs are exceptional. Warkworth is a magnet to us as is this fantastic cottage. p.s wedding anniversary was wonderful.

Lovely welcome pack, very thoughtful gesture. Very quiet and cosy cottage. Bed very comfortable and towels so soft and plentiful. Gray’s just up the front street great for jewellery and bags – so cheap but very good quality. We have self-catered before but this beats all. A week wasn’t long enough!

Have never been to this area before but loved the friendly people and dog friendly pubs. Even at Bamburgh Castle we were given treats for our dog. We have a mean at the Castle Inn at Bamburgh (in the dog friendly walled garden), excellent. Visited Hadrian’s Wall at Chester Ford and were given more dog treats. Cottage superb and very quiet. Excellent facilities and lovely welcome pack.

A fabulous cottage with everything we want to make us comfortable and relaxing, including a wonderful welcome pack. Thank you for the flowers were also gorgeous and lasted ages. We’ve been using the Stanners (at the end of Brewery Lane) as a sunny spot to sit and relax the end of a long day out. The local National Trust and English Heritage castles and priories are dog welcoming and friendly with dogs allowed in the grounds on leads. Barter Books in Alnwick is fantastic and dog friendly too. There is a wonderful art gallery at Felton (dog friendly) and the Running Fox is a wonderful artisan bakery and tea room. Marvellous local pubs, all dog friendly in the village with great food. The Fenwick gallery is lovely and very friendly owners.

Many thanks for the lovely welcome pack. Enjoyed the river walks from the cottage and having a coffee watching the Heron fish: lovely walks from Lindisfarne, the Roman forts and Hadrian’s wall, fish and chips from Amble, the arts festival in Alnmouth and amazing burger and chips from the Masons Arms. We love Northumbria, will definitely be back.

We have enjoyed discovering this area of the country and Warkworth is the perfect base. A cosy comfortable cottage to come back to- what more is there to need of an ideal holiday?

Have had a great week and the weather has been kind! Cottage very comfortable, fantastic area – Cragside worth a visit, fantastic walk Craster to Dunstanburgh and a great day spent at Holy Island. Thanks for a great week.

We both had historic North East connections, more city than coastal. Had a ball re-discovering places we had only passed through. Enjoyed the village, the ducks and the cottage. We will be back. Eating is always a big part of the holiday for us so if you like fish and veggie food go to The Old Boathouse in Amble.

This cottage is everything it says on the internet… luxury! Congratulations you have provided everything to make this a holiday to remember, Warkworth pubs and shops were excellent. Everywhere we went local people friendly and please to see our little dog. Welcome pack very nice, we liked the personal touch.

Third visit here and still wonderful. Thanks for the welcome pack with Easter Eggs. Spent time ‘doing’ a few castles and stately homes with long walk from Craster to the Ship at Low Newton. Good weather too! We’ll be back of course.

Completely fallen in love with the cottage, Warkworth and the stunning Northumbrian coastline. The cottage is gorgeous and ideal for our needs and the attention to detail first class! Mark, Julie and Stephanie cannot do enough for you. Now that we have discovered Warkworth we’ll definitely return – thanks for a fantastic holiday!

Had a lovely weekend break at this beautiful cottage. Perfectly situated and lovely welcome pack and flowers. The weather held out for us too. We managed to visit lots of castles, lovely beaches for the dog to play and the river walks were great.

We have had a lovely holiday in this beautiful part of the country. Deserted beaches and breath taking views. Hotspur Cottage has been a fantastic base, comfortable and well equipped. Have enjoyed calling at the Masons Arms for a drink after walking dogs. Try the butcher in Bamburgh – the sausages are the best!

A great holiday! The cottage and location were perfect and to put the icing on the cake the weather was perfect. The scenery is breath taking and we never get tired of this county no matter how often we get up here. Thank you to Coquet Cottages for a beautiful and spotless holiday retreat.

Well this morning is the start of our last day in Northumberland, and what a great time we’ve had. We arrived with no thought out plan and nowhere to stay but we soon got that sorted. Dale told us about Hotspur Cottage and Julie welcomed us. What a great team! The cottage and location has been great, a good spot to explore from. We’ve played golf, visited castles and walked along beautiful beaches.

An amazing cottage! After a long drive from Lincolnshire, what more could one want than to walk into a warm, cosy, inviting place. The welcome pack was a great gesture! Especially the red wine. Dining at ‘The Old Post Office’ is highly recommended. Walking to Amble (approximately 1 mile), the Old Boathouse is definitely worth having lunch watching the small trawlers come and go, unloading their fresh produce was great. To walk off a few calories we then headed off to Alnmouth beach… breathtaking! I love coming to this part of the world and would certainly return to Hotspur Cottage. Happy days!

Julie. You have now totally spoilt us as far as holiday cottages are concerned. Hotspur Cottage is a wonderful little gem in the most beautiful little village. We couldn’t complain about a single thing…other than the fact we had to come home.

A cosy cottage providing a warm welcome in a lovely location. A most enjoyable long weekend, despite the continuing poor weather. We didn’t want to leave and look forward to returning to the same cottage – again and again!

A wonderful place to relax and curl up after a bracing day walking on this stunning coastline. The perfect escape to de-stress for a long weekend.

The cottage was warm and comfortable and very well equipped. The perfect retreat after a day of walking along such a wonderful coastline. A great welcome pack and a very comfortable bed.

Booking was easy and straight forward and the cottage exceeded all expectations. All the finishing touches made it very special for my partners 60th birthday. We will certainly be booking with Coquet Cottages again. We just love Northumberland and now we have find some quality accommodation that takes pets we will certainly be back very soon!

Thanks again to you all it was great (as usual). The lemon drizzle cake was top draw and the home made jam superb – another niche there Julie!!

We were delighted with the cottage and how we were made to feel so welcome on arrival. Thanks for a great holiday – the superb weather was a real bonus!

The cottage was well situated, being tucked away from the centre of the village. This particular cottage was also just the right size and layout for a couple on a short break. It is hard to say anything negative about the cottage and the company as everything for us was perfect.

When we first entered the cottage it was lovely and warm, the lights were on in the kitchen area making it look so cosy. The welcome pack and flowers such a special touch, making us feel so welcome. Booking was easy and the website very informative.

The cottage was very comfortable and welcoming, in the heart of the village central for the river walks. We were very satisfied and would book again with Coquet Cottages.

Very easy and convenient, we really enjoyed our stay at the cottage and will be visiting again. We especially liked having good quality WiFi at the cottage!

Location, location, location! Nothing disappointed – a well run operation.

The cottage was well placed for local amenities e.g. pub, restaurants, village shop, bus stops. It offered everything we needed for two people. The instruction sheet was detailed and very helpful. We asked for a 4.5 tog quilt and this was supplied with no problem.

We like everything about the cottage. The online booking works really well. We love the fact that you can book short breaks. This time we even managed to get take away Steak and Kidney puddings from the Topsy Turvey cafe!

The cottage was lovely, but the small touches made it stand out from others we have stayed at, for example the welcome pack, the dog treats and the fluffy towels. It was also in a great location, for us having 2 dog friendly pubs and a nice river walk, plus close to the beach.

This was our third visit to Hotspur cottage, and we hope to come again next year! I think that says it all – we love the cottage and the area.

Excellent- we had an enjoyable, comfortable and fulfilled stay, the week went by all too quick! We spent our days visiting the many different locations from morning to dusk, but exhausted returning to the cosy cottage was lovely . Thank you.

Already Northumberland-lovers, but this was our first time staying in Warkworth and with Coquet Cottages… v. impressed by both! A lovely cosy little cottage in a fab location, there’s so much to do right on your doorstep.

Do I really have to leave? We’ve had a lovely time in this beautiful place. This place is so pleasant and picturesque, straight out of a romantic painting. The bed is extremely comfortable, a few early starts were delayed as I just didn’t want to get up!

Our 3rd stay in Warkworth however our 1st stay at this cottage and as usual, Coquet Cottages make it a home from home, even the dogs settled in straight away as if it were their own home.

Enough has already been said about the cottage. We can only endorse the quality and the extras which make it a class of its own.

This is our third visit here and as usual, Julie thinks of everything to make her visitors comfortable. Many thanks for the ‘goodies’ and the dog treats too, much appreciated by Smudge.

We only live 4 hours down the A1 and we can’t believe we’ve never found this amazing place before! As far as cottage holidays are concerned – we have been totally spoilt. Julie – you’ve certainly earned your 5 stars with pride. Hotspur Cottage is pure luxury.

We booked to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary and what a brilliant time we’ve had. We don’t want to go home but we will definitely be back.

Sob! We don’t want to leave! The house is lovely and Warkworth is a stunning village. To whoever is staying next; lucky you!

What a lovely start to married life! Many thanks for the flowers, champagne and cake. We enjoyed mixed weather, some fantastic meals and we recommend Zecca, Topsey Turveys and the hot chocolate at Cabosse. We look forward to a return visit!

Second stay at the cottage in 15 months. If you have a dog we recommend Druridge Bay, beach is to die for – absolutely beautiful.

Like everyone else, we’ve really enjoyed our stay, it’s just gone too quick! Thanks for a cosy and comfortable stay. The locals have made us feel most welcome – quite refreshing!

We have had a lovely stay at the cottage and will be back! Warkworth is a wonderful village – so picturesque and we have had fantastic weather.

Wonderful break in the cottage – thank you for the excellent welcome pack. The weather has been better than we could have hoped for, perfect for walking and taking in the amazing scenery. Many thanks for providing such a great holiday base.

Had a superb week in Hotspur Cottage. Excellent accommodation – very clean and nice little touches everywhere. Very comfortable bed and great kitchen – the milk & butter in the fridge and the box of ‘things you may have forgotton’ were really appreciated. We are already thinking of dates when we can come back!

Came to Warkworth and the cottages on the recommendation of a friend saying it was great here – and how right she was! Cottage is a home from home with everything catered for and more.

The cottage is wonderful, compact and complete, everything you need is on the doorstep. This is our first time in Warkworth and boy have we fell in love with it! If we won the lottery we would move here tomorrow… heres hoping!

This is our 3rd year visiting this lovely village, and our first at this delightful cottage. Every need is catered for, the attention to detail is perfect, from the little box of ‘things you may have forgotton’, to the wonderful welcome pack, every need has been thought about and attended to. Coquet Cottages will be the first place we search for on the internet for available places to stay.

Where to start! The cottage is just as lovely as we thought it would be – perfect location. Thanks to Julie for the lovely welcome gifts – enjoyed the cake too!

We both absolutely love the cottage – really everything you could want here and a very welcome basket of goodies. Also thank you to Julie for the welcome phone call.

What a lovely cottage! Snug, cosy with all the home comforts. Thank you for the welcoming bottle of wine, teabags and flowers – a first for me. Thank you once again for a lovely and relaxing week, we’ll definitely be back, either to Hotspur Cottage or to another of your lovely holiday homes.

Back for our 2nd stay at Hotspur Cottage, this time for our anniversary weekend. Thank you so much for the wine, flowers and anniversary card, it is much appreciated. We look forward to coming back to stay again in this beautiful part of the world.

Peace, quiet and tranquility that’s what we wanted and that’s what we got. Fabulous cottage and everyone so friendly. Lovely walks, what more can we say, we will definitely be back.

Our first visit to this lovely cottage – we love it here. The cottage is just perfect for 2 people. We’ve had a wonderful week, thanks for the treats. This cottage suits us perfectly. We hope to return.

I think the key to your success is the personal touch. It gives the customer faith in your product when booking and having arrived at the property the quality of that service is realised in the gem of a place they find themselves staying.

Thank you very much for a wonderful stay, our honeymoon was perfect!

A wonderful holiday in a lovely cottage located in a marvellous village. I was fortunate enough to meet Julie on arrival at the cottage; she is a perfect treasure.

Thank you for a wonderful cottage and allowing us to bring our two Labradors. We will certainly be contacting you again to book another holiday.

We had a really lovely, relaxing holiday and will definitely recommend Coquet Cottages to everyone. Your cottages clearly set the very highest standard for holiday accommodation and Hotspur Cottage is the best furnished and equipped of all the cottages we have holidayed in – and there have been many! We wish all business were run like yours.

Excellent service and nice to deal with people who obviously care.

It made our first holiday in beautiful Northumberland the most memorable experience. Every single day had a “WOW!” moment. Perfect!

From the moment you walk in the door you know you’re in the lap of luxury. So comfortable, homely and luxurious. The welcome pack (lemon cake was divine) such a lovely touch. We want to try all the cottages!

We have stayed in a lot of cottages over the past few years, since our 2 children have grown up. Having our dog, Molly, we have scoured websites for first class accommodation that does allow dogs. Very few we have found. Then happened upon Coquet Cottages! Wow, what can we say that’s not already been said? Absolutely fabulous.

Unlike other holiday cottages where we have stayed, you always seem to go the extra mile, and these little touches make all the difference. The cottage is sheer luxury!

The cottage felt warm and homely immediately on arrival. It was so nice to have all the extra thoughtful touches that made a real difference, and made the stay feel special. Most importantly, the bed was SOOO comfortable!

The personal touches were really nice. It’s the first time we’ve ever had a call to ask if everything was ok whilst at a holiday cottage which gave you the feeling that the owners cared about your stay.

The personal touch of Julie contacting us, or us contacting Julie or the office if need be. Everyone is so polite but on a down to earth level. That’s what I like about the northeast, the genuineness of people.

I keep coming back because everything in the cottages is fanciable. I do not have to bring my own towels and pillows and crockery, as I have on other holidays. On previous holidays, I have spent the first few hours washing all the pots, pans and cutlery because they are not clean. I have never had to do that with your cottages.

We found the cottage furnished to a very high standard throughout and the welcome pack really topped off the experience. Being close to most of Warkworth’s amenities the location was excellent and very private.

Very impressive cottage. Lovely furnishings and very well equipped. Great location. We really enjoyed our stay. Would recommend Cragside, Lindisfarne and Bamburgh. Though Alnwick Castle was overpriced. Great beaches. We found the one at Warkworth convenient and lovely, especially early evening. Morrisons at Alnwick for basics, Waitrose at Hexham better! Thanks for providing a lovely place to stay!

Superb cottage, you feel like you’re stepping into your own little piece of luxury when you arrive! Thanks for the cake, wine and luxury touches.

Delightful cottage, thanks for the wine, biscuits and flowers, all very much appreciated. A lovely part of the world to visit, we have enjoyed it all. Good place to each in the village is Topsy Turvey’s – excellent. It is our first visit, but I’m sure it won’t be the last! Weather has been fantastic too. Thanks so much.

First visit to Hotspur – won’t be the last – property better than expected and a great base for the holiday. Well done to Julie and Mark, the conversion of this cottage is 1st Class.

It’s a great feeling to know you’re going back to Hotspur Cottage, where you are assured a warm welcome and so many thoughtful touches. We shall return for a 3rd time soon to enjoy your high quality accommodation and the many attractions of Northumberland. Thank you.

Our first visit to the area. A beautiful cottage in a beautiful village. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Thoughtful touches in a cottage that made us feel at home. We would like to return again. So much to see and do – we are exhausted, but very happy! Many thanks for providing such lovely accommodation.

The cottage is a real treasure and everything has been thought of. You really feel at home. We have had some lovely days out. Particularly walking from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle. A visit to Warkworth beach for a walk is a must. We shall definitely be back.

We have had a superb holiday here, lovely, well equipped cottage, good weather, easy access to so many attractions in the area. We hope to be back soon. Many thanks.

Once again thank you for your warm welcome. We love this place and we think Warkworth is a gem. We have walked on the beach every day except one and have re-charged our batteries ready for the next time.

We’ve had a wonderful few days. Christmas was hectic and we just wanted to chill which we certainly did! We were very impressed with the cottage and the champagne.

We love your cottage! So cosy to come back to each day. You have thought of every comfort! Our highlight – the walk from Craster to Embleton – wild and windy but absolutely stunning. We will be back. PS. thank you so much for the wine and flowers.

Had a wonderful time, The cottage is very comfortable – could have moved in!! Warkworth is so pretty and the people very friendly. Have done some lovely walks, the beaches are very pretty. My only regret – didn’t book the whole week!! Hope to be back.

Many thanks for the wine and biscuits, a lovely welcome. We have been so warm and comfortable here and apart from one rainy day, the weather has been kind to us. Toby the Doberman has enjoyed his usual walks on the beach at Alnmouth and is now a regular visitor to Barter Books in Alnwick, where he enjoys all the fussing over him. We have stayed at 2 of your other cottages and appreciate the thought and effort put into making these properties so pleasant and convenient. Once again, our thanks for an enjoyable stay.

Our first visit to this part of the country – very impressed. Warkworth is an idyllic village and the cottage an absolute delight. We have had a very enjoyable week and the weather has been superb – an unexpected bonus. The Masons Arms has catered very well for our evening meals. We have done the “main attractions” but would love to return to explore the less well known sites – and bring our golf clubs. Thank you so much for the warm welcome, a lovely start to our break.

Lovely, well-presented holiday cottage. The village is great for eating out and is so pretty and well kept. Really enjoyed our week’s break in this scenic part of the country.

Excellent accommodation – everything has been thought of. Good village pubs – also good food at the Coach Inn at Lesbury and Widdrrington Inn at Widdrington Village. River walks really beautiful and greatly appreciated by our dog Moly.

We are glad to count ourselves part of the Hotspur Cottage Fan Club. Very nice touches. It seems very remote from London. Of all the walks, gardens and castles, seascapes and fellsides, it would be unfair to pick a favourite. We were lucky though to be able to visit the Flower Show though.

Excellent Cottage with lots of home comforts and thought put in. Really enjoyed the river walk and rowing boats worth a go. Pubs lively and New Barns farm shop really good meat. Great walk then views from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle. Fish Smokery at Craster very good. You can go to Alnmout and part by the sea and have a great day, even if it pours (don’t tell anyone though!) Warkworth a lovely village, talk and walk along the river, past the old bridge and over the road then up to the castle for great views of Amble and the marina. A delightful week, we will be back!

Thanks for granting us another week in your beautiful cottage. The village is wonderful. What a surprise to walk into a typical-looking self-catering cottage and find a kitchen, bathroom and furnishings straight from a New York City Park Avenue apartment. VERY comfortable!

We had a lovely time & the cottage was the perfect Base for us to explore the beautiful area.

From the location, the standard of accommodation and our dealings with your staff we could not have asked for more!

A lovely weekend – warm, comfortable and relaxing. Much enjoyed. Thank you for everything!

Thank you so much for such a wonderful, warm and welcoming cottage. The welcome pack was much appreciated and Teddy liked his too. We would definitely stay with Coquet Cottages again in the future.

Two years ago I wrote in the visitors book that we would be back… A lovely wedding anniversary long weekend – 2 happy people, 2 happy dogs. Thank you once again and a gold star to Coquet Cottages. Never long enough – we will be back again!

Our second visit to Warkworth and Hotspur Cottage. Thanks again for those extra touches. We have had a fantastic week and we will definitely be back.

We have had a wonderful week here in Warkworth. This is our second visit and the village seems even more charming and appealing than before! The cottage is beautiful and equipped to a very high standard. The welcome pack was excellent, in particular the lemon drizzle cake!

What can I say that hasn’t already been said… This is truly a lovely little cottage with so much attention to detail. I’m so glad I chose Warkworth and Coquet Cottages for our break. This is our first visit to Northumberland but we will be back!

We’ve been coming to Northumberland for 25 years but have never stayed in Warkworth. Hotspur Cottage has been a delight! Early morning walks with Ruby by the river at 6:30am, watching the two herons has been amazing.

Very cosy cottage and peaceful. Good position to get to local pubs but nice and quiet location. Impressive countryside in the surrounding area with loads of pretty villages.

Our 2nd time at Hotspur Cottage. Thank you for the welcome packs, such a lovely touch. Great walks and friendly village, we love the surrounds, perfect location. The high light of our holiday was seeing a seal and watching the herons. Looking forward to returning to Warkworth.
