Guest Feedback for Kipper Cottage
Our visitors’ book in Kipper Cottage is great to read through over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and provide a wealth of recommendations on the best places to eat and visit, as well as some useful tips to benefit other guests. We also send Guest Surveys to all our guests after their holiday and some of their comments are listed here too.
Many guests have listed recommendations for the same lovely places, such as Warkworth Beach, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Barter Books, Holy Island and the Farnes, but for the sake of avoiding repetition in this particular format, we have omitted these recommendations, but they can still be read in full in the visitors’ books in Kipper Cottage.
We were very pleased with the space and good facilities. We were also impressed that the owner phoned us on the day we arrived to check that things were OK, and gave us his number in case we had any queries. This property suited us, as one member of the family is somewhat disabled and he could cope with the few number of stairs. We liked that there was a bathroom facility on each level.
We liked the personal touch of telephone calls from the company and also the owner soon after we arrived. The website was appealing, with good layouts of the cottages available. We liked the 360 virtual slide. It was clean. It seemed that the bedding was fairly new. It’s the first time we have slept well on a holiday because of the freshness, quality of bedding and mattress. We loved staying at Kipper Cottage….a great well needed holiday.
It was an excellent, well equipped and comfortable cottage. The peace at night was remarkable and the village location was a great base. It was easy to access the coast and for trips out. The terrace was a lovely place to relax early in the evening. The bed was comfortable and showers were excellent. This is one of the best places we have ever stayed. Thank you.
This was a beautiful cottage that was very well equipped. It was spacious and was suitable for 4 adults. It was also in a good location.
The property has a decent size kitchen diner, good private patio with views, and a comfortable bed.
Well decorated property with good taste and a comfy bed. Bluetooth and Netflix was very useful and the property had a good internet connection. The welcome basket had everything for cup of tea on arrival and a glass of wine for later.
We found the living room very comfortable after being outdoors all day and loved the location.
We enjoyed the wood burner at the cottage and its location. We would highly recommend Coquet Cottages to others.
This was a very well equipped property. The owners were also very helpful when our car broke down, in providing useful local information which we appreciated.
Our third Easter at Kipper Cottage and another fantastic weekend. The weather has been amazing even managing to have breakfast on the patio. Thank you for all the finish touches that make your cottage a truly special place to stay.
This was our second Christmas at Kipper Cottage and we arrived on Christmas eve and had a lovely meal at The Jolly Fisherman in Craster. On Christmas day we went down to the beach for a BBQ. Once again, we were pleased with the cottages facilities – we enjoyed using the fire on at night and was impressed. We recommend days out at Newton-by-the-Sea and drinks at the Ship Inn. Thanks again for a lovely Christmas!
We have thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Kipper Cottage but 3 days isn’t long enough! The cottage is extremely well kitted out and beautifully decorated – a real home from home. Unfortunately it rained most of the weekend but still managed a few walks along this beautiful coastline. Hopefully it wont be long before we are back!
Thank you for yet another wonderful stay in your lovely cottage. Everything we need right here!
Beautifully comfortable cottage which was well equipped. Really appreciated the welcome hamper and complimentary toiletries.
The location and pictures showing the standard of the interior was very appealing. It was Comfortable, clean and supplied with all the little things needed for a self catering holiday but so often you have to buy yourself e.g. foil, washing up liquid.
Another wonderful stay in our favourite Embleton holiday cottage (and I think we’ve just about tried them all now!). Kipper Cottage is an extremely welcoming and very well equipped cottage, we now almost regard it as a second home! Welcoming and extremely well equipped, decorated to a high standard, friendly and approachable owners, its just an absolute joy to stay there! Keep up the good work, you have the nicest cottages we’ve every stayed in, really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff, and an easy to use website.
This is our second stay in the wonderful Kipper Cottage. What can we say that we didn’t say last time, we love it! This homely little house is perfect, with everything you need, right down to the beach towels for the kids, the fishing nets, a cool box and the golf umbrella for the rain. We preferred to eat out of the village for our meals, but the location near to the beach at Embleton is ideal. The views at the back of the cottage are wonderful. The bed is so comfortable and the quality of the bedding is great. We loved it. Communication with the owner is very good too.
Excellent cottage, spotlessly clean and well equipped!
Fantastic location in one of our favourite Northumberland spots. Nice comfortable cottage with everything you need. Owner even telephoned evening before arrival to check we know directions etc for arrival and about area.
This is such a lovely cottage. We have been there twice (2 adults, 2 children). The cottage is well equipped to a very high standard with everything you could possibly want including a great selection of books in the living room! The beds are comfy, and the cottage is spotlessly clean. The location is great with a 20 minute walk/5 minute drive to the beach, easy parking, and a play park for younger children nearby. All in all, we have had a lovely time at Kipper Cottage on both occasions. We genuinely cannot think of anything negative to say about it, hence the 5* review.
Fantastic few days. It was a great holiday in such a lovely cottage. Brilliant weather too. When the rest of the county was suffering the opposite. Be back soon. Coquet Cottages are of a very high standard.

Thank you for our lovely stay at Kipper Cottage. A gorgeous house in an ideal location too. When we arrived the house was decorated wonderfully for Christmas which was a great surprise! Also a lovely festive Christmas hamper was provided. It was great to get away and relax, the cottage made it very easy to do so. We recommend beach walks along Low Newton and to The Jolly Fisherman at Craster. Thank you for making our Christmas so special, I’m sure we’ll be back soon.
Thank you Michael for the welcome telephone call and for the ‘welcome pack’ that was waiting for us when we arrived. A beautiful cottage that we found very easy to totally relax in and enjoy our break. Fantastic walks along stunning beaches to Craster one day, Beadnell another day – highly recommend Salt Water Cafe in Beadnell and then get the bus back – X18. The firework display on 5th November was absolutely stunning event – fantastic. My husband especially enjoyed the selection of real ales in The Greys Inn and the food was good too. Thanks for having us.

What a lovely cottage we have stayed in some beautiful parts of the UK and we would say this is one of our favourites. Perfect location for walking and beaches we both feel at home and the accommodation was just what we were looking for. We will be back again.

What an absolutely beautiful cottage we have had a fabulous time and made even better by the glorious weather! The garden is a wonderful suntrap which we have definitely made the most of. Thank you so much – we hope to stay here again soon!

Beautiful, tranquil Kipper Cottage has truly been a home from home and the location could not have been better. A few recommendations to share (especially for any guests with young children):
Spurelli’s ice cream parlour, puffin boat trips and Haxley Wildlife centre (all at Amble)
Soft play and crazy golf at The Bunker in Seahouses, Barter Books and Baliffgate Museum (Alnwick),
Lunch at The Potted Lobster in Bamburgh for the best fish and seafood ever, and a ‘proper’ menu for younger diners.
We really hope we have the opportunity to return.
