Comments from the Magdalene House Guestbook

Our visitors’ books are great to read through over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and provide a wealth of recommendations on the best places to eat and visit, as well as some useful tips to benefit other guests. We also send Guest Surveys to all our guests after their holiday and some of their comments are listed here too.

Many guests have listed recommendations for the same lovely places, such as Warkworth Beach, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Barter Books, Holy Island and the Farnes, but for the sake of avoiding repetition in this particular format, we have omitted these recommendations, but they can still be read in full in the visitors’ books in Magdalene House.

Coquet Cottages and Warkworth have been a wonderful find! We loved our stay. Thank you for all the additional touches, they made our stay extra special. Bertram’s in Warkworth is fabulous for breakfast. Neptune’s Fish and Chips in Seahouses (after our boat trip0 is also a must. I mentioned the above places because our family have gluten issues, and both were great for gluten free food.

This is a lovely house in a great quiet corner of Warkworth. This was home from home for a relaxing holiday.

It was perfect and we loved the flowers.

Another fabulous property. Very comfortable and well equipped. Daisy or dog loved her treats, which made a lovely change from the usual processed ones that we tend to avoid. We’re looking forward to next time.

This was a relaxing stay, and was our first visit to Warkworth, it is well worth the visit. Howick Gardens were lovely along with Cragside. This house was a beautiful house to stay in and the weather has been fabulous. We will visit again.

This is a lovely house which is well equipped and very comfortable. This was just right for a two week holiday in a super location. Everyone was friendly, including the neighbours and the locals. There are plenty of dog friendly eateries and lots of lovely beaches.

All portions at The Masons Ars are huge. The Fish Shack in Amble is wonderful and the sharing seafood platter would easily feed four people. All in all we had a fabulous week and cant wait to return. Thank you for a very comfortable base.

A return visit as we were last here in 2013. We have thoroughly enjoyed our visit, with great weather. We visited the local beaches (Warkworth, Embleton and Bamburgh) as well as their respective castles. The house is a great base, which was very comfortable. We enjoyed at lovely meal at Bertram’s an The Treehouse at Alnwick (for the wow factor). It is easy to get to Newcastle, Morpeth and Tynemouth to explore the area via car and train. Hopefully we wont leave it so long next time.

Thank you for providing such a wonderful base for our holiday in Northumberland. This was truly a home from home and we appreciated the human and canine welcome packs. We would defiantly like to come here again. The weather was kind to us and we enjoyed trips our at Alnwick Castle and Crazy Gold, Bamburgh and Seahouses, Amble (Lilly’s Landing is a must for breakfast) Morwick Ice cream Parlour. We also picked strawberries at Felton fruit farm. Warkworth was a beautiful base and we would highly recommend the cakes at Bertram’s for a treat. Thank you once again, we look forward to our next visit.

This was our first visit to Northumberland. The weather was perfect, which made us be able to cross many places we wanted to visit off our bucket list. Everywhere we have visited has more than exceeded our expectations. Alnwick Gardens, Dunstanburgh Castle, Craster, Howick Hall, Cragside to name a few and we had a train trip to Newcastle. I’m sure we will be back and would definitely book with Coquet Cottages again. The food and drink at Mason Arms was also very good.

We enjoyed the easy living well cared for cottage, it was perfect.

We have been really impressed with Coquet Cottages. Magdalene House was extremely warm and welcoming when we arrived after our long journey. Everything is really well made up, not just for comfort but there was also a little bit of luxury mixed with a home from home feel. Warkworth is beautiful, we will be back!

Had a fantastic 4 day break at this lovely property. Everything about the house was good quality, really nicely decorated, and just a short walk from a few pubs/restaurants. It was also near the beach for walks. The property was located in a peaceful cul de sac. We brought our dog and most places allowed well behaved dogs which was great. Coquet Cottages were excellent to deal with, and the welcome basket was well stocked for essentials to get you started. We would definitely recommend staying here.

October 2020

Pet friendly, luxury contemporary decor, convenient location for eating out and close to beach/walks. You were superb and the phone calls to make sure everything was okay were appreciated.

Alison October 2020

Its a lovely house with a cosy feel. We liked the location and the welcome basket, it was excellent!

Stephanie September 2020

Magdalene House has been an oasis of peace a tranquillity. We really enjoyed our much needed holiday visiting Warkworth, Alnmouth, Alnwick, Seahouses and Bamburgh. Amble have energised our minds and body with its absolute beauty. The house is lovely well equipped, comfortable and the welcome hamper is a lovely touch. Many thanks!

Bernadette, Kim, Zak, and Wilma

We had a lovely time here and the house is beautiful and very well stocked to make us feel at home. The hamper is a lovely touch and very gratefully received. We enjoyed our visit to nearby attractions and beaches. We can recommend the local Chinese and Italian takeaways. Many thanks!

The Greenwoods

We had a wonderful 4 nights in Magdalene House. This was the first time with Coquet Cottages and certainly wont be our last. Our three young children (11,6 and 3) had a fantastic time with the dressing up basket provided, one rainy morning. The delicious welcome hamper was very well received, this was a really lovely added extra. We visited Warkworth Castle which the children loved exploring. Dunstanburgh Castle, has amazing scenery and beaches galore. Food wise we had a delicious home cooked meal in the Warkworth House Hotel. We highly recommend the Warkworth Butcher in Amble when cooking in the cottage. Thank you for a wonderful well needed break.

Adam family

Had a wonderful stay in this lovely cottage. Thank you for your delicious hamper and the dogs thoroughly enjoyed their treats. Warkworth is a beautiful place to stay, very relaxing and a good base for visiting Northumberland. Loved Warkworth beach and walks by the river. We had an evening meal out at the Masons Arms, which was delicious and gave very generous proportions. We also enjoyed afternoon tea at The Village Tearooms in Alnmouth and a very nice Sunday lunch at the Hope and Anchor in Alnmouth. Visited Bamburgh ,Amble and had fish and chips at The Fish Shack and Alnwick. We also went to Druridge bay and Cragside so now have some very tired dogs! We hope to return next year as we love the comfort and luxury that Coquet Cottages offer and love this part of the country. Many thanks!

Bell family

We couldn’t have asked for more from this beautiful house and location. We enjoyed lunch at Bertram’s, ice cream at Spureli’s in Amble and some great fish at the Old Boathouse. We cant wait to come back to explore further in a few years, once our baby is walking.

The Lancaster family

Our second stay in Warkworth and Coquet Cottages, this was our first stay to Magdalene House which was very comfortable in a peaceful location. We have enjoyed our stay here very much and look forward to returning. We took a circular stroll round Alnmouth and picked up lunch (delicious) in Scotts to take on our walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle and then back in land via Dunstan. We revisited Cragside, as there are many walking trails available on the extensive, scenic property. We enjoyed Bamburgh and the circular walk via the stunning views over Budle bay, looking over to Holy Island. We went to Bertram’s in the afternoon for lunch. We ate out every night, booking is advised at the Northumberland Arms in Felton (15-20 mins away). Warkworth House Hotel and The Old Boat House in Amble was great. Everyone and everywhere have been very friendly.

The Robertsons

A wonderful weekend, exploring the castle and walks along the river. A lovely welcome to Magdalene House and enjoyed the hamper and flowers. Thank you and would love to return.

The Balderins August 2020

A beautiful special home! We loved everything about it and are hoping to book again for next year. Our teenager especially enjoyed the use of the top floor all to himself! Thank you so much for our welcome pack, which was a lovely touch. It’s been a perfect week, in your perfect home. Hope to see you all next year Magdalene House.

The Billingtons and Rosie August 2020

This is our second stay in this lovely house, beautifully equipped and with a magnificent view of Warkworth Castle. We visited the Fish Shack in Amble, which was excellent and the lovely shopping pods. Had a good red wine at the Masons Arms and enjoyed Bamburgh beach. We visited Alnmouth yesterday and enjoyed the village, with excellent seafood from Northumberland Street. Visited Jaspers in Amble last night where the chef cooked us a fantastic range of seafood. Jaspers had a great atmosphere and really great quality fish. Today we visited Dunstanburgh one of the great UK walks. Then had a lovely time at The Jolly Fisherman at Craster, which served crab soup and seafood platers, which was excellent! We also visited Boulmer beach and will definitely be back, we all love Northumberland!

Jay, Laura, Alison, Jake and Amber the Poochon August 2020

A lovely cottage and well needed break, thank you! Loved Warkworth beach, Alnmouth beach in the sun and enjoyed our usual trip to the Ship Inn.

August 2020

The house provided a very comfortable stay for the six of us, two couples and two children. The kitchen diner is well equipped and there is a big cosy lounge. The weather even permitted us to make use of the outside seating area! The location of this holiday home was great for us. It is in the middle of the village, so close to pubs and restaurants, with lovely walks along the river or to the beach from the front door. It is off the main road so it is quiet and there is a good supermarket a couple of miles away.

Lionel July 2020

Magdalene House is stunning, it is very spacious and beautifully furnished, everything you need is provided. We were welcomed by two beautiful hampers, one for us and one for the dog! The location in Warkworth makes it an ideal base for exploring Northumberland. Warkworth is a lovely little village, the river is beautiful and there are plenty of cafes and shops, its very close to the beach too. The house was spotless and we felt very reassured that everything had been thoroughly cleaned and adapted for these strange times. I can’t recommend Coquet Cottages highly enough. Their communication was excellent and the standard of their properties is second to none. Easily the best holiday property i have stayed in.

Charlotte July 2020

Very well presented house with everything needed for comfort. The location near the river is excellent and we particularly enjoyed the morning sunshine in the back garden.

Beautiful house, very well equipped, very clean, in a fantastic location. There was a good range of information – loved the hampers and the stuff provided for the dog – a lovely welcome.

A lovely property. We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. Thank you!

This is our fourth visit to Northumberland and third time staying in Warkworth.  It still remains our favourite place.  Lots of walking on the beaches, breakfasts at Bertram’s and Barter Books. A visit to Cragside, we love that the dogs are welcome in the vast grounds. Dinner at The Mason’s Arms and The Red Lion in Alnmouth. Love seeing Warkworth decorated for Christmas. Great stay.

Karen and David, December 2019

Thank you for all the goodies, much appreciated. Beautiful home, well-equipped, although we ate out most of the time. We would visit again, lovely area.

Colin, Sue and Friends, November 2019

A comfortable well-equipped house in a great location. A very minor problem with the oven was fixed incredibly quickly – thanks for that. This is the first Coquet Cottage we have stayed in and we will certainly use the company again – and recommend to others. Many thanks for a memorable stay.

Chris, Judith and Friends, October 2019

We have enjoyed a fabulous week exploring Northumberland. We have visited Alnwick Garden and Castle – both excellent. We spent a day at Kielder Reservoir and surrounding area, including a visit to the Observatory. If you visit and need dinner beforehand, The Pheasant Inn at Stannerstown is very good – opens at 6pm. Hadrian’s Wall proved to be a great day out together with some of the forts. We only ate locally once, at Jasper’s Bistro in Amble. A lovely cosy evening with great food and staff – worth a visit and walkable if you like a glass or two with your meal! A day at Cragside is a must. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this lovely, well-equipped house in a great location. Thank you.

The Buttery's and the Trainers, October 2019

Our fourth stay in Northumberland and second in a Coquet Cottage! Beautiful house and location. Thank you for dealing with a minor leak so fast! Being able to request stairgates, highchair, etc. was great. We had a 2 year old with us and both sets of his grandparents! We loved The Ship Inn at Newton by the Sea (the BEST pub!), Harbour Fish and Chips in Amble, Treehouse Restaurant at the Alnwick Garden and a walk around Alnwick – amazing. Loved Cragside – great playgrounds and lovely cafe.

The Wards and Hampsons, Sept 2019

Thank you for a wonderful stay in Magdalene House. Stayed for the weekend celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and our daughter’s 26th birthday, came also with Tom and his wife Caley who are newly married, it was their first time in Warkworth and they loved it! The home made our stay even more special.

Ian, Elaine and Heidi, September 2019

Beautiful Cottage – Magdalene House met our needs, felt comfortable and relaxing and tastfully decorated. Humans and doggy enjoyed the hampers of goodies- thank you. Love Warkworth, beautiful, historic. Enjoyed walks to Amble, Hauxley Beach, Buston Links and the cycle path walk to Alnmouth. We have walked our legs off this week, probably 2 inches shorter, but worth it! Great holiday, we’ll be back, Thanks.

Kim, Bernadette and Zak, September 2019

Lovely village and thank you for the wonderful hamper, delicious cakes/scones! Really enjoyed our holiday here. Ate at the Hermitage Inn twice, our sons are vegetarian and vegan and they were well catered for, and the people were charming. Highlights have been the Roman Forts at Housesteads, Chesters and the Roman Town at Corbridge. We also absolutely loved The Hermitage in Warkworth, what a beautiful and atmospheric place. The cottage was very clean and it was in a great location. We also went to Beamish Open Air Museum which is absolutely amazing – a completely immersive experience.

Ruth, Michael and Family

Our 2nd visit to Magdalene House, this time bringing mum and dad on holiday from New Zealand. Beautifully presented – love the Temple Spa toiletries and hamper, and scones – such a lovely touch, thank you (especially the wine that was from New Zealand!). Visited the Church, castle, Bertram’s, Cabosse chocolate shop in Warkworth, and even bought some art from the stunning Fenwick art gallery – well worth a visit. Took trips to Cragside, Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle and spent time on Alnmouth and Warkworth beaches – stunning. Scotts of Alnmouth was a lovely coffee shot to visit. Also lovely pub in Lesbury, The Coach Inn, and the kids enjoyed the Morwick Ice Cream Parlour/playground too! Lovely week, look forward to returning soon!

Sarah, Neil and Family, Aug 2019

A lovely week in a comfortable, well-equipped and spotless cottage. We’ve enjoyed the beautiful Northumberland coastline, lots of lovely dog walks on the beach. Highly recommend a visit to Cragside, so much to see – take a picnic if it’s a sunny day! Bertram’s in the village is great for breakfast and lunch, but fantastic for afternoon tea! Favourite restaurant is The Old Post Office in Warkworth (we booked weeks in advance) and Hooked in Alnmouth.

Liz, Katherine and Emily, April 2019

Only one word describes the whole Warkworth experience – peerless! The accommodation is 5 Star with luxurious appointments, from the comfortable bedrooms, relaxing lounge and a wonderfully fitted kitchen. But the area is the real star! We have had wonderful walking along vast beaches, beautiful scenery and as many castles as we could wish! Many good places to eat, notably The Boat House in Amble, and also Sea and Soil. The people are the friendliest we have met, and we have had a wonderful holiday! Would love to return as soon as possible!

Ann and Terry, Cheshire, April 2019

The Brealey's March 2019

This was our second cottage with Coquet so we had high expectations. Magdalene house was fantastic, spacious and everything done to a high standard. Three generations stayed including a baby and 2 dogs. The facilities provided for our baby were brilliant and it was nice to know they would be to a good standard. This cottage is in a great location and has the added bonus of parking which is rare in Warkworth and an enclosed garden. It was a easy walk along the river to the pubs and cafes. The welcome basket and toiletries were great and we will always recommend Coquet cottages and will no doubt be booking again soon.

The most beautifully presented rental we have been in with dogs. Everything thought of with a beautifully lit Christmas tree and human & doggy hampers on arrival. Cannot say enough how impressed we are with Coquet Cottages after all our years in UK walking with our friends and dogs. We will be booking again very soon. Thank you.

A comfortable, well equipped house in a great location. This is the first Coquet Cottage we have stayed in and we will certainly use the company again and recommend to others. Many thanks for a memorable stay.

Thank you for all the goodies, much appreciated. Beautiful home, well equipped, although we ate out most of the time. Would visit again, lovely area.

Excellent choice for our requirements. Beautifully appointed and well equipped. Spotless and with some lovely touches…generous hamper and one for the dog! Had only looked at Coquet cottages in this area. Used filters to select 5* and Gold standard.
Wanted to be within walking distance of Warkworth. We liked the Generous and contained local products, the Scones on a cake stand looked lovely. Standard of decor and furnishings, Cleanliness and an extremely well equipped kitchen.

Perfect. Comfortable. Stylish, comprehensively appointed kitchen. Even down to the toiletries! Comfortable beds & bedding. Plenty of storage space. Altogether extremely comfortable. Peaceful location.

Our fourth stay in Magdalene House and it never disappointing. Warkworth beach is one of our dogs favourites. Finally, after two attempts we secured a booking for dinner at The Old Post Office bistro and it was worth the wait. See you in 2019 & 2020.

Our first stay here at Magdalene House to celebrate an 80th birthday; we would like to say a big warm thank you to the owners and to Coquet Cottages for their very generous welcome gifts, and for a wonderful stay in a brilliant house and beautiful environment. The weather has been kind to us all weekend, and we have enjoyed the beach walks at Embleton and Newton in particular, alongside Warkworth and Alnmouth; the views were spectacular and the wildlife most interesting. Each of us have had a wonderful weekend here. Many thanks again for making this weekend all the more special: we hope very much to return to Magdalene House soon!

This is our 2nd visit to a cottage from Coquet Cottages and we are not disappointed. The house was always warm to come home to after a day out. Hope to be back next year.

Thank you Julie for all your thoughtful touches in this lovely house. It made us all feel very welcome and at home. The weather has been fantastic for march! We have been able to go out all day walking and visiting the area. A really wonderful restful break. I’m sure we will be back again soon.

A big thank you to Julie for our bottle of champagne and anniversary card, it was a wonderful gesture and very much appreciated, thanks also for helping Dean organise my bouquet of anniversary flowers. As usual the house was wonderful – we’ve had a fantastic weekend which we really needed after a bad few months, see you very soon.

Thank you once again for a fantastic weekend. This is our 2nd stay at Magdalene House and it was just as fabulous as last time. Everything you could possibly need at your fingertips. The weather has been very kind to us yet again. We have been walking every day for miles on the stunning beaches. Can’t wait to come again soon. Think this is the only place you can shatter three weimaraners!

It is a lovely house in a great location. My dog likes running around the living room and sitting near the fire! I would love to come again and I can’t wait to go on the beach tomorrow!

Lovely home in a great location. A real treat to have so many great walks from the house! Teenage sons jogged and visited St. James’ football ground in Newcastle. Saw salmon leaping on riverside walk. Ate crab from Amble – excellent. All in all a happy time had by all of us.

Back to Northumberland. We come at every opportunity we have and our second Coquet Cottage! What a wonderful house. We were enchanted from the moment we entered on Friday afternoon. The children were delighted with their bag of sweets out of the welcome pack and my husband was delighted with the Old Speckled Hen!! Beautifully decorated throughout – a real home from home. Thank you. Northumberland is a beautiful piece of England and we never tire of the wide expanse of beaches, the stunning atmospheric castles and the friendly people. We will be back!

Managed to pick the best week of the year! Fantastic weather which made Warkworth beach the highlight. Great holiday home with everything you need. Very comfortable.

We have had a fabulous time in Warkworth and the surrounding coast – such a lovely part of England. We always enjoy pottering around Warkworth: shops, river, beach. Also enjoyed a trip to Holy Island, Bamburgh, Alnwick Town, Castle and Gardens. Finishing with fish and chips on the beach at Alnmouth – lovely way to finish a great break.

Thank you Julie for a lovely weekend at Magdalene House and a very special thanks for all the finishing touches to make my dad’s 50th a memorable one. We all had a fantastic time.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our week here. The house definitely met our expectations and we appreciated all of those extra touches including the basket of goodies on arrival. Thank you very much.

I have thoroughly enjoyed myself in Northumberland. When we first walked in the house we were amazed at how beautiful it was. We have been to many places and have enjoyed all of them. Our visit to Northumberland has been brilliant. Thank you for the amazing opportunity.

We have had a wonderful stay at Magdalene House. The house is charming, delightfully decorated and lacks absolutely nothing. The scenery and lovely villages are great and Alnwick Castle is fantastic. Thank you for making our golden wedding anniversary celebration with family and friends so memorable.

This was our first visit to Northumbria and we’ve loved every minute. Staying in such a lovely house and village has helped, the welcome pack was lovely, every thing you need is in the house. The people up here are really friendly. We’ve been on some wonderful walks. We still have lots of things we want to see and do, so hopefully we’ll be back, and definitely staying in this house. Thank you.

Northumberland still never ceases to amaze. Thank you very much for the wonderful welcome pack. The Newcastle Brown Ale was much appreciated by the men.

We have all really enjoyed our stay here in Warkworth – our first time in Northumberland. The house was excellent and the welcome pack was a lovely thought. The information sheets and file were very useful, and very comprehensive. Thank you.

Our first stay in Warkworth after passing through on a previous holiday to Northumbria and it is such a lovely village – everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. It is so nice to be somewhere were strangers say “hello” to you in the street. The house is near perfect. We particularly liked showering with a view of the castle. The welcome basket was a nice touch and James made full use of the games under the stairs. Thanks again! I’m sure we’ll be back.

We’ve really enjoyed our stay in Warkworth. Everyone is so friendly. all of the beaches we found from Warkworth northwards are beautiful and great for dogs. The house has been one of the best we’ve stayed in. Thank you!

A very enjoyable week; house ideal, village very impressive, some lovely walks. Finished the week off with a paddle on a deserted beach! wonderful. This is a fantastic area – with wonderful, friendly people… Thank you.

Lovely house with every comfort… Lots of thought has gone into this home – all of the finishing touches & modern conveniences (no dirty washing to go home!). Thanks for all of your hard work Julie & Mark.

Had a lovely weekend in this beautiful house. Lots of great walks, drives and castles. Warkworth is a gorgeous village with a wonderful atmosphere and history. Everyone must visit holy island – even though it was very cold it was well worth a visit. Fantastic trip rounded off by a cold but fantastically refreshing swim in the sea on our last day.

lovely week to really appreciate the ‘real’ Northumberland – previously only dropped our children off at Durham and Newcastle universities! Great house equipped to a very high standard, which makes the holiday a pleasure. Thank you – look forward to our next visit.

Just arrived on our honeymoon to a lovely welcome package and a lovely welcome call from Julie. The cottage is fantastic. We couldn’t ask for more for a week away. Lots of lovely treats for Milo our Labrador too! Warkworth is lovely and the castle is awesome too. Its always nice to come home to a lovely warm house – it felt just like home! Thank you again for a lovely honeymoon.

Our first stay here at Magdalene House, to celebrate an 80th birthday; we would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the owners, and to Coquet Cottages, for their so generous welcoming, and for a wonderful stay in a brilliant house and a beautiful environment. The weather – though cool – has been kind to us all weekend, and we have enjoyed the beach walks at Embleton and Newton in particular, alongside Warkworth and Alnmouth. The views were spectacular and the village most interesting – we have all had a wonderful weekend here.

This is our second time staying here at Magdalene House, and we had a wonderful holiday yet again! The welcome basket was wonderful and the house is beautiful! We recommend a visit to Dunstanburgh, Warkworth Castle and the Alnwick Treehouse – for either a visit or a meal. We will definitely be back for yet another visit, as we love Northumberland!

Thanks very much indeed, Magdalene House is just brilliant. Our 31st anniversary was spent in style. We shall see you again.

What a wonderful long weekend in this beautiful house. Birthday treat for my husband (and me!). Our first visit to Northumberland and Coquet Cottages – we’ll be back.

Lovely house, it had everything we needed and more. Extremely dog friendly (they loved the welcome basket and the dog beds!) and the beaches are fantastic. Lily (7 months old) was extremely well catered for. She loved the Disney travel cot and towel – good nights sleep were had by all!

Fantastic holiday home equipped with everything that we needed. Lovely area and very friendly people. Sunny days and mild temperatures; we struck lucky with the weather! Will definitely be back and will recommend the house to family and friends.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our week here. The house definitely met our expectations and we appreciated all those extra touches including the basket of goodies upon arrival.

Enjoyed another week in lovely Warkworth with the family. Different house this time but the same splendid welcome awaited us. Such a beautiful house enjoyed by all. Many, many thanks once again.

Fantastic week here – what a beautiful house (probably the best holiday let we have stayed in) which was great as we stayed in and watched so much of the Olympics – well done Team GB!

Only just discovered Northumberland – fabulous scenery, friendly people and of course the wonderful accommodation! We covered a lot of ground in a week, but will definitely be back for all the places we missed. Thank you so much for the welcome baskets and for such a well-equipped house in a great location.

Julie, Mark and Stephanie, I have just had a lovely 50th birthday weekend! The house was so comfortable and your attention to detail made it a very special weekend. Many thanks.

We loved the complete attention to detail with the decor – it was like a home from home and we are quite particular people! The furnishings were superb, and the touches like the welcome pack, robes and slippers (although we took our own slippers!), lovely soft towels all added to the experience. The booking process was straightforward and the key in the key safe as promised! My wife loved the doggy welcome pack too!

Had a great week, house really well decorated with all home comforts. Great location so couldn’t ask for more.

Excellent website with lots of photos and info and an easy booking process. Communication was good and everything we needed was at hand. It felt like a home from home and we all settled in quickly including our dog, Poppy. This is the first time we have booked a cottage and gone self catering and the first time we have taken our dog. It will not be the last.

This was the first visit for our friends and they were overwhelmed by the thought and beautiful detail given to make our stay as comfortable as possible…the wow factor greets you immediately and our overall experience was wonderful yet again. We hope to return again very soon. Thank you.

The cottage was very well equipped, and we instantly felt at home. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise (in particular the tasty lemon cake!) The location is superb for all the areas we wanted to visit during our stay.

As a return visitor knowing the quality to expect, also the welcome pack had something for everyone. The beds in this house were particularly comfortable.

Everything was of a very high standard, homely and welcoming. It is sometimes difficult to find such accommodation when you have 2 dogs. The cottage was great for all of us. The beds were extremely comfortable and the location of the property fantastic.

Spacious, beautifully clean accommodation which was well decorated. Area was lovely and holiday booking was smooth and straight forward. Everything was as described and shown on the website. Would definitely recommend to others.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable and beautifully decorated – the Welcome Pack is a lovely touch and contains essentials after a long journey, including treats for the children. It was also good to have parking facilities this time. As with previous holidays with Coquet Cottages, the booking process has been superb and always very friendly and personal – hence the return visits. There were three generations staying in the cottage this time and we were all thoroughly catered for.

Our first time in this part of the country – very pleasantly surprised. Would love to come back in the warmer months to explore more. Spent far too much in the gift shops in Warkworth and enjoyed cakes and tea in Cabosse – very rich but delicious.

First class accommodation, lovely warm house. We’ve all had a super time, especially the children who have made full use of the dressing up box, we’ve had 2 little fairies all week! (and that was dad and grandad!) The Ship Inn at Newton-by-the-Sea is a lovely pub for lunch – super crab sandwiches.

Our first time in this part of the country. We have had a great time but not enough time to explore all the places we would have liked. We will be coming back. This house is great.

Home from home! We had a wonderful time and very sorry to be leaving. The house is beautiful and we loved every part of our stay. Thank you for your hospitality and we will definitely return.

Had such a lovely relaxing time. House 10/10 – cannot fault anything. River walk was lovely – no one about. The chocolate shop in the village, YUM YUM! This is our 4th visit to Northumberland and we will be back. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

We have one huge complaint… and that is that it was not a Bank holiday Monday so we had to leave on the Sunday!!! But, we could not have had a more relaxing and chilled time here at Magdalene House. All your needs are fully catered for, whether it be Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter. It really felt like home.

What a lovely house! And so much attention to detail – the welcome basket was wonderful, the towels lovely and soft, and you know you’ve come to a classy place when there’s a Thesaurus on the bookshelf! Lovely walks everywhere for our little Papillion, and the weather was dry but windy. We will be back! (after we’ve been to weight watchers).

We have had a wonderful stay at Magdalene House. It is a beautiful property and Julie has provided everything what you could wish for to make a holiday enjoyable. The welcome basket was very thoughtful, we had expected to start our holiday by finding shops to buy milk, bread butter etc. and it was a pleasant surprise to find it all there – we went to Alnmouth beach instead!

Magdalene House is a gem and very charming with much character. It had everything we needed and more. The house was excellent in a picture perfect village.

Despite having the most dreadful weather this week, we have had a wonderful stay at Magdalene House. The house is charming, delightfully decorated and lacks absolutely nothing. Thank you for making our Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration with our family so memorable.

Had a great time on our first visit to Northumberland. Lovely house, lovely weather, lovely village ad great dog-friendliness!

This was our first visit to Northumberland and we’ve loved every minute. The people up here are very friendly. Spud, our Jack Russell dog has loved all the walks. We have still got lots of things we want to see and do, so hopefully we’ll be back and definitely stay in this house. Thank you.

Northumberland still never ceases to amaze. Mixed weather but it never stopped us getting out and about. Arthur, our spaniel, has had a wonderful time – he was actually exhausted for a few days.

We have all really enjoyed our stay here in Warkworth – our first time in Northumberland. The house is excellent – the welcome pack was a lovely thought, Holly the dog loved hers and Mum loved the chocolates, and we enjoyed the rest.

Really enjoyed our stay in Warkworth – everyone is so friendly. All the beaches found from Warkworth northwards are beautiful and great for dogs. The house is one of the best we’ve stayed in, thank you!

A very enjoyable week; house ideal and village very impressive. Some lovely walks and finished off with a paddle on the deserted beach! Wonderful.

We have fallen in love with Northumberland and we shall be in touch again in the future. Many thanks for providing such excellent cottages. We had a great time!!

The personal treatment is far far better than anything that the ‘big’ companies can offer. It is marvellous to be able to bring our pets along and still have 5* accommodation. We love the location, we love Warkworth and we definitely love Coquet Cottages.

We liked the excellent standard of accommodation and convenient situation. Warkworth was a delightful village with some outstanding shops and a great beach within easy reach.

We liked the situation – the village of Warkworth – and the proximity of the cottage to the facilities and river. Also, the house has been decorated very tastefully and to a high standard. A very good five star service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to rebook next year.

Everything was perfect, from the ease and professional booking through to the quality and location of the cottage. Warkworth is fantastic village. We couldn’t have asked for more! Everything about our experience has been first class from finding you on the web, through to booking, arriving at the cottage, quality of accommodation and our stay at Magdalene House.

This has been a wonderful week in a wonderful location. The house is immaculate and beautifully presented. Huge thanks to Julie for all the extra thoughtful little touches. Warkworth itself is beautiful. The castle is well worth a visit and the free audio tour is excellent. The beach is wonderful and really tired the dog out. Barter Books is a must-visit, with a roaring fire and cosy armchairs as well as the most extensive collection of books (and dogs are welcome to browse as well) and helpful staff. Bamburgh is well worth a visit, as is Craster and the view from the crags as you walk to Dunstanburgh Castle is breathtaking. All in all a really fantastic holiday, thank you.

A great house and a fantastic base to explore a lovely location. Explored our visit to Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Bamburgh Castle and Beamish was worth the hour drive. Enjoyed eating at The Hermitage and Zecca in Amble, Quayside Chippy in Amble was good to! We also enjoyed swimming at The Granary Leisure complex in Amble. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our week.

Magdalene House has everything needed for an excellent holiday. Decor and welcome pack spot on! Warkworth is a delightful village – walking is great, as is the real warmth of local people. We feel like part of the local community. Many thanks for a relaxing week!

Our 5th visit to Northumberland in 3 years and 4th time at Coquet Cottages. We love it here and it is wonderful to have a luxury house where we can bring our dogs. We knew the house would be fab and it is, no cutting corners, everything is quality – even the dog bags! Warkworth is a special place, it has everything we want – riverside location, by a beautiful beach and castle and nice shops. The riverside walk is beautiful any time of year. Always something different to do each time we come but the best bit is coming back to a lovely home where we can totally relax. Thank you Julie, for all the finishing touches that make your homes special.

Location Location Location! What a beautiful area, fantastic scenery and great views. I showed people some fantastic places and educated them about things and placed they did not know existed. They had never ever seen a heron before. This had been a marvellous break. We will be back.

Lovely stay at Magdalene House, so lucky with the weather – couldn’t be better. Superb location and great beaches. Really appreciated all the little touches – and the doggie basket! Thanks for a lovely stay, will recommend you to all.

A lovely stay at Magdalene House – our fifth stay in as many years. So lucky with the weather which is rubbish back home in the South. New location for us this year was Etal Castle which was lovely.

It was as though the owners of a beautiful home with exceptionally good taste had gone on holiday and had let us stay here for the week! As so many others have said, everything you could ever need for your stay, plus many many extras are included here. All this plus Warkworth (the most beautiful village we came across) has made for a wonderful stay. Highlights have included the beach at Warkworth – so handy – so beautiful – so go! Will mention horse-riding as not many others have, we found it a little hard to find recommendations, but went locally to Shilbottle to Townfoot Stables. The girls really enjoyed themselves – very friendly staff with hats and boots provided. Also on our last day, came across the newly opened Warkworth Farm Shop and Tea Room, located a little out of Warkworth at Acklington – well worth a visit with a fantastic play area outside for children. Culinary highs were dinner at the Treehouse at Alnwick Garden – 2nd time and just as good. Also the fantastic Cabossse in Warkworth for delicious coffee, chocs and treats. Nobody wants to leave this 5 Star home – but I’m sure nobody else ever does too! Thank you – taking lots of your cards as you will come highly recommended.

We’ve had a wonderful two weeks – been everywhere from Durham to Bamburgh. Lovely trip to the Farne Islands to see seals, puffins and baby terns. We even made it to the Warkworth Hermitage this time. Local bottled beers and food at pub fantastic. A great holiday for us all.

We’ve had a wonderful week – weather has been brilliant, scenery amazing and Magdalene House the perfect place to come home to. Warkworth village has been a real find and the proximity to the river perfect for dog walking and my daughter’s favourite pastime – feeding the ducks and swans. The house is beautifully decorated and clearly a lot of thought has gone in to making this a real home from home. We hope to return next year! Thanks.

Wow! What a week ….. Came with a car full of “everything” from previous experience of the lack of facilities we have experienced at other holiday homes. Your home is better equipped than ours!! The weather couldn’t have been better if we had gone to Barbados – nor could the beaches. First experience of Northumberland and very very impressed. Eat at: The Coach Inn at Lesbury – excellent! The Shoreline Cafe at Craster – we liked it so much we went back 3 times! Go to: Beaches, the walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle – Fab!! Farne Islands, Hardy Fishing Museum in Alnwick – great for fishermen and good value shop too, Cragside – a whole day out – really excellent! Thank you Julie – totally exceeded out expectations in every way! We will be recommending you and returning.

What a great week! Good weather, good beaches and a great place to stay. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Warkworth, which has been a great base for exploring Northumberland. We’ve loved Magdalene House, which has been a real home from home and is definitely the best we’ve stayed in and certainly deserves it’s 5 stars. Our daughter has loved the dressing up box and all the toys, going from Barbie to a princess to a pirate to Spiderman all in one day! Apart from the beach at Alnmouth, which is fantastic (especially the car can be parked right next to it) we can recommend the gardens at Alnwick Castle as there is something for everyone. Many thanks for a great week, our experience of Northumberland and Coquet Cottages has been 1st class from the start (booking) to the finish (going home). Thanks again.

What a beautiful house. Thanks for all the extra touches! Even a towel for the dog! Very comfortable beds. Thank you Julie for the phone call to see if we were OK or needed anything. Not enough time to see everything so we will definitely have to come back. The dog loved the local pubs as much as we did and had her Sunday lunch at The Hermitage. Great beach at Alnmouth. We had a lovely last sunny warm afternoon there. Dog very, very tired now so we must go home for her to recuperate. Will definitely come back to this part of the world. Thanks so much.

Lovely house, pleasant stay, definitely 5* accommodation. Thanks for the birthday card, present and cake, will come again.

Many thanks for the loan of your beautiful house. Everything was 5*+ and the very generous welcome pack and all the extra thoughtful touches were very much appreciated. We came to Warkworth with other family members to celebrate special ‘ending in zero’ birthdays and had a great weekend. Thank you, once again, Julie. Everything was perfect!

This has been a wonderful house in a wonderful location. The house is immaculate and beautifully presented. Huge thanks to Julie for all the extra thoughtful little touches. Warkworth is beautiful, The castle is well worth a visit and the free audio tour is excellent. The beach is wonderful, only just over a mile door to sand and it really tired the dogs out. Alnwick Castle definitely a good day out but dogs not allowed in the castle or gardens, although the Market Tavern is very welcoming for dogs and highly recommended. Barter Books is a must visit, with a roaring fire and cosy armchairs as well as the most extensive collection of books (and dogs are welcome to browse as well) and helpful staff. Bamburgh well worth a visit, as is Craster – the view from the crags as you walk to Dunstanburgh Castle is breathtakingly beautiful and the lambs are so sweet right now. All in all a really fantastic holiday, thank you.

Magdalene House – “Wow” what a joy it was to arrive at such a delightful venue. The decor and cleanliness is the best we have seen in self catering accommodation. The welcome pack and all the ‘extra’ little touches were much appreciated. We had a lovely four days and I’m sure we’ll return. Many thanks.

Another lovely holiday in a great Coquet Cottages house. Not had much of a rest as we’ve done plenty of walking and we have a very tired Border Terrier on our hands – loved his runs on Warkworth beach. Thanks again for everything.

We have had a wonderful relaxing time here at Magdalene House. The house has real Wow factor, it’s so nice my son wants to move in! Even the weather has been great. Thank you for all the thoughtful extra touches.

First-Class accommodation!

We have had a lovely time at Magdalene House. It’s beautifully furnished – the Christmas tree and decorations a lovely touch. The snow fell heavily towards the end of our holiday and Julie was very helpful, offering us the opportunity to stay longer if we needed to. Thanks again and Happy New Year 2010.

Julie, you’ve certainly surpassed yourself this Christmas! Well done. What a wonderfully warm welcome we received – from the beautifully decorated Christmas tree – to all the other Christmas touches around the house – to the amazing and very generous welcome pack. The house – as always – was found to be in immaculate order – absolutely spotless. What a perfect Christmas week – snow outside and beautiful and warm inside. PS The Treehouse Restaurant at Alnwick was super on Christmas eve – food, service, ambience – so much so we went again on Boxing Day and that was even better!

Had a lovely relaxing time, house 10/10 – cannot fault anything. We will be back.

First class accommodation, lovely warm house. We’ve all had a super time, especially the children who have made full use of the dressing up box, we’ve had 2 little fairies all week (and that was dad and grandad!).

We have really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house and thank you for the welcome pack. It’s 30 years since we were last in the area but it felt as though we were coming home – Warkworth is a lovely village. I hope it’s not another 30 years before we return!

Imagine if you will, the perfect retreat to get away from it all, imagine no longer, you have arrived! The previous comments say it all and are also really helpful in guiding us for places to eat. Yes, the portions in Topsy Turvey’s are huge, but this seems to be the theme wherever you eat! Our days have consisted of sitting in the garden in the morning and going to a new beach every day, tiring the dogs out and lots of reading. 2nd visit here and I guarantee there will be a 3rd. Have a great holiday.

Wow! What a beautiful place to stay and the welcome pack was great. Well situated for sightseeing and plenty of places to eat. Thanks for making it like home from home, can’t wait to come back!

We all had a great week, it was great having our cousins opposite! (at Waterside). We visited loads of places and castles, including Holy Island which was an amazing place. The house is great, comfortable, clean and homely, it really does deserve those 5 stars!

Thank you Julie for a lovely week in your beautiful house. Once again you have thought of everything. The weather has been very kind to us. We managed to see 4 deer, an owl and a seal with a salmon in its mouth by the river all in 1 hour! Special thanks for the welcome pack and Molly the dog is going home really tired!

Wow! At last a holiday home that really is 5 Star, is as good as it looks on the website (which is fantastic and tells you everything) and best of all, accepts dogs! So many holiday cottages that take dogs are not very clean and are poorly equipped with 2nd hand furniture. This really does feel like a hotel, with the luxury toiletries and fluffy towels and all the little extras that you don’t normally find – thank you. We have had a wonderful week!

Our second visit – again fantastic. Love the attention to detail and special touches. Could quite happily stay in the house and forget about the world, but there are so many wonderful places to visit. Overall, fantastic holiday! Be back again at Christmas and hopefully before then too!

We’ve had a fabulous stay, the house is immaculate and has been a pleasure to stay in, thanks. We have wanted for nothing and will certainly be back!

Thanks for a wonderful weekend. We have all really enjoyed ourselves. Fabulous house, gorgeous decor! We want to know where every piece of furniture has been bought from! Everything we could possibly need or want in this great ‘home from home’. Thanks for being so helpful with booking. We will have to come back again soon!

What a fabulous house! Thank you to Julie for making our stay so comfortable. Had a great time especially on Friday when the Christmas lights were switched on. Everything about the stay was great, from the actual booking to the departure. We will definitely book Magdalene House again and we will highly recommend it to our friends. Thank you.

What a fantastic week! We’ve loved every bit of our holiday – and we’ve been so lucky with the weather. Flying our kites on Warkworth beach was fab and gave us our second childhood (our kids are grown-up). Magdalene House has been a wonderful home for us and Julie has thought of everything. Her eye for detail and flair for design is a credit to her. We’ve been so thrilled, we’ve already booked 2 more holidays here and can’t wait for our next visit.

We’ve had a wonderful week – wish we had booked to stay longer! Thank you very much for everything. It was lovely to meet you both on Tuesday. Hope to book into one of your properties in the future. Thank you again.

WOW! Five-star and then some!! What a wonderful house, less a holiday cottage, more like walking into your home for the whole week. You have thought of absolutely everything and the welcome goodies were lovely (especially the scrummy cake!!) Thank you! Our first visit to Warkworth and we love it. Warkworth House Hotel for Sunday lunch – a bit lacking in atmosphere because it was quiet, but the excellent food made up for that. The Jackdaw was very interesting and peculiar at the same time, but the food was very good. The Coach Inn at Lesbury well worth a visit and The Sanctuary Alnwick Castle is brilliant. Everyone in Northumberland is so friendly and welcoming and we shall definitely be back to Coquet Cottages! Thank you for a fantastic week.

What a fabulous house! Thank you to Julie for making our stay so comfortable. Had a great time, especially on Friday when the Christmas lights were switched on. Everything about the stay was great, from the actual booking to the departure. We will definitely book Magdalene House again and we will highly recommend it to our friends. Thanks again.

Excellent house, the extras and welcome you get make a big difference. Our family stayed for weekend for a great family reunion. The area is beautiful and peaceful. We hope to return soon.

Thank you for an excellent stay – house is 5 *. Here for one week revisiting our old home county. Weather lived up to expectations! Plan to return sometime soon, thanks again.

We have had a lovely stay – and accommodation is just first class! This is our 4th time in Warkworth and we enjoy it every time in this lovely area of England! We would recommend – The Jackdaw in the village – small and unusual but food lovely, Cook and Barker – excellent food, different menu, good wine list, nice atmosphere (Newton on the Moor), Coach Inn, Lesbury, not grand surroundings but Sunday lunch very good value, well cooked food and huge portions! The Farne Islands – if into bird life and or photography, to go this season (June) with lots of activity – just lovely!

Bringing my mum on holiday with us this year. The accommodation was key and had to ‘be right’! Magdalene House completely exceeded her expectations! (And I was No.1 daughter for a week!). So thank you, the house is just superb and we loved Warkworth (normally stay at Embleton). Mum is already talking of coming back here! Also thank you for the recommendation of The Coach Inn at Lesbury – food excellent and John the Landlord was very welcoming. The Warkworth House Hotel was also very welcoming and patient (we had 2 children and and 86 yr old) and food lovely. Good holiday – we love it here!

We have had a really special holiday in this lovely house. You have thought of everything. Our first time to Northumberland and we’ll definitely be back. We had a good meal at the bistro in Warkworth House Hotel. Good food at The Coach Inn in Lesbury. We had a great day at Holy Island and Alnwick Gardens. Great beaches at Alnmouth and Beadnell. Thank you for helping towards a great holiday.

This is our fourth year in Warkworth and we still enjoy it as much as our first visit. We loved the house, it felt just like home. All of the finishing touches were very much appreciated – including the PlayStation (kept the boys amused!) and the cake and birthday present, so thank you very much!! Overall we’ve had a wonderful week and hope to be back in the near future.

Magdalene House has been a good base for our first visit to Northumbria. The village amenities are a pleasant stroll away and our meal at Warkworth House Hotel most enjoyable. We look forward to visiting again and hope we are again blessed with warm sunny weather!

Such a lovely house in a beautiful location. Probably the best self catering we’ve stayed in. The gift shops in Warkworth have been most welcome this close to Christmas! We’ve loved our stay in Northumberland, wonderful scenery and some of the most wonderful beaches – even enjoyable in the icy wind. We will most certainly return to Coquet Cottages and tell all our friends too. Thank you for the wine, biscuits, tea, coffee, etc., not to mention the wonderful fluffy towels!

Thank you for the lovely accommodation. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It has felt like home, thank you for all the added extras. Visited Bamburgh Castle, lovely day out, lovely views. Also went to Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Gardens, brilliant days out, definitely a must-see for both, great for the kids aswell – take a change of clothing and a towel for the kids if they’re not afraid of getting wet in the garden water features. Eating out at Masons Arms most nights as a very welcoming pub with lovely home made food. Topsy Turvey gorgeous, had dinner there – a must do for everyone. Had lovely walks to the beach and a very long walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle. Once again thank you for a great stay, will definitely try to get back next year as much more to see and do.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Our two little girls made themselves instantly at home and the little extra details helped us to feel even more comfortable. We enjoyed a day at Alnwick Gardens and a number of beaches (Alnmouth was definitely the pick of the bunch). Any golfers will find Warkworth golf course a real test and great value. Look out for the herons on the riverbank!

We have so enjoyed staying here and our thanks for everything left to add to a great holiday. Mr Boswell (standard poodle) and Mr Portly (ancient Siamese cat) have also enjoyed themselves! Thanks for the welcome chew bone! We have packed in a lot during our stay, had precious weather – endless skies and hot sun for the most part. Eating out has been varied, The Jackdaw has been top of the list for us, Topsy Turvey possibly second, Amble’s fish and chip shops also good. Warkworth is the most lovely village in every way and such a good place to be based for going to places. Magdalene House is great to return to with all its comforts. It was so nice to meet you Julie, your husband and children and of course your Great Dane – a fantastic creature! We hope to be back PS. on our last night we went to The Coach Inn at Lesbury, it was terrific, excellent food, lovely people and a very fair price.

Magdalene House is a fantastic house to stay in, so warm and comfortable. We have loved our weeks holiday – can’t believe how wonderful the weather has been – great weather for beach walking with our dog, Jessie We have loved our time in Warkworth village, Alnwick and Holy Island. Thank you for the welcome gifts, we feel thoroughly spoilt! We are now considering another visit in February, can’t wait for July. Many thanks Julie, as always.

Second time in Warkworth, had a great time, enjoyed walks on Warkworth beach, sand dunes are great for the dog and children to run up. Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle – great day out. Craster to Dunstanburgh walk. Masons Arms lets you take the dog into the bar area, pub food but very nice. No doubt we will be back again!

We had a wonderful time! We were especially pleased with the Christmas tree! What a great treat and a real home-from-home touch. We all felt thoroughly spoilt and pampered and will certainly be back one day. Warkworth beach is marvellous – a good walk through the dunes. Even the weather was good – not even windy (shame, we brought a kite!). We would really recommend a visit to Alnwick and Craster and visit as many beaches as you can.

Lovely holiday. Magdalene House has been a wonderful place to stay. It had everything we could need and more, in fact we didn’t need to bring as much as we did – it was all here! The area is beautiful and so much to see. We recommend Alnwick Garden Treehouse and the Sanctuary at the Castle for food, both great places to visit. We hope to be back to continue exploring the beautiful Northumberland countryside.

We have had a fabulous family holiday in your amazing house. It has been great staying in such a great house, ‘home from home’ with every comfort thought of. Warkworth is a delightful location and we have enjoyed a week of long beach walks. Weather amazing for Feb. Bright sunny days. I will thoroughly recommend this to our friends – if you are reading this I hope you have as much fun here as we did! Thank you.

Probably the best self catering we’ve experienced and all the better for being able to bring our little dog. The peace and quiet was wonderful, the beds a delight and the generous comforts, home from home. Our week here just flew and we leave with the positives far exceeding any negatives. Well done Julie.

Despite the weather, which to say the least was variable, we have had a wonderful holiday. There is so much to see and do and the house and the people of Northumbria have really made our holiday a memorable experience. Julie has been so helpful and friendly and the babysitters were great and gave us a few evenings out alone. A big thank-you for all the little extras, the welcome pack was appreciated and Kiera ate her doggy treats with gusto. The children loved the toys, bears and the PlayStation was a godsend on many a rainy afternoon. Isabel loved her boudoir, it seems she wants to take the black and white theme back to her own room in London! We hope you enjoy your stay, here are some of the things we enjoyed the most: Cragside – absolute must if you love Victorian Gothic and the labyrinth and kids area is great; Alnwick Gardens and Castle; Bamburgh Castle and the beach are glorious; We love a great beach through Longhoughton called Sugar Sands; Lindisfarne – everything you imagine it to be; Beamish Museum – one of the best we have ever been to; Warkworth Castle is a real fairy tale and great for exploring.

One of the best houses we have stayed in – very well equipped (especially the toys, which the three boys loved). Perfect location for exploring locally and beyond! We loved the beach at Bamburgh and the boys enjoyed the ice cream parlour at Morwick! Had a super meal at the Warkworth House Hotel. We loved walking down to the river in the evenings to watch the herons. Would love to come back again soon to do all the things we missed this time.

The best thing about being here has been the amazing beaches wherever we have visited. Warkworth, Bamburgh, Newton-by-the-Sea and Alnmouth. Evie the dog loved the space, the kids loved the sand dunes and the grown ups seeing them having such fun and getting so tired. Our favourite castle (out of Warkworth, Alnwick and Bamburgh) was Bamburgh, which is where our favourite beach is located. We will certainly be back here soon as there is so much to do and a week simply isn’t enough.

Julie – thank you for your kindness in upgrading us after the floods. This place is fabulous – you’ve obviously got a real flair for design. I felt like taking up squatters rights!! We’ve been lucky with the beautiful weather – walks up to Dunstanburgh Castle and on Bamburgh Beach were the highlights. Thanks – We’ll be back!

Another great weekend in your fantastic accommodation!!! You do really know how to look after us!! Thank you for making our Golden Wedding so special, the cake and chocolates were a lovely touch! Our five year old grandchild loved the games and toys and our visit to Alnwick Gardens Halloween festival was fantastic. All in all a very special weekend!

Fantastic accommodation. Lots of personal touches, very friendly manager (Julie). Great location for days out – can’t believe how many places we got to, including the Metro Centre! So close to the river – Danny’s heaven (although didn’t catch a salmon!) 1 week was not long enough, we are hoping to persuade grandparents to join us up here next Summer. Thank goodness for good old ‘Google’, otherwise we would have missed out on this beautiful part of the world. Who needs to go abroad for a special honeymoon. This place is perfect!!

What an amazing week we’ve had. This cottage could not be any more perfect, really well equipped and all felt immediately at home – especially Max the dog with his own treats and dog friendly pubs to visit! We enjoyed our welcome pack, it was so thoughtful and a lovely touch. We are sad that our week has ended but glad it happened, we hope to come back soon!

A stunning property in this lovely location, with everything you could wish for and things you didn’t know you needed…! The welcome basket was particularly appreciated after a long journey. Although this isn’t our first visit to Northumberland there is still much more to see and we look forward to returning. This was our second visit with Coquet Cottages – the quality of accommodation and attention to detail is just superb – thank you!

This was a first visit for us to Northumberland and we have loved it. Warkworth and the surrounding area has so much to offer – beautiful beaches, great places to eat and very welcoming. The house has been a great base for walks and exploring. It is homely, well equipped and a relaxing place to unwind. Thank you for the welcome treats especially the bread!

What a wonderful week! The dogs have had so many lovely walks on lots of different beaches! The house is perfect with amazing attention to detail. The welcome packs went down very well (especially the lemon drizzle cake) – thank you! We’ve had some delicious meals out and would highly recommend The Warkworth House Hotel and The Old Boathouse in Amble (although you will need to book a table as it gets very busy). Thank you once again.

Fantastic week in Northumberland, in brilliant winter sunshine! Magdalene House is beautifully furnished, comfortable and equipped with everything you might need. We’ve had great walks on Warkworth and Alnmouth beaches and a lovely day out at Alnwick Gardens. Thank you for the use of your lovely house. We hope to come back.

Celebrating Cyril’s birthday! We all enjoyed our holiday in this beautiful house – everything was just perfect from the moment we stepped in through the door. Everything you could think of is provided here. The hamper is a very welcome gift, and the lemon drizzle cake is to die for! The village is quaint and perfect for meals out. We enjoyed trips to Seahouses and Holy Island (just be aware of the tides)!

We have had a lovely weekend staying in your lovely house – thank you for the welcome pack! This is our 4th stay in a Coquet Cottage in Warkworth and each one is lovely in every way. We have done lots of walks along nearby beaches and had a really scrumptious meal in The Red Lion in Alnmouth. We will be back to a Coquet Cottage again sometime next year or later this one. Magdalene House suited us all so well!
