Guest Feedback for Owl Cottage
Our visitors’ book at Owl Cottage is great to read through over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and provide a wealth of recommendations on the best places to eat and visit, as well as some useful tips to benefit other guests. We also send Guest Surveys to all our guests after their holiday and some of their comments are listed here too.
Many guests have listed recommendations for the same lovely places, such as Warkworth Beach, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Barter Books, Holy Island and the Farnes, but for the sake of avoiding repetition in this particular format, we have omitted these recommendations, but they can still be read in full in the visitors’ books in Owl Cottage.
Being provided with Temple Spa products was a real treat. The bed were very comfortable and the views over the river were lovely. I have found all of the Coquet cottages we have stayed in to be very similar high spec accommodation.
This was a lovely stay in Owl Cottage. Coquet Cottages really do ensure that you have everything you need for your stay. There was even some lovely touches such as the welcome basket and the Temple Spa products in the bathrooms. We love Northumberland, and Warkworth is the perfect base to visit so many places, Cragside is one of our favourites. The Taj Mahal in Amble, we would highly recommend it if you like to eat curry. We are looking forward to returning next year.
The welcome basket on the day of arrival was the best we’ve ever had in 30+ years of Self Catering cottages! It was spacious, well equipped, and had excellent crockery and cutlery.
We had another wonderful stay in Owl Cottage it was superb. This is a beautiful house in the most perfect location with everything that we could possibly need. We have stayed in many Coquet Cottages and the standard of cleanliness and quality is second to none. In the current Covid times you have gone above and beyond, to make sure that everything is spot on, which made us feel very safe. Thank you so much.
This has been a wonderful week at Owl Cottage. The house has been absolutely perfect. We enjoyed visits to Warkworth, Dunstanburgh and Alnwick Castle, along with Alnwick Gardens. We visited all the beaches and Druridge Bay Country Park. We had Box Pizza and ate it on the beach for the first night, which was perfect. Considering it was August, ever where felt nice and quiet, which was truly fabulous.
A wonderful week spent in Northumberland coast. This was a beautiful home to base ourselves, which had great access to the river for paddle boarding. Warkworth beach was also perfect for paddle boarding and wasn’t too busy. We enjoyed fish and chips at the Quayside Cafe, Amble and Bertrams in town is a real treat.
A fabulous place to stay with the family to celebrate my big birthday! Beautifully equipped with great views over the river. Good local cafes too, which we would definitely recommend. Many thanks.
Lovely holiday, plenty of Herons in the area. We visited the lovely beaches which were fabulous, and enjoyed feeding the ducks.
This was out sixth consecutive year back in Northumberland, it really is our home away from home, especially this beautiful village of Warkworth. Thank you Owl Cottage for out wonderful stay, the house has been brilliant and I will certainly miss this living room view every day. This Northumberland holiday has certainly been more led by our two year old, with visits to Northumberland Zoo, White House Farm, Carlisle Park and Morwick Ice cream Farm, which are all worth the visit. We also enjoyed great food at out favourites Bertram’s and the Masons Arms. Thankyou for a wonderful Stay!
We had a very comfortable stay in 1st class accommodation. We had everything we needed and would definitely stay again. Exceptional service especially during these difficult times with everything Covid related. It was very nice to receive this lovely welcome pack, loved it all. The kitchen area, the spacious lounge, the most comfortable beds with lovely scented fresh laundry. The lounge area was very spacious and the sofas very comfortable. This was our very first holiday in Northumberland and was a year overdue, but we have to say that you have handled our booking in a most professional way. We have thoroughly enjoyed the countryside, castles and beaches of Northumberland and of course the friendly natives. Looking forward to coming back when the weather is a little warmer. Thank you.
Got here 12 months later than we had planned but was well worth the wait! The cottage is in the ideal village location, and perfect to explore the coast. The weather was very mixed but did not stop us exploring this brilliant part of the country. Bamburgh Castle is breath taking and we had great fish and chips from Seahouses. The walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh is a must and food at The Jolly Fisherman with the sea views is recommended. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for the hamper it went down very well.
It came a year late but we made it back to Owl Cottage! Yey! we are so happy! Peaceful and comfy, everything you could want with beautiful beaches, walks and fresh air. The sun has shone for us most of the week, apart from the dramatic thunder storm when we drove over Alnwick Moor, and on the way back from the ring marked stones at Lordenshaws near Rothbury, and then the sun shone again! We cannot praise Coquet Cottages enough! Warkworth and surrounding area was beautiful and everyone was so friendly. Thanks so much!
A lovely week away from the four walls of the house arrest imploded by COVID 19 over the dark winter. What a wonderful place, huge empty beaches, seals, rock pools, crabs and kayaking down the Coquet which I would highly recommend. Cake and Cappuccino from Bertram’s which we would also recommended, along with fish and chips at The Fish Shack, with a walk down the Quay in Amble which was fresh off the boat. Northumberland really is an undiscovered treasure and I hope it stays that way! It was nice to come back to a cosy bolt hole after a long wind swept, but sunny walk at the beach. Cheers!
Consistently professional and spotlessly clean. The parking and fittings of the property appealed to us when booking

We really liked the fact that all of the produce was local and of a very high standard, the flowers were a very nice touch too. We liked the riverside view and quiet location of Owl Cottage.
We had a wonderful stay at Owl Cottage, sadly our stay was too brief! We liked the contemporary and modern look of this cottage and its location near to the sea and river. We loved the fact that there were the essentials but also some local produce in the welcome basket, it was lovely.

Really well situated property, and we had a great time. This is our 11th visit to Warkworth and 2nd with Coquet. Already considering our 2021 plans. There was off street parking. The pastries were lovely along with the bread, we thanked a member of your team at the phone.

What a beautiful house, everything has been perfect and the hamper was filled with lots of treats for us and also doggie treats for our dog Amber. The views onto the river and Warkworth Castle were spectacular and we enjoyed the dawn chorus from the many species of birds on the river. Thank you for your lovely house and amenities, we look forward to returning to beautiful Northumberland again.

Comfortable seating at the cottage, with good bedrooms and bathrooms. We thought the check in was welcoming, as we were contacted to check we were ok.
We’ve previously stayed in Victoria Cottage and Rebecca House but love the outlook of Owl Cottage over the river. The welcome pack was all lovely but our particular favourites were the festive cob bread, which we then bought at the bakery in Amble. We brought several loaves home and the scones. Our boys also loved the local milk.
Beautiful setting within Warkworth with a lovely view. Our kids loved the biscuits, sweets and chocolate from the welcome basket and the birthday card for my daughter was also a lovely touch.
Fantastic stay in this cottage once again. Love the welcome pack, especially the teddy bears. Thank you so much. Love the river views and the kitchen is a lovely family space. Basics are always nice but great to have a bottle of wine too. Kids loved the teddies. You covered everything.
Beautifully furnished house with a great layout and with everything you could need for a home from home stay. Going over New Year, we thoroughly appreciated the festive decorations. We had a dog with us and the fact we could walk out of the back on to the river bank was just lovely. There were some lovely sunrises and sunsets over the river and a wonderful view of the Castle from the front of the house. Warkworth village certainly does retain a medieval charm and has the best of both worlds, also having an easy walk to the sea via sand dunes. The pubs in the village serve great food too but we were quite contented in our lovely house and with the ample hamper of goodies that Coquet Cottages leave for you. I shall not hesitate to return back very soon. Please note, the pictures of the house do not do it justice.
Beautiful and comfortable place to stay. Kept plenty warm considering time of year. The photos don’t do it justice! Loved where it was situated. Your website is very informative and everyone I spoke to on the phone were more than helpful. It was the best info file I had ever seen in a property – very comprehensive. The hamper was gorgeous and my dog Barney’s Christmas present wrapped up was so cute. Thank you. A variety of goods in the welcome basket and your personalised goods. Having champagne was very nice. The bathroom was lovely, kitchen brilliant, but view from lounge was great and the lounge with Christmas tree and garland was so homely. TV also big enough for everyone to view. THANK YOU for a wonderful time – Owl Cottage was everything we wanted and more!! Our family New Year was superb!
We have had a fantastic stay in Warkworth. This cottage has been perfect for our family – very spacious, lovely patio area over looking the river and with everything you need within the cottage. We really appreciated the fantastic welcome basket – with sweets for the kids too! Northumberland is amazing and we have been to some brilliant places and seen beautiful scenery along the way. We particularly enjoyed the beaches at Warkworth and Alnmouth, and the castles at Alnwick and Dunstanburgh. Cragside was also a great day out with the kids. We will definitely be returning to Northumberland!
A lovely welcoming stay for an excellent Christmas.
What a beautiful cottage, we love Northumberland and so glad to have found this cottage -a real home from home. Everything is spotless and tastefully decorated, and the welcome hamper was amazing. We will certainly be using Coquet Cottages in the future.
Our second visit to Owl Cottage and we loved it just as much as last time. A stunning house in the best location, its so beautiful looking out and watching the wildlife on the river. Had a lovely day on serenity cruises round the Farne Islands and saw many birds including puffins and a massive seal colony. Warkworth is great, we enjoyed afternoon tea at Bertram’s and went to Warkworth show on Saturday. Thank you for our lovely welcome hampers, ours and our little dog Lady’s. Much appreciated.
What an absolutely beautiful cottage this is. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. You seem to have thought of everything. Many thanks – particularly for the welcome hamper and vino. Much appreciated. We have walked the beautiful beaches and revisited some of our favourite places – particularly Howick Hall Gardens and Hauxley Nature Reserve. Bought lots of goodies at Morpeth food and drink festival & the gin samples were delicious. Good pub food at Masons Arms but huge portions. Jasper’s is the jewel in Ambles crown. Though we did explore Newcastle yesterday + excellent lunch at Harry’s bar.
Our family was visiting Europe and the UK for three weeks. We spent the middle week of our trip at Owl Cottage whilst visiting family in the area before heading North. Owl Cottage was an amazing breath of fresh air from the accommodation we stayed in in bigger cities and it was a great place to base ourselves to explore Northern England. We will certainly try to book the cottage for future visits to Warkworth.
We had a fabulous stay here at ‘Owl Cottage’ What a beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Thank you for the welcome pack and flowers, which were much appreciated. We were lucky with the weather so out and about in the day to Warkworth and its magical castle, amble, Alnmouth, Alnwick and the amazing Holy Island of Lindisfarne, plus a visit to old friends in Lowick. In the evenings we were cosy in this very well equipped, spacious cottage. Thank you so much.
Excellent position, overlooking the river yet within minutes from the village centre and the beach. Very comfortable and well equipped. Everything we could have wanted was provided. Had to be dog friendly. The off road parking is always a bonus. We liked the look of the cottage and the modern interior. Views and proximity to everything important to us. Our 3rd stay with Coquet Cottages, but certainly not our last. Warkworth is my favourite place so far and we have already booked Honeybee Cottage for our next visit in March to celebrate our wedding anniversary in style. Lovely to find lights on and everything ready for a welcome cuppa before we unpacked. The Welcome Hamper was full of High quality thoughtful gifts, all of which we have enjoyed over the week. The scones were amazing and the bottle of wine was exactly what I would have chosen for myself, well done. The views and the location were great, on site parking and lovely little sun trap garden. We loved it.
Thank you – another warm welcome at Owl Cottage. Delightful week exploring Northumberland in glorious weather – you just cant beat it! See you again very soon.
Fantastic property. Second time staying will not be the last. The view is amazing from the upstairs window and love the fact that it is still very central to the village and only a short walk to the beach.
Another fantastic visit to Owl Cottage, we stayed at the beginning of the year and this time brought my parents. The weather was warmer than in January but i think it was sunnier earlier in the year. We loved the welcome basket – scones were amazing! The kids and dogs loved the treats. We enjoyed long walks on the beaches and yet another trip to Alnwick & Barter Books. Bertram’s is a must for breakfast or lunch. We will be back.
Excellent accommodation and location. Very clean and spacious, good quality fixtures and fittings. Extremely comfortable stay, you have thought of everything – well equipped kitchen, kids toys and DVDs, fluffy towels and good toiletries. We really appreciate the welcome basket with lots of Northumberland goodies and staples to get you more than started on your holiday. Couldn’t think of anything to improve on.
Warkworth is the jewel of Northumberland and Owl Cottage is the perfect accommodation from which to enjoy it. The house is comfortable, well designed and has beautiful outlooks over the River Coquet. It makes for a great family holiday.
Having just had our second stay at Owl Cottage we loved it just as much as the first time. A beautiful cottage that is so welcoming and well equipped and a great space with everything and more that you could want. A lovely kitchen with French doors to the garden and a gate to the riverbank. Upstairs a large welcoming lounge with comfy sofas and lovely views of the river and Amble in the distance. Gorgeous bedrooms with lovely comfy beds and crisp clean bedding, and 2 bathrooms with fluffy white towels and a downstairs cloakroom too. We stayed with our little dog and on arrival had a lovely welcome basket with some scrumptious goodies that were much appreciated and there was also a welcome basket for our little dog too which was a lovely touch. Warkworth is such a beautiful village and we had a lovely relaxing time.
Excellent accommodation, everything provided, lovely position by the river just below Warkworth Castle. So much to do and see in the area, lovely beach nearby.
As soon as we entered the cottage we were delighted with it. Lamps were on as was the heating making it very welcoming. The amazing amount and variety in the welcome basket was lovely. A very thoughtful surprise.
