Guest Feedback for Puffin Cottage
Our visitors’ book at Puffin Cottage is great to read through over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and provide a wealth of recommendations on the best places to eat and visit, as well as some useful tips to benefit other guests. We also send Guest Surveys to all our guests after their holiday and some of their comments are listed here too.
Many guests have listed recommendations for the same lovely places, such as Warkworth Beach, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Barter Books, Holy Island and the Farnes, but for the sake of avoiding repetition in this particular format, we have omitted these recommendations, but they can still be read in full in the visitors’ books in Puffin Cottage.
What a charming cottage and it is great to be back in this part of the country again. Our dog loves the beaches. We’ve been very comfortable in this beautifully appointed cottage. Thank you for the lovely little thoughtful touches such as the list of vets, the bottle of wine and the doggy venison sausage.
Puffin Cottage is a very comfortable property in a peaceful location. The welcome basket provided a very good range of high quality products! We found the living room spacious and very comfortable.
We arrived to a lovely welcome hamper and there was even items for our dog, which was a thoughtful touch. It is a lovely cottage, well equipped and comfortable. After busy active days in the glorious weather the mega TV was a bonus for watching films together. It was helpful to have a well enclosed garden to keep our dog nice a safe. We enjoyed the coastal walks to Craster/ Dunstanburgh Castle. Holy Island and also to Beadnell and Bamburgh. The Billy Shiel boat trip was rewarding, although there was no Puffins at this time of year, but there was lots of seals and many breeds of birds. We recommend The Spice House Indian Restaurant as well as the cafes in Seahouses. The Smoke House on South street is a hidden gem with delicious seafood and fish. Thank you for giving us a good base for a lovely holiday.
We had a wonderful time at Puffin Cottage, comfortable, well equipped. It was a pleasure to stay there. Both the inside and outside was very clean, tidy and spacious. Well decorated with good sized rooms. We thought it was perfect.
We have had such a wonderful holiday at Puffin Cottage, very comfortable and beautifully equipped. Thank you. We would recommend the Joiners Arms, and The Ship at Newton by the Sea. We enjoyed fresh fish at The Swallows fish Shop in Seahouses.
We had a fantastic week in the cottage, which is so lovely. The hamper was super, thank you for this. We explored Bamburgh, Holy Island, Beadnell Bay, Craster and Seahouses. We recommend Elan Pizza and Spice House. We had a lovely walk into Seahouses. Thank you for letting us stay in your home, we will definitely be back.
We had a lovely week in Puffin Cottage it was well equipped at comfortable. We explored Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, Alnwick Gardens and had Sunday Lunch in the Treehouse. We discovered Heatherslaw and had a ride on the railway, near Etal and Ford which was well worth the trip. We even had a trip to Edinburgh on the train from Alnmouth. This is a great location if you are looking for adventure.</h2
Wonderful, comfortable, hotel-standard accommodation in a beautiful, interesting and peaceful location. It’s rare to stay somewhere with oodles of sofa space, plenty of loos (great in a group of 6!),blissfully comfortable beds, and genuine five-star accommodation with lovely décor. We thought Coquet Cottages had a very accessible and helpful website, the cottage was spacious, close to shops, the beach, and the village without needing to leap in the car to go anywhere. There was a Warm and friendly approach by Coquet Cottages.
Our first holiday in Northumberland and what a wonderful holiday! Fabulous body boarding at Bamburgh and Beadnell beaches. We did day trips to Alnwick Castle and the Alnwick Gardens, which were wonderful. We also visited Warkworth and went up to the Scottish Borders. We also visited Durham. We enjoyed Fish and Chips at Lewis’s and adored our two Billy Shields boat cruises, the first was the sunset cruise, where we saw puffins, seals and many birds. The second was a truly memorable day trip to Holy Island. Thank you so much for the use of the wonderful Puffin Cottage, it was such a comfortable holiday abode, and every detail had been thought of.
A*********** for everything! Service, cleanliness, friendly staff, cottage and the location could not have been better. It was a fairly late booking to facilitate a last minute wedding day change, so choice was fairly limited, however it proved to be just the ticket, spacious, comfortable and was just what we needed. The welcome basket-Wow! If that’s what you get every time! It’s a pretty generous gift! Thank you!
We spent a wonderful two weeks in Puffin Cottage, it proved just right for us all. The location is fabulous, the option of walking in Seahouses or the beach at St Aidan’s bay for magnificent sunsets towards Bamburgh Castle, fun in the sea and on the sand, boat trips and food shopping. We love this region of the country and enjoyed returning to our favourite places and discovering new ones. Some recommendations would be Ford and Etal Castles (Castles, miniature train trips, cafes, Lady Waterford Hall with its pre Raphaelite walls, mill and the craft shops). We also enjoyed the local walk to the harbour, south to the caravan park which was a pleasant stroll. Bertram’s in Warkworth for food/coffee, the castle, river and beach all all lovely. A favourite of ours is Embleton Bay with views of Dunstanburgh from the North.
Had a wonderful week here at Puffin Cottage. The cottage has been beautiful what can I say, other than perfect in everyway! Thank you for the gorgeous fresh flowers, the hamper and such a warm welcome, thank you so much. There really is no better base to enjoy and explore the very beautiful Northumberland. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality. We highly recommend the spice house and Elan Pizzeria, also Longstone House hotel for its timeless, peaceful beer garden and delicious home cooked food.
Excellent service from Coquet Cottages, we booked last minute and was kept fully informed of all requirements. The property was perfect, comfortable and well equipped. We have stayed in many properties in Northumberland and would not hesitate to return to this one.
Fantastic stay at Puffin Cottage after what’s been a very difficult time for everyone. The weather was very kind to us and we enjoyed some lovely walks. The cottage was so comfortable and clean. The welcome basket just gave it that extra special touch and the dogs loved their treats. Thank you again to Coquet Cottages.
Had an amazing time at Puffin Cottage, Village Farm, North Sunderland. We loved staying at this gorgeous cottage and hope to return. It’s very conveniently located for getting into Seahouses and for the beach, yet it’s very peaceful as it’s set off the road, in the lovely Village Farm area. We loved the decor throughout the cottage. It had everything we needed and hope to return.

We had an amazing stay at Puffin Cottage. It was gorgeous with everything we needed. We loved the location as it was very peaceful, yet close enough to walk into Seahouses. The interior looked fantastic on the photos and we hadn’t stayed in the Village Farm area before and we love Seahouses anyway, having stayed there several times. The scones were lovely and my husband enjoyed the bottle of wine!

It is in a great location and we will definitely be returning. Thank you so much for the beautiful welcome basket and the doggy treats!

We have had a great stay at Puffin Cottage. The house is beautiful and we love the decor and colours! We have had lots of walks on the beaches of Bamburgh, Seahouses, Low Newton and Beadnell and we also managed to pre-book a trip to Alnwick Gardens for our 28th Wedding Anniversary. We loved the peace and quiet of this area and would love to return to Puffin Cottage, it is gorgeous!

We arrived at Puffin Cottage tired and hungry so the welcome hamper was an unexpected surprise! The weather was kind so we enjoyed plenty of invigorating walks at Bamburgh and Warkworth Beaches. Thank you for an incredible stay, we are leaving relaxed and rejuvenated.
