Guest Feedback for Saltwater Cottage
Our visitors’ book at Saltwater Cottage is great to read through over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and provide a wealth of recommendations on the best places to eat and visit, as well as some useful tips to benefit other guests. We also send Guest Surveys to all our guests after their holiday and some of their comments are listed here too.
Many guests have listed recommendations for the same lovely places, such as Warkworth Beach, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Barter Books, Holy Island and the Farnes, but for the sake of avoiding repetition in this particular format, we have omitted these recommendations, but they can still be read in full in the visitors’ books in Saltwater Cottage.
Excellent stay. The property was in a great location. The house very clean.
This is a superb base to stay in thank you for Coquet Cottages. We have been been so impressed wit the welcome pack. We have never had a gluten free welcome pack in 12 years. Wonderful beaches. We had coffee on Holy Island. The weather has been cool but was sunny with a little cloud. We have been lucky. The Potted Lobster is a nice place to eat. We will return.
What a welcome with Gluten Free items. This was a great cottage which was clean and sanitised. All the appropriate items were included. We enjoyed our week very much. Thank you.
Lovely cosy cottage in a great location. We loved the open plan layout, patio & garden for our girls (four legged) to explore.
We have loved staying at Saltwater Cottage. This is our first trip to Northumberland in 30 years and we will be back. We loved walking along the beaches and cycling to Lindisfarne. We enjoyed great fish and chips at Lewis’s and enjoyed an Italian meal at Elan. We had a fabulous meal at The Jolly Fisherman in Craster. We loved all the treat in the welcome hamper. Billy Sheils boat trip to Farne Island on a sunny day felt magical. Rob played golf at Alnmouth and loved the course. Thank you for all the extra Covid cleaning.
We’ve enjoyed our stay in Saltwater Cottage, it is lovely and cosy and we have enjoyed the open living space. It was also lovely that we could look at the garden and relax on the patio. We are regulars of Northumberland and have been visiting over ten years now. We had a truly wonderful meal at Longstone House Hotel in North Sunderland (turn left at the front of the cottage, 10 minutes walk and its on your right),the staff and food were amazing. We were also able to take our two dogs. Bamburgh, as always still takes our breath away in any weather. We had glorious weather one day and sea fret the other. Thank you for all our treats and the goodies for the dogs.
We have all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Saltwater Cottage. It is a fantastic place to stay and is ideally situated for exploring Northumberland. The cottage was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed for our visit. The goody hamper was a lovely surprise. Thank you.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Saltwater Cottage. The cottage was warm and comfortable and the arrival basket was an unexpected treat. Thank you.
This is the second time we’ve stayed here and it remains as good as ever.
We loved our stay here in Seahouses. The cottage has been a great base to explore the area, and we really appreciated the treats on our arrival. We’ve had good walks to Beadnell and Bamburgh and enjoyed trips to Alnwick. Holy Island was also lovely. We’ve nominated the pork pies from the butcher in Bamburgh as being the ‘best ever’. We would love to return.
The property and welcome basket was so lovely and welcoming it made us feel at home. The gifts for Charlie our dog were exceptionally kind, especially the toy which we wrapped up for his birthday that we had whilst there. The garden and out door space meant that Charlie could just go out when he wanted.
This is a beautiful comfortable cottage, well equipped, lovely garden. Great welcome hamper and the fresh flowers were a lovely touch. The property was well equipped, and had comfortable furnishings including the bed. The property was very well adapted to feel completely covid safe.
We have had a wonderful stay at Saltwater Cottage. We loved the cottage and thought it was the perfect accommodation for us. It was well equipped and had a beautiful garden. The weather has been perfect despite the bad forecast, warm and sunny. We loved Holy Island, especially the nature reserve, sand dunes, wildlife. Had great trip round the Farne Islands and have been amazed by the birds (Puffins are my favourite) but sadly we didn’t see any dolphins. Bamburgh castle was amazing. We also visited Berwick Upon Tweed which was a wonderful trip. We don’t know this northern park of Northumberland but we will be back to explore some more. Seahouses is also a great spot to explore Northumberland.
What a fantastic stay at Saltwater Cottage, Seahouses. Our first visit to Northumberland but certainly not our last! We loved everyday, Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, Craster and more. Great food at The Potted Lobster in Bamburgh, Sunday lunch at Beadnell Towers (fantastic beach walk there) and The Jolly Fisherman in Craster. Stunning beaches along the coast, which were quite breath taking. Seahouses has something for everyone, a drink at The Ship Inn or fish and chips at the harbour. Saltwater Cottage is a real gem and we felt at home from day one. The hamper is a lovely touch. Thank you.
Beautiful Cosy cottage for a family of four plus our dog. We’ve had the most amazing weekend here and will defiantly be returning! Its our first time in Northumberland and we’ve fallen in love with it. Really enjoyed our walks across the beach to Bamburgh Castle and Beadnell. The restaurants were lovely along with the locals. The hamper and the flowers were also lovely on arrival. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
This was a lovely cosy property. We had great weather when we walked to Bamburgh and back, Seahouses to Beadnell and Low Newton to Craster and back. The Jolly Fisherman’s food was delicious, and the cocktails at Beadnell Towers were great! We also had a fabulous meal at The Whittling in Alnmouth. The lemon and courgette cake at Bertram’s in Warkworth did not disappoint.
Beautiful cottage, very comfortable with top quality furnishings. The garden was very peaceful. It’s always easy to book, I usually phone and all your ladies are lovely and helpful. We would stay again as everything and even the doggy hamper was great. The garden here is lovely with a fabulous aspect.
When we walked in the cottage it was so calm and peaceful. It was really beautifully furnished, very comfortable and the Netflix was great. We have been in a lot of Coquet Cottages properties but this is the best one in our opinion and we would love to stay again. We loved having breakfast in the garden and listening to the birds. We have been to our usual places such as Beadnell Towers, The Jolly Fisherman and loved the walk from Seahouses to Beadnell along the beach. The weather has been very kind to us.
We have had such a fabulous week, we loved Northumberland so much, and enjoyed staying in Salt Water Cottage! The Pantry in Bamburgh dies the most delicious rolls, we recommend the crab and the Northumberland nettle cheese. We also had really good pizzas from the Elan pizzeria at Seahouses (the side salad was great too). We never visit Northumberland without a trip to Holy Island and we had a very good lunch at Pilgrims Cafe. Howick Hall Gardens are fabulous at any time of the year and are well worth the visit. Home tomorrow but cant wait for our next visit!
This was our first break after lock down and we have enjoyed every day of it. The attention to detail from the bedding to the dog bowl surpassed our expectations. Elsie our dog loved the garden and so did we. We ate the scones from the generous welcome hamper and drank coffee in the sun. The customer service was great and will be taking advantage of the returning customer discount when we book our next stay.
Lovely stay which was very relaxing. It was a great cottage with lovely walks and views. We will be back!
We visit Northumberland regularly and this is one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in! I noticed Salt Water Cottage on Instagram. I was pleased dogs were allowed to stay and therefore booked. The cottage was spotless and beautifully clean, with comfy beds, Netflix and the small touches such as the hamper and flowers made for a perfect week. We had meals at The Jolly Fisherman and Beadnell Towers which were great. We loved sitting in the garden and eating breakfast. Thank you so much.
Thank you to the wonderful housekeepers for making the property so clean, lovely and safe. We appreciate your hard work. A lovely please, and lovely stay made possible by you.

We have had a wonderful time at Saltwater cottage in Seahouses. The facilities have been top-notch! We would recommend the beach walk to Bamburgh. We will definitely stay again next time we are in Northumberland. The beds are very comfy and had a great night sleep every night!

We’ve had a lovely time in Saltwater cottage, the weather was lovely, the beaches were great and the local restaurants. We also loved the free Netflix!!

We had a fabulous time here is Saltwater cottage. Perfect location and we’ve made the most of the beaches and the local shopping. We were thrilled to see so many bats in the garden, and enjoyed relaxing in the sun on the patio. We wished we had booked two weeks, as one week isn’t enough to do the area justice!

This is our first opportunity to get away since lockdown eased and what a lovely property and location we chose! The accommodation is warm, welcoming and a great base for exploring the area. We would highly recommend the beach walk to Bamburgh and the castle. Also Beadnell Bay, is a fantastic beach and a throw back in time. Warkworth is also ‘must’ for the beach and river walks. We had takeaway from the Indian Brasserie and the Elan Italian, we would highly recommend both. This is our second visit to this lovely part of the country and we look forward to returning very soon!

A fabulous week in this lovely cottage – revisiting places first visited over 25 years ago. The weather could not have been better and certainly showed this beautiful part of the world to its advantage. Seahouses was certainly a good base for our holiday.
Had a great week for our 27th Wedding Anniversary. Took us a long time to find somewhere where we could store our fold up bikes and the garage was great for this! Lovely decor & very peaceful. The garden is really nice and would like to return in the summer to make more use of it. Packed a lot in with trips to Horwick, Low Newton, Bamburgh, Alnwick & Barter Books. Gorgeous beach at Low Newton. Had some great meals at Pinnacles, Craster Arms in Beadnell and Elan pizzeria here. (Lovely Pizzas!) Also lovely lunch in the Earl Grey Tea Rooms at Howick Hall. We would like to return in Summer.
We have had a great holiday at Saltwater Cottage! It has been incredibly comfortable as a base to visit the local beaches and Bamburgh Castle! Stunning houses, beaches & weather! Thank you for making us feel welcome!
We enjoyed a very comfortable weekend at Saltwater Cottage. The Old School Gallery in Alnmouth is definitely worth a visit, parked at the beach car park and had lunch on the beach in the sunshine.
We have loved our stay here! Beautiful location, superb accommodation. We walked 26 miles yesterday and this was the perfect stay – before and after the hike. Thank you!
Thank you for making this cottage so comfortable and inviting. The welcome hamper was excellent and this cottage feels so warm we would love to come back and use the stove. As ever, the beaches, castles, scenery and wild life lived up to expectations. The butterflies in the garden was an added bonus. Our highlights: Ghost Tour at Chillingham Castle, Sunset Cruise with Billy Shiel, Kite-flying at Dunstanburgh. Seahouses is the perfect stay for a wonderful holiday in Northumberland!
Great stay in Northumberland again. Super accommodation, plenty of room. Couldn’t stay here without doing a Farne Islands trip. Inner Farne trip by Billy Shiels recommended. House was well equipped and the gardens lovely. Another good addition to Coquet cottages.
We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Northumberland. Saltwater Cottage is comfortable, well equipped and in a perfect location. The Pastures Parkrun on a Sunday morning is well worth it! There is a fantastic backdrop to look at whilst running round and breakfast at Barter Books is delicious reward. Thank you – lovely accommodation.
I’ve been many times up this neck of the woods golfing but my partner hadn’t. She’s loved it, the cottage is lovely and we’d live in it 24/7. We would recommend the Italian Restaurant, it was brilliant. We couldn’t have had better weather. Many thanks.
A perfect place to stay in – we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Peaceful back garden and all the facilities were good. Thank you! We were very surprised with the area and the friendly people. Very welcoming- the welcome hamper had all the basics including delicious Scones! Bottles of Alcohol much appreciated and flowers were a lovely gesture.
We have loved our stay at Saltwater Cottage. It has far exceeded our expectations – a fantastic holiday let in a beautiful location! We squeezed a lot into our stay but would certainly recommend Bamburgh Castle and as beach for a fabulous day out. The pizzas at Elan, the small pizzeria in town, were very enjoyable and the staff were friendly and accommodating.
Saltwater Cottage provided a relaxing holiday because it’s comfortable, very well equipped and situated in a convenient location. There is nothing negative to say about it. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.
The location and availability because we left booking a bit late! We booked Saltwater Cottage, even though there were no photos available and it didn’t have a star rating, because Coquet Cottages only offer excellent accommodation.
Everything we needed was there in the cottage so our holiday began as soon as we walked through the door. We liked everything about it! The garage and off road parking are convenient and the patio area and garden are lovely. The TV is great! We were delighted by the toiletries provided and items in the kitchen that can easily be forgotten to bring. The scones were delicious too! Thank you- lovely accommodation.
Walking distance to the beach, the guest information file was by far the best we have ever seen. The welcome baskets local items, as well as the Coquet chocolate was all fabulous to be honest, a great idea to include the local paper too. Very comfortable bed in the main bedroom.

Many thanks for your card and the lovely bubbles which we enjoyed on Saturday evening! It was a really kind thought and much appreciated. In fact we felt very spoilt with everything in the hamper too – Harry particularly enjoyed the Malteasers!
