Guest Feedback for Sunny Cottage
Our visitors’ book at Sunny Cottage is great to read through over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and provide a wealth of recommendations on the best places to eat and visit, as well as some useful tips to benefit other guests. We also send Guest Surveys to all our guests after their holiday and some of their comments are listed here too.
Many guests have listed recommendations for the same lovely places, such as Warkworth Beach, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Barter Books, Holy Island and the Farnes, but for the sake of avoiding repetition in this particular format, we have omitted these recommendations, but they can still be read in full in the visitors’ books in Sunny Cottage.
We have just spent a wonderful Valentines weekend here and have been blessed with wonderful sun, amidst Storm Dennis raging across the UK – unbelievable! This is about our 8th trip with Coquet Cottages, we are gradually working our way through the Warkworth portfolio – this is a particularly comfortable and cosy cottage. Beautiful comfy bed, we made good use of the wood-burner and thoroughly enjoyed the lovely welcome hamper. For anyone new to Warkworth – do yourself a favourite and go to Cabosse for a hot chocolate!! And if you are here with the dogs and are in Alnwick, please visit Barter Books. If you want to shop for tea and cake – go to the lovely cheese shop, off of the market square – a great cheese counter, tables where you can have tea and lovely home made cake and dogs welcome!
Proximity to Warkworth and beach. Very nice cosy cottage tucked away but close to village and beaches. Nice internal living space and good log burner.
Close to the river. Generous ground floor accommodation It presents a standard of accommodation by which we evaluate other cottages by! I loved the champagne, Simon liked the shortbread, and the dogs loved the treats! We froze the scones to take home with us! Just lovely! The snug is great… a fab space away from the TV. Bed is very comfy. We so enjoyed our New Years Holiday; thank you.
We had a lovely week here! We have seen all weather other than snow. Cottage is lovely. The Bedd very comfortable, well appointed and tastefully decorated. A real home from home! This is our second Coquet Cottages experiences. We loved both! CC Staff are lovely and friendly. Thoughtful by letting us know we could get in a little early and a follow up call to make sure we are happy. We will be back here next year! Thank you for the hamper of goodies and the scones were delicious!
Previous experience of CC. We knew the cottage would be cosy, tastefully decorated, everything like new and excellent and thoughtful staff ensuring all was perfect in advance and to check we were happy once ensconced in the cottage. We loved the Welcome Hamper and liked the cosiness, very quiet. We really appreciate the great service. We will be booking the same cottage for the same week next year.
Very comfortable, cosy cottage. Tucked away but easy walk into town, Very well equipped. Perfect size for our stay as two couples, Great location. Good to be able to walk from the house to town and the coast path. The welcome hamper was very good, loved the scones to have with tea when we arrived. We liked the coffee, wine and beer. A lovely surprise.
Beautiful Cottage very centrally placed for everything in Warkworth. Anything we needed to know was right there to hand in the ‘very informative’ guest information file – have to say one of the best we’ve ever had and we’ve stayed in quite a lot of properties. Perfection!! What else is there to say – It just went on and on! The baked goods and lovely flowers too!! Never had so much and we used it all too! There was a little bit of everything – even in the doggy basket. Just fab!! We felt relaxed and at home the minute we walked through the door. Spent a lot of time in the little conservatory area adjoining the lounge – lovely for mornings for breakfast and relaxing of an evening too. Everything was perfect for us. I have to commend you as a company – we had text messages or phone calls at every point of our holiday right up to the very last day. Very thorough and very caring and we felt ‘looked after’ the whole time. You were only a phone call away if needs be. Your properties and attention to detail are second to none even down to the little toiletries provided.
The Henshaw Family, July 2019
We have just returned from a truly relaxing and wonderful week staying at Sunny Cottage in Warkworth. It was our first time booking with Coquet Cottages and certainly won’t be our last. The customer service was exceptional. The cottage was both luxurious and cosy. The decor and furnishings were very special and the finishing touches of the welcome pack and spa toiletries gave it that 5 star touch. Warkworth was beautiful and the location of the cottage was quaint and stunning. We would not hesitate to visit Sunny Cottage again very soon and would highly recommend Coquet Cottages. We miss Sunny Cottage already!
Lynne & Family, July 2019
What a beautiful cottage, the finishing touches were so thoughtful and tasteful. Fabulous welcome pack and spa toiletries and the decoration and furnishings were exceptional. The location of the cottage was equally beautiful, very near the river at picturesque Warkworth. We’ll be back! The customer service from Beth was exceptional. She couldn’t have done more to make our holiday experience fantastic. The personalised biscuits and coffee, the presentation in the basket and cake container. Simply beautiful. We were so impressed with Coquet Cottages and Sunny Cottage. Thank you for a very memorable holiday.
The Curtin Family, July 2019
Lovely cottage, comfortable beds, excellent equipment in the kitchen. Very pleasant and helpful staff on the telephone.
All very well set up, and comfortable, we loved the wine, it was a wine we often drink at home! The goody basket was very generous, and all delicious.
The Bennetts, February 2019
We only had three nights at Sunny Cottage – but oh goodness, what an amazing experience we had. Loved the welcome basket and the gorgeous homemade cakes. The rooms are stunning and the beds are so comfy. Really enjoyed supper at Warkworth House Hotel and The Masons Arms but especially Sunday lunch at The Red Lion in Alnmouth – you MUST book there! Great day at Lindisfarne and i would hugely recommend a visit. We cannot wait to return and thank you so much all at Coquet Cottages – you are superstars. Can’t wait to write a press review soon. Very best wishes, the Byrnes.
First time we have visited Northumberland and we have fallen in love with the area, with Warkworth Village and with Sunny Cottage. A fabulous holiday! Spent a wonderful afternoon at Cragside and Rothbury – what an incredible place. Only found it by chance and we would recommend spending the whole day there. The Masons Arms is a great pub with great food, great beer and friendly staff. The Warkworth House Hotel is slightly more expensive but lovely food and staff. Also do not miss the opportunity to have a delicious lunch at Bertram’s. If you want good quality Fish & Chips we would recommend the Harbour Fish Bar in Amble. The guest information file provided by Coquet Cottages is one of the most comprehensive we have ever seen and well worth reading! If you like books then do not miss Barter Books at the old railway station in Alnwick – a fascinating building in it’s own right. Thank you to everyone at Coquet Cottages for a wonderfully memorable holiday!
This is our 2nd time at this superb cottage. Warkworth is full of charm and the secluded beach is an oasis of calm if you want it all to yourself which is almost unheard of this day and age. If you want value for money and quality food then Barter Books is a must. The village store sells excellent bread and chutneys/preserves honey for any foodie. Thank you so much to the owner for their high standards – it really is a home from home with all the luxuries. Our dog Guinness – black cocker – loves it and especially his treats from the welcome basket! Once again, thank you.
This was our very first time in Northumberland and we had a great stay. The cottage is absolutely lovely and we enjoyed our stay. We had a busy week and have done a number of the local attractions: Alnwick Gardens, Cragside, Bamburgh Castle, Barter Books as well as beautiful beaches. Bamburgh beach was by far the best we’ve visited with shallow, warm waters and golden sand. Food wise, both Fish Shack & The Old Boathouse in Amble were really good with fresh seafood cooked perfectly. Locally we went to The Masons Arms and The Sun Hotel. The butcher in Alnwick has a very good selection of sausages and pies. Our son had a great time and really enjoyed beautiful Northumberland! We will definitely be back. Thank you for such a lovely, well equipped cottage.
This is the first time we have stayed in Warkworth and the first time we have stayed at the Sunny Cottage – and what a lovely holiday we have had!! The cottage was like a ‘home from home’ and very comfortable and well equipped. Thank you for the beautiful hamper that you left for both us and our dog, it was a lovely surprise. Even though it’s November, the weather has been glorious. The beaches and the countryside is stunning as ever. We visited Bamburgh, Seahouses, Craster, Embleton, Alnwick and Low Newton By The Sea in the day, and went out for drinks in Warkworth in the evenings with the rest of our large family (who have also stayed in Coquet Cottages). We recommend La Famiglia Italian restaurant in Amble which does wonderful seafood dishes and pizzas. Thank you for a relaxing and comfortable stay! We will be back next year!
What a beautiful cottage! We have been very comfortable here and wish we could stay longer! Many thanks for the lovely welcome basket and our anniversary card – a lovely touch. Thank you! This was our first time in Northumberland and we will definitely be back. There’s so much to see and Warkworth is lovely – an ideal base! We’ve been to Housteads Fort on Hadrian’s Wall, which was very interesting. Lindisfarne was beautiful and we were blessed with amazing sunny weather – the dunes and beaches there were stunning and the mean distillery was good too! Bamburgh Castle was cold, but well worth the visit. It’s fantastic to have Warkworth Castle and Hermitage right on the doorstep. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle – Stunning! A truly wonderful holiday and cottage, thank you!
This is our second holiday in Northumberland but our first time in Sunny Cottage which is wonderful. It has everything you need. Especially love the kitchen!! We have been to lots of places Alnwick Castle & Gardens – amazing. Alnmouth, Amble, Craster, Barter Books and Alnwick which is worth a visit. Also, has to visit the Alnwick Infirmary to have a dressing changed on my hand which i was worried about at first, but they were the most helpful staff and made me feel at ease. We both love Northumberland and will be back soon.
Sunny Cottage is just absolutely amazing! Very cosy and a lovely welcome basket was provided – it was pure perfection.
First time we have visited Northumberland we have fallen in love with the area, Warkworth Village and Sunny Cottage especially! A fabulous weeks holiday.
Spent a wonderful afternoon at Cragside near Rothbury – what an incredible place. Only went there by change and as a afterthought we would recommend spending the whole day there.
The Masons Arms is a great place with pub grub, great bar and friendly staff. Likewise the Warkworth House Hotel was lovely too. Also don’t miss the opportunity to have a delicious lunch at Bertrams!
If you want good quality fish and chips we would recommend Harbour Fish Bar in Amble. The guest information file provided by Coquet Cottages is one of the most comprehensive we have ever seen and well worth persuing!
If you like books don’t miss Barter Books at the old railway station in ALnwick – a fascinating building in it’s own right.
Thank you to everyone at Coquet Cottages for a wonderfully memorable holiday!
When we initially looked online to find a cottage that suited our needs the location was the most important factor for us, we wanted to be in Warkworth but close to the beach and shops. The photos of Sunny Cottage looked great on the website and it really lived up to our expectation! It’s a beautiful cottage and was immaculate when we arrived. The special touches were so appreciated; White Company toiletries, robes & slippers, the comfortable beds and the welcome basket was so generous we especially liked the fresh bread, scones and flowers. I’m so pleased we found this cottage, and we will be sure to return.
Sunny Cottage is one of the most comfortable and cosy cottages to stay in. Warkworth is our favorite holiday spot and Sunny Cottage is one of it’s most comfortable & cosy cottages to stay in. A roaring log fire added to the comfort during the coldest two weeks of winter yet on sunny days it was lovely to sit in the conservatory or little courtyard garden which is a real suntrap. All the furnishings and kitchen appliances are high quality and the welcome pack includes a homemade cake which always hits the spot! Sunny Cottage really is our “home from home”. Well done Julie, Mark, Stephanie and everyone at Coquet Cottages for your consistently high standards and the great care you take of ourselves as customers. We can’t wait to visit you again later in the year.
Our second stay at Sunny Cottage which was as lovely as we remembered. We really value excellent accommodation which is dog friendly; Oscar and Ruby have really enjoyed snoozing in front of the fire! Sunny Cottage is the perfect home from home. Julie & Mark offer the most welcome respite to those lucky enough to book with Coquet Cottages.
Very comfortable, warm and cosy, very generous Christmas basket of goodies for ourselves and the dog. We enjoyed our stay very much.
We seem to be working our way through Coquet Cottages’ portfolio of cottages! We’ve never been disappointed! Sunny Cottage is no exception – extremely comfortable with excellent accommodation. Unfortunately the weather has been wet, wet, wet! Just as well we had this lovely warm cottage to relax in! We’ll definitely be back. Many thanks Julie and team.
My son and I enjoyed a very relaxing week. There is so much to do! We will have to make regular trips for the foreseeable future. Barter Books is definitely not to be missed. The welcome hamper full of tasty goodies – thank you!
Had a lovely few days chilling before Christmas. We got the weather, beaches, castles; we know Northumberland well but the best surprise was how dog friendly Warkworth is. We found the cottage comfortable, and Minnie(dog) enjoyed her welcome pack.
Yet again a wonderful stay at a Coquet Cottage. Sunny Cottage has become our favourite ‘home from home’! We look forward to coming back next year. Thanks again Julie, Stephanie & The Team.
Had another lovely week in Warkworth – long walks, nice food, good company and a fantastic cottage. Will be visiting again soon.
Felt like we had been here for a while as it was so homely. Thank you, we will definitely be back next year.
Northumberland has been a lovely place to visit – Sunny Cottage so very comfortable, especially the bed. We were so lucky with the weather too. Warkworth has lovely little shops and eating places. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Our 3rd visit to beautiful Warkworth this year and another wonderful week. A beautifully cosy, welcoming cottage with the attention to detail we’ve come to expect from Coquet Cottages. Thanks again for another wonderful Northumbrian break. We’ll be back soon!
Lovely stay. Bertram’s Restaurant in Warkworth is worth a visit (or two).
Our 2nd visit to Sunny Cottage didn’t disappoint. Thank you Julie for a wonderful weeks stay. Your cottage is so beautiful and comfortable! The welcome pack was a lovely thought, especially the wonderful cake! Kids enjoyed exploring Warkworth and the castle, Alnwick and ‘surfing’ the sand on the beach! Hope to come back again!
Came with my sister and husband who have been before and raved about the cottage and Warkworth – they weren’t exaggerating. Loved the cottage, it has a lovely tranquil feeling. The ‘Welcome Pack’ was more like a hamper! Thank you so much for making it so comfortable and welcoming. The cottage was so clean and the beds were so comfortable! Blissful.
We have had a wonderful holiday at Sunny Cottage. It is our first visit to the area and will definitely return next year. We appreciated the welcome pack – tea, scones etc – after the long drive. We enjoyed Barter Books, Alnwick Gardens and Cragside. Fantastic holiday overall but over too quickly.
We’ve had a lovely week here. It’s a great cottage in a lovely village. Try the Fisherman’s Arms at Craster if you like crab or seafood in general.
My new favourite property. We have stayed in Coquet Cottages for quite a few years now and love the village and the area. All the usual touches that we love. Thanks again Julie and Stephanie.
Well back for our 2nd visit to Sunny Cottage – the weather has been absolutely superb. Northumberland really is a hidden gem. We will be back again next year!
So sad to be going home today – we feel so comfortable in this lovely cottage, we could easily stay another week! So much to see and do and all within easy reach of Warkworth, a gem of a village. Everybody we have met is so friendly – we don’t feel like tourists here! Thanks for the welcome hampers and doggy treats, so good to be able to pop the kettle on and enjoy a cup of tea after our long journey up here. I think what we will miss the most is the peace and tranquillity of walking by the river and watching the birds – always something going on! Oh, and the fish and chips in Amble! Hope to be back one day soon!
Wow! What a wonderful holiday we have all had, the cottage is lovely and your welcome pack, with the added touch of two Easter eggs was a wonderful surprise. We have enjoyed everything about this holiday, the beaches, walks and eating out to name a few. Weather has been fantastic and Hobson (the dog) has had a fantastic holiday running on the beaches. Don’t want to go home! However, we will be back – just love everything about Northumberland and the lovely Coquet Cottages. Thank you!
Thank you for a wonderful holiday in Sunny Cottage. We have enjoyed the long walks every day and managed to avoid the worst of the weather, happy in the knowledge we were returning to such a comfortable and welcoming place. Having stayed with Coquet Cottages several times before we knew that it would be 5 star accommodation but once again were delighted with all the little extras that add to the holiday expense – welcome hamper for humans and dogs in particular. Just checking the calendar for another visit!
Lovely cottage in a charming village. The welcome packs were very much appreciated by us both and Martha our Border Terrier. The cottage was spotless and far superior to others we have used. We will come again.
Warkworth & Sunny Cottage have provided us with a fab base to explore the Northumberland coast from. The cottage was welcoming and warm on arrival and has provided a very comfortable base. We have explored the area by car, train, bus, bike and on foot; including travelling to Newcastle to watch a rugby match. We are sad to leave and will return to the area soon.
What a fantastic cottage. We visit Warkworth regularly, but this is our first time in a ‘Coquet Cottage’. Thanks for the great welcome pack and bathrobes AND for having the heating on ready for us. We love the coastal walking and being in such an unspoilt little village. We’ll definitely use Coquet Cottages again, as we really appreciated all the extras – and it was spotless.
We had a lovely stay here and loved exploring Northumbria – so much to see. The cottage was so well kitted out and was the perfect base for exploring, Thanks.
Had a lovely time. The cottage is lovely and thank you for the welcome pack! Had a great day out in Bamburgh. The castle and the beach are both amazing – can’t wait to return. Thank you.
Lovely short break! Our 1st visit to Northumberland, and will not be our last! Beautiful village and staying in a lovely, homely cottage. Lovely special touches – which make you stand out above the rest – thank you.
Thank you for a lovely stay at Sunny Cottage. The cottage is very well equipped but maintains a homely feeling. We have enjoyed some wonderful days out visiting Bamburgh, Edinburgh, Alnmouth, Alnwick and Wooler. The countryside is beautiful and the beaches are spectacular. We have all had a wonderful time. We would fully recommend the Jolly Fisherman pub at Craster and the Hope and Anchor Italian restaurant in Alnmouth.
Enjoyed our stay in Sunny Cottage – very cosy and everything we needed. Lovely walks on the numerous beaches for Dizzy the Jack Russell. Warkworth is a very lovely village dominated by the castle which we explored. Thank you for the very generous ‘goodies’ on our arrival.
Had a fab time in this fantastic cottage. Enjoyed exploring the area – especially Amble, Craster and of course Warkworth. Lots of lovely walks on the beach with our dog Toby. Recommend Spurrelis Ice Cream in Amble and The Jolly Fisherman in Craster. Will have to come back again especially as this visit, Cabosse was closed.
Another fabulous holiday in Warkworth! Thank you for the welcome back, the lemon drizzle cake was divine. We had it for breakfast 3 days running – well we ARE on holiday! The Masons Arms is a super friendly pub and the dog loved it. Thanks again.
We had an awesome time at your beautiful cottage. The children had fun dressing up and we have enjoyed some lovely walks on the beach (our doggy’s first time) and along the river, feeding the ducks. Visited Warkworth Castle, Alnwick Gardens and met some lovely people. Best wishes.
Our 2nd visit to Sunny Cottage, a home from home. The weather has been very kind to us and it has been so lovely and relaxing the whole time we have been here. The “doggy” welcome pack was lovely for our dogs, thank you. We will return to Warkworth to one of your other beautiful cottages. Best wishes.
2nd visit to Sunny Cottage, the first one 4 years ago, and it’s just as lovely as I remembered. We planned a quiet weekend and it was the perfect cottage. Well equipped, comfortable, and the welcome pack was the icing on the cake… literally. Warkworth is a great place to stay. You never have to go far to find a lovely view, interesting shops and amazing beach. Thanks for the use of your wonderful cottage.
What a wonderful surprise at the end of a tiring journey – a delightful, homely cottage with a much appreciated hamper!
What a lovely cottage for the start of our 10 day family holiday. Every time I came downstairs the girls were dressed up in a different costume from the dressing up box! Sad to leave tomorrow, and once again thank you so much for such a lovely cottage – far better equipped than our own home and so much attention to detail!
Weekend away to blow my cobwebs off on a lovely brisk walk! Just what the doc ordered! The cottage is just lovely – the attention to detail is fabulous! Wish we were staying longer. Love this village and all surrounding area.
We have had another wonderful stay in Warkworth, this time at Sunny Cottage. What a beautiful cottage – we felt immediately at home. Your attention to every detail of making your homes inviting, comfortable and relaxing is second to none. We will be back again soon!
Really beautiful cottage, although decorated and furnished to a very high standard, it also felt very comfortable and homely. All of us have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Warkworth – what a lovely, unspoiled part of the country. The beaches are fantastic and Arthur has had the time of his life! Many thanks for the information folder you have put together – it really helped. Can’t wait to come back!
What an amazing place! This is our first time in Northumberland but it won’t be our last. The beaches, the scenery, the history – and even the weather – have been wonderful. The cottage is perfect – beautifully appointed and very well equipped. Every last luxury has been supplied, we have loved it. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home and enabling us to enjoy this most spectacular area.
Thank you for a lovely stay. A gorgeous welcome pack and a beautiful cottage. The dogs loved their doggy treats and the beaches; we loved the landscapes and the Farne Islands. We will be back.
Our first visit to Northumberland & we really enjoyed our stay here. Nice cottage and very well equipped. Very lucky with the dry and sunny weather. The garden’s at Alnwick were very impressive and worth every pound! Also the castle was impressive too! We would also recommend visiting Cragside – Really grand! Thank you.
Our second visit to Warkworth and a Coquet Cottage. Both lived up to our memories – village great and cottage met all expectations. The doggy basket with treats was a lovely touch. Weather was kind to us – spent our days on the beach – particularly liked Alnmouth Beach. Hoping to come back next year, got our eye on Coquet View house! It looks lovely. Julie and Mark were so helpful – especially when we locked ourselves out.
Another great stay in a Coquet Cottage and Sunny Cottage did not disappoint. Lovely, cosy and well decorated – everything you could need. The welcome basket and cake was much appreciated and went down well. Lots of lovely little touches that helped make our break perfect. Warkworth is an excellent base, the beach is gorgeous – miles of golden sand (our dog Haribo loved this), pretty river walks, we enjoyed the local pubs and close to lots of other lovely favourites – Barter Books, Druridge Bay, Alnwick Castle/Gardens to name a few. We will use Coquet Cottages again – keep up the good work.
A lovely 5 days at Sunny Cottage. Had trips out to Holy Island, Alnwick Gardens and Kielder Forest where we saw an Osprey high in the sky. Warkworth beach was as good as ever, lovely quiet sands, it’s interesting to see how the beach changes from year to year. Enjoyed using the wood burner on chilly nights, the cottage met our expectations – high standard of fixtures and fittings as is usual with Coquet Cottages. Fizz enjoyed himself and appreciated all the treats left for him. Thanks again Julie and team!
Sunny Cottage is a real home from home and provided us with all the comforts we could wish for. Thank you for the welcome basket with the Easter theme. The weather has been kind to us – we are all glowing from our beach walks. So much to see and do, we are spoiled for choice but sadly we have run out of time. Hope to be back soon! Until then – best regards.
We stayed here for a short break (first time at Sunny Cottage) and it was the perfect place for us. Cottage had everything we needed. Welcome packs very much appreciated – thank you.We love Northumberland so much and Warkworth makes a great base to see it all. The local pub food was great and very welcome after a long day exploring the castles and gorgeous beaches. A great stay made all the better for having such a beautiful house to come back to. Thank you.
Thank you so much for providing a lovely base for us (Rowan and Magnus) and our boys (Alfie and Edward) plus our Weimaraner Fennel to explore the beaches and castles. We really recommend that families get English Heritage membership as they’ll quickly get their money back and it’s less annoying when the children only want to stay somewhere for 20 minutes. We’re heading off to Hadrian’s Wall tomorrow. Alfie & Eddie say thanks for the sweets!
Thank you for providing us with such a lovely cottage to spend a week. It’s our 2nd trip to Warkworth and Coquet Cottages. We stayed at Lane End cottage in 2008 and we loved it so decided to come back for our first family holiday with our 4th month old daughter and it was an excellent choice – beautiful choice, clean, warm, comfortable and lots of extra touches to make it welcoming and enjoyable. The fresh air also worked for Emily as she treated us to sleep filled nights and 8:30am wake ups! We will be back! Thanks.
We’ve had a lovely holiday. The weather has been great and Warkworth remains a top holiday destination for us. We discovered ‘Hooked’ – an excellent restaurant in Alnmouth. Thanks as ever to Stephanie, Julie and the team.
Thanks for a fabulous holiday. The cottage is warm, comfortable and very well equipped – perfect! The welcome pack was most unexpected. Fantastic weather was a bonus. Good times!
We were looking forward to our holiday very much, returning to a part of the world which we briefly visited last summer. Sunny Cottage has been a dream. The weather has been fantastic considering the time of year too which was an added bonus. We had the anticipated walks on the beach and I can safely say that by day 4 we had succeeded in wearing out our 3 year old Cocker Spaniel. Gorgeous house, the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in on a holiday, delicious cake and a bottle of my favourite wine! Who could ask for more? Thank you for a wonderful week. We are already planning our return visit!
Few days away due to personal issues – it was just what was required to re-charge the batteries. The cottage was cosy and so homely and had absolutely everything that was needed and even more. Like all of the other comments, the welcome pack that included doggy treats was very thoughtful. I even opened the wine (which I normally don’t do). Would I come back to Sunny Cottage again? ABSOLUTELY – I loved it! A big thank you to Julie (who was so lovely) and Coquet Cottages.
Sweet cottage in a lovely quiet location. We liked The Running Fox at Felton – Artisan Bakery, Newsagent and cafe all rolled into one. Warkworth is a gorgeous unspoiled town, we will return. Thank you for the welcome pack and info.
Fab cottage and area. Very comfortable with everything we required provided. Welcome pack was much appreciated and a nice touch. Thankfully the weather was not as bad as it could have been! Kielder Water is worth the drive with lots of good walks. Thank You.
Have had such a lovely time. Weather has been wonderful. Sunny Cottage was exactly as I would expect from Coquet Cottages with everything here that we needed. Many thanks for the welcome pack – a lovely touch as were the flowers. Thank you Coquet Cottages for your care and attention to detail.
Fabulous cosy cottage in beautiful Warkworth. Enjoyed a couple of meals in the Hermitage. Walk on the beach in Bamburgh is a must! Lovely to return to a warm cottage with a lit log burner every night. Will definitely return.
We arrived on a very wet, windy and cold day to be greeted by this lovely, cosy, warm and inviting cottage – our 4th Coquet Cottage – and it certainly has lived up to all the usual high standards! Lovely xmas tree and decorations, fresh flowers and freshly baked lemon drizzle cake to mention just a few – thank you to Julie and her team for making this a memorable and very relaxing Christmas for us! We have enjoyed all of our favourite pastimes such as wandering beside the river in Warkworth, a trip to Alnwick and a walk along the beach (on Christmas day morning!) but what we have enjoyed the most has been the peace and tranquillity of Sunny Cottage and a very relaxing break. We don’t really want to leave today but we know that we will hopefully return soon to this lovely part of Northumberland. Thank you! Best wishes.
Amazing cottage with all you need for a relaxing pre-Christmas break. Had a fantastic time celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in beautiful Northumberland. Thanks for our lovely card and all the goodies you left. Lots of great walks, beaches, pubs and shops. Will be back in the summer!! Thanks again.
Every last detail, from the carefully considered lamps lit for our dark arrival through to the dog biscuits for Oscar, – have been appreciated and all served to enhance the sense that we’d chosen the very best place to stay. Coupled with a ruby red sunset, we really had experienced the platinum package!
Thank you for a relaxing holiday visiting our family in Alnwick and Acklington. Accommodation perfect, nicely situated and very peaceful. We have no hesitation in recommending Sunny Cottage and Coquet Cottages to family and friends.
Arrived at a ridiculously late hour having travelled up from the south west but greeted with light and warmth from the inviting cottage. The cottage is delightful and has literally everything you need – the welcome basket and bath robes were lovely touches. Weather mostly dry and sunny and great for walks on the beach. Easy access to Newcastle to visit family and even took the train to Edinburgh for the day. Love Warkworth, it’s castle and walk along the river. Must find a dog to bring next time!
This is our first trip to Northumberland and it’s always fantastic. Really lovely cottage with a great welcome pack (the cake was fab) and a welcome pack for our retired greyhound molly – was a lovely touch and nice surprise. Fantastic walks on the beach and great food, with plenty of doggy friendly pubs and of course, friendly locals. It was only a short break, but it has flown by. We will be back – thanks again.
Our first visit to Northumberland and I don’t think we could’ve picked a better base to explore from! There is so much to see and do here but our favourites have been Warkworth and Alnmouth beaches. Sunny Cottage is so well equipped and dogs appreciated the welcome pack. The fluffy towels put most hotels to shame! We were blessed with 5 days of glorious sunshine – what more could we ask for? We will be back. P.s The Old Boat House in Amble is the best for food!
Thank you for the lovely welcome packs(especially the doggy one)! Lovely cottage with a very cosy sun room. We’ve been very lucky with the weather but would have enjoyed the dog-friendly beach, pubs, cottage etc in any weather. Everybody should visit Barter Books.
Our 4th visit to Warkworth. Found it very pleasant and comfortable with everything we might need. Very peaceful and in an ideal location. We took the train to Edinburgh on this occasion and would thoroughly recommend it. Booking tickets in advance makes cost very reasonable. Comfortable train and an excellent view of the countryside.
We have had a great time on our first visit to Northumberland. There is so much to see and do, we will have to come again as we couldn’t fit it all in our week. The cottage is very comfortable and relaxing. The welcome basket was a lovely surprise and Sam loved his dog bed and treats! Thanks for a great holiday!
Our 5th visit to Northumberland but our first self-catering – what a joy. A delightfully renovated and equipped cottage in a very special village. So much thought has gone into guests’ comfort. Amble provided all of our shopping needs – a proper high street. We had 2 lovely lunches at the Fishing Boat Inn in Boulmer including a seafood platter to die for and it is right on the beach. We would love to come back as soon as possible.
We’ve had a lovely week with lots of nice walks. Great beaches everywhere but particularly Bamburgh, Alnmouth and of course, Warkworth. Would definitely recommend Taj Mahal in Amble for food, we had a great takeaway from there one evening. Morwick is a must for ice cream too. Thank you Julie and Mark for the welcome pack for us and our doggy. Most appreciated.
A lovely cottage in a lovely secluded corner of a lovely village! We loved visiting some of our favourite places up the coast. Too much to fit it in one weekend, so we’ll just have to come back!
We feel very lucky that we’ve had such a lovely sunny week, enjoyed some fantastic walks along the coastal paths each day. it’s lovely to come back to sunny cottage at the end of the day. We felt relaxed as soon as we arrived. Thank you very much for the welcome basket – What a lovely touch. Warkworth, Alnmouth and Crarter are all beautiful and the tea cosy cafe at Alnmouth do amazing giant tea cakes. We come to Northumbria every year and find it very friendly and welcoming wherever we go. The scenery is breathtaking. We will definitely be back.
This is our second holiday in a Coquet Cottage and we were not disappointed. Some lovely welcome packs that make you smile when you arrive. Cosy, comfortable accommodation. We took lovely long walks across the moorlands and coastline which tired us all out including Pippa, our very boisterous Dalmation. A very special thank you from Pippa for her doggie treats.
Sunny Cottage is a beautifully maintained cottage and fits the bill in every way! We have loved staying here. The location is also perfect for us and there are some lovely easy walks from the door. We have enjoyed sitting watching the river life, having a little relax with morning papers and coffee. We have visited Lindisfarne, and then to Bamburgh for lunch, and a lovely visit to the Grace Darling museum. A visit to Embleton beach is a must and a drink at the Ship Inn overlooking the bay finished off our week nicely. Warkworth village provided everything we could ask for – good pubs and friendly locals. Would have loved Cabosse but they were closed for their holiday – next time! Cragside is amazing and a must. We are looking forward to a longer visit next time, there is so much to explore. Sunny cottage holds a warm welcome and is lovely to return to after a busy day. Thank you for everything. Until next time.
Arrived slightly early and Julie the owner was still here, she is an absolutely lovely person. The welcome pack was fabulous, the best we have ever had and the thought that went into it was really appreciated. Our dogs (Otis and Dylan) have never had a welcome pack before, what an excellent idea. Everything we needed we have found and it has felt like home. The peace and tranquillity has been just what we needed – leave the window open at night and be awakened by the best alarm clock, the dawn chorus. We will be back A.S.A.P. Many Thanks.
What a fantastic cottage. Some beautiful touches including the welcome pack and dog water bowls laid out ready. We had a lovely lunch at the Treehouse in Alnwick – wonderful food, atmosphere and good value. Although booking in advance is recommended. Barter Books is also a must for any reading fan – I’ve visited so many times that I’ve lost count, but there is always a new treasure to find. The dogs loved exploring the beaches and coastal walks. They’ve been worn out by the end of the day. It’s wonderful to find such a high quality, dog friendly place to stay. We will be recommending to everyone and definitely will be back again – probably in the new year once our new arrival is here. Thank you!
We have been very comfortable here and very relaxed! The welcome pack was excellent with lots of unexpected and yummy goodies – thank you! We have had a lovely week exploring local beaches and walking around the river. The local towns are pretty and interesting – obviously Alnwick is well known and good for a variety of shops. We didn’t venture into Alnwick Castle but we went to Howick Hall on a gorgeous sunny day and walked around the gardens for hours – fantastic if you like that sort of thing – which we do! There’s a lovely tea room there too! There is so much to see and do. We will have to come back!
Enjoyed our 2nd stay in Warkworth. It is such a good place to ‘chill out’. Sunny Cottage lived up to its name and the sun has shone. The cottage is lovely and comfortable and the welcome pack was a nice touch. The beaches here are fabulous for walking the dogs but Druridge Bay is stunning. The Black Bull is a great place for a pint and a chat with the locals and the Hermitage serves a wide variety of good food. Don’t think it will be long before we are back.
Once again a delightful cottage made our stay in Warkworth really enjoyable. Many thanks for the goodies and the Christmas feel with all the little knick-knacks. Warkworth beach and all the surrounding beaches always make the holiday wonderful. We have all had a fantastic stay. Many thanks.
What a gorgeous cottage!! We loved everything about it; the cosiness, the wood burning fire, the comfortable beds and the location. Thank you for the lovely welcome pack Julie, the personal touches really make this all the more special. Warkworth itself is a ‘gem’. Thank you to Mark for recommending the cottage to us. You might just need a bulldozer to get us out of here!
Another great week at Sunny Cottage. We have had lovely weather and a lovely relaxing break! Glad we got to visit a bit more this time. The castles are fab! Thank you for the lovely basket of goodies, especially the Lemon Drizzle cake made by Stephanie – I ate most of it! Didn’t want to share it with my husband ha!We have had a lovely time and hope to come back soon.
A beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting. This was our first time staying in one of your cottages, but hopefully the first of many. The welcome baskets were just right and Izzy loved hers – especially the chews! Hope to see you again.
We’ve had a lovely time at Sunny Cottage – all 3 generations of us. My grandson (2 years old) loved the view of the castle from his bedroom. The welcome pack was brilliant and the toiletries lovely. We are so impressed by the attention to detail. We will be back again!
We have very much enjoyed our first visit to Sunny Cottage. It is so refreshing to have 5* accommodation that is also dog-friendly. Thank you so much for the lovely welcome hamper, it was so thoughtful to make one up for Eddie too (our Border Terrier). The beds were so comfortable, just what we needed after being almost blown away on the beach. Thank you!
Lovely cottage and great area. Beaches fantastic – for our 3 year old dog it has been without doubt the best week of her life!
We have thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Northumberland and Sunny Cottage, and like many of the previous comments, we would definitely like to return. Finding a holiday that suits Mum (likes shopping, good food and cleanliness), Dad (reading, wine and castles), and 3 kids under 6 (ice cream, beach, football and generally behaving like Labradors) isn’t easy. But we seem to have hit gold here in Warkworth.
Our 3rd visit to Sunny Cottage, but our first this early in the year, which being high summer, means the weather was OK but not as good as September! Finally made it to Bamburgh beach and Alistair loved it – so much space and so few people. The cottage was a joy – as ever. Our little boy loves it here and he is notoriously difficult to please!! He says he feels at ‘home’ here and loves his little bedroom with castle views.
Another beautiful Coquet Cottage and perfect for our needs. The conservatory was Mum’s favourite place to relax with her puzzle books and the courtyard a lovely area for a rest in between walks. Mum and Dad haven’t been to this area before and loved the quiet and relaxations, along with the scenery and the good food at The Cook and Barker and The Coach Inn. Thanks as always, Julie, for a lovely holiday.
Thank you for all the extra touches you have given us – the dog treats, dressing gowns and slippers and pamper pack. I will be recommending it to all my friends at home.
Thank you! We have all felt so relaxed and comfortable in this wonderful cottage. Welcome pack and SUPERB cake gratefully enjoyed and George (aged 3) very excited with his sweets! Two weeks was not enough to do everything.
Beautiful cottage, obviously finished with love and attention to detail. Humans and dogs going home with a lovely relaxed mind but very tired little legs! The cottage would be the ideal place to heal a broken heart. Very ‘Mills and Boon’! Thank you for all the extras, very much appreciated.
A wonderful relaxing break in a truly beautiful cottage. Thank you for the welcome basket and the dog treats. Back to the real world, but with a very happy and tired Springer Spaniel!
Really enjoyed the peaceful location of Sunny Cottage and loved Warkworth itself. Thanks for a super welcome basket, it went down well after a long drive up here.
The cottage was perfect for our short Birthday break and we found it very welcoming. I found it easy to book on line and the best thing was i could take my dog Peggy.
It’s great to know that when you book with Coquet cottages that there are no nasty surprises, just lovely ones! All the cottages I’ve stayed in have been without exception a home from home. Lovely and clean and with very thoughtful personal touches i.e. the welcome pack is great with even a home made cake (which was delicious) and a honeymoon card, we really couldn’t ask for more and will definitely be back.
The personal nature of the business is really important and you have that spot on. I have only just found you and have already told all my friends. Your website is fab and reflects the quality of the business and properties (I often move away from pages that look cheap etc) and then speaking to Julie it was clear that the business is all about your personal touch. The extras in the cottage were absolutely excellent and we have never had such treatment in other cottages!
I can’t emphasise enough what a lovely time we had and what a wonderful job you’ve done to make the cottage luxurious and comfortable. We felt at home from the word go and it was a real struggle to go home! It really was the best cottage holiday we’ve experienced (and we’ve experienced quite a few!).
It is a home from home, the dogs love it (particularly their beds by the fire in the day and by the radiator at night!). It is so peaceful, I slept a lot as I have quite a stressful job. I love walking out to the beach alongside the river, and I like the fact that it is in a little court of four houses.
Had a lovely stay at the cottage. Loved reading the history of the cottage in the photo album of the renovation. The place was fantastic. We had lots of walks in the fresh air, a great opportunity to get out in the fresh air and relax at night. Not enough time to do everything we wanted and we certainly wasn’t ready to come home when we had to. At least it gives us a reason to come back one day.
Excellently equipped, very comfortable & cosy, wonderful welcome pack and very nice extra touches like the provision of toiletries, detergent, dishwasher tabs etc. Thanks once again for a fantastic holiday in a lovely cottage. We’ll be back.
Loved the little touches like the box of things we might have forgotten, the welcome pack, dressing gown and slippers, flowers, phone accepting incoming calls, good to have the heating on at the end of April/early May and the bed was really comfy.
Having elderly parents with me they loved the conservatory as a place to relax at the end of a busy day or if the weather was changeable. The outside space (courtyard) was also a lovely area to sit. As always the cottage was very comfortable with lovely furnishings and top of the range kitchen equipment. The welcome pack & Julie’s lemon drizzle cake went down a storm & the bathrobes & slippers were a lovely touch.
Seriously, thanks – it was a really great holiday we all enjoyed. I didn’t feel we had enough time to really enjoy the cottage because we were out a lot with the good weather. We would definitely like to return. The welcome pack was very helpful. As the only coffee drinker, it was great to enjoy some filter coffee. We got the kids to agree they could have the sweetie packs on the way home – which made them happy.
Having a luxury cottage which is also dog-friendly is a welcome rarity. Also found the beds to be the most comfortable ever – being able to get a good night’s sleep makes a massive difference to the enjoyment of the holiday. The location was quiet and picturesque, and very convenient for amenities.
The cake your daughter baked was one of the most delicious we have ever tasted. Many thanks.
Just wanted to say thank you for allowing us to bring our two small dogs with us. The fact that we can stay in top quality accommodation without leaving our pets at home is a priority for us.
We would just like to add that from the moment we stepped in to Sunny Cottage our holiday began, it was so welcoming, warm, and comfortable and finished to such high standards that there was nothing we could fault. We would certainly recommend you and most definitely be returning. Thank you for making our stay such a memorable one.
It is so good to have found somewhere to stay that is both high quality and both dog and child friendly. We felt we had a hotel experience but the advantages of being in a cottage. Just what we were looking for. We will be back to try one of your other cottages in a couple of years’ time.
This was our second visit to Sunny Cottage and both have been excellent – we would not hesitate in recommending it to others.
Thanks for providing us with a homely and comfortable base for our holiday. We all felt at home in the cottage and were genuinely sad when the time to leave rolled around. We really would like to return next year.
We went from our lovely holiday cottage to see my sister who was holidaying on the Yorkshire Moors. Their accommodation was so awful and it made us realise how lucky we had been for the last week!
There were so many things you did right that it was difficult to pinpoint a ‘best’ everything in and about your cottage, your welcome, your contact was so wonderful and personal without intruding, none of our party could fault anything. We book so many cottages usually twice a year around the UK and so far Coquet Cottages has topped the lot. It’s without question that we will be returning in the future with our next stay planned for a full week.
It was a magical weekend. Cottage out of this world and fabulous snowy weather, Warkworth was a winter wonderland. Loved the cottage so much we stayed until the bitter end and didn’t even leave ourselves enough time to write in the visitor’s book!
Great castle views. Fantastic welcome pack was much appreciated. Beautiful decor, bedding etc. Great power shower. Lovely big fluffy towels. Wine cooler fab! American style fridge was great. The kids loved the ice dispenser! Sunny Cottage looked and felt like a luxurious home and not a holiday cottage.
Location was excellent. Everything to do with the whole experience was highly professional and didn’t ever think ‘I wish it had….’ Would not hesitate in booking again, in fact first thing we did when we came home was look at the website to see when we can go again. The cottage was like a home, not like some holiday lets where you feel you are using someone’s cast offs.
Just wanted to pass onto Julie and her staff that we really enjoyed our stay in Sunny Cottage (21st May to 28th May) and we couldn’t have arrived at a more perfect time – the hottest day of the year so far. This is our 2nd visit to the region but still found plenty to do and see and the cottage is in a great location for getting about and also with the variety of pubs in the village we didn’t have to go far for a lovely meal but we really did love The Coach Inn in Lesbury in fact we went there twice it was go good so hopefully we might come back one day and stay in one of your lovely cottages again.
We have had a super week in Warkworth. Tim really enjoyed running the Coastal Race from Beadnell to Alnmouth, the rest of us have enjoyed all the coastal walks. Present Time shop in Warkworth great for presents for grandchildren. The new Grace Darling Museum in Bamburgh is well worth a visit. Thanks for a super break.
A great cottage and a wonderful part of the country. From Alnmouth to boat trips to Puffin Island to Bamburgh Castle to Holy Island. There is more than enough to enjoy come what may with the weather. If you like reading you really should visit Barter Books in Alnwick. A lovely holiday.
This was our first visit to Northumberland and we have had a wonderful time. Alnwick Castle and Gardens are great and there is plenty there for younger children, We have also really enjoyed our trips to the beach and our visit to Whitehouse Farm. The cottage has been delightful and a great place to return to at the end of each day. Eleanor has particularly enjoyed all the Disney videos and books. I think we will be buying a copy of ‘Lady and the Tramp’ when we get home! We shall certainly return here, there is so much more for us to see and do. All in all an excellent holiday.
Only 2 weeks this time, but thank you for the wine, cake. etc. Jaspers Coffee Shop and Sandwich Bar in Amble quite a change for Amble, lovely food and pastas. Unfortunately they close at 4pm, a bit early for dinner but ok for lunch. Back in September for 3 weeks at Hotspur Cottage.
We have enjoyed a super week here at Sunny Cottage. The weather has been fairly kind to us and has not stopped us doing any of the things we had planned. The added bonus was coming back each day to the comfort and warmth of the cottage. Just like home from home. We have visited some wonderful castles and Harry has enjoyed flying his kite on wonderful Warkworth Beach. Thank you for the wine, biscuits and flowers, they were very much appreciated and Harry enjoyed his sweets. We will certainly be back again.
An excellent weekend with a great trip to Alnwick to the Gardens and the Tree House is amazing. Best walk was here to Alnmouth and back. In Warkworth, the walk around the river to the old Hermitage is lovely, it’s not open until 1st April, but looks a fun trip in a little boat. At the last moment our puppy went to stay with friends so missed out on the beach – next time! Warkworth is a hidden gem of a place – we will definitely recommend you to friends and family and will come back ourselves.
Just like everyone else who has written in this journal, really happy and impressed with Sunny Cottage and Warkworth. Considering this was the week where storms were hitting the vast majority of the country, we have had sunshine. We’ve had great meals out at Topsy Turvey’s and The Hermitage. Lindisfarne (Holy Island) is a must, the scenery is wonderful, as is all of the coastline. We did park up and attempt to walk to Holy Island but it’s a lot further away than you might think, so unless you have enough time to beat the tide, don’t! Loved Rothbury, The Fishermans Inn at Boulmer. Well we’re going home really chilled. Would I come back to the North East? YES, Would I stay at Coquet Cottages? YES, Will I recommend Coquet Cottages? YES!
The silence was wonderful and the cottage comfortable and well equipped. The weather has been extremely kind to us and we loved the walks on the beach. Great day out at Bamburgh Castle. Very enjoyable break.
Thanks for making our stay in Northumberland so comfortable. We love the house and the village of Warkworth. We based most of our days out on the walks given in the ‘Walks on the Northumberland Coast’ book we found in the cottage – all highly recommended. Thanks again.
We had a lovely time in your beautiful cottage. We really enjoyed the walks on the local beach. We definitely recommend you go to Charlies fish and chip shop. Thank you for the sweets you left for us. My parents were pleased with the cottage greatly, it is a shame that we only had 3 days in your cottage as we would have liked more time. Our dog really loved our morning walks at 7am on the local beach. Thank you.
We have had a wonderful time – so lucky with the weather – it really has been ‘Sunny’ Cottage for us. Patch has loved running on the beach at Embleton, Warkworth, Druridge Bay and Boulmer. Thomas and Martha enjoyed Alnwick Gardens – spending hours in the bamboo maze. Debbie found the birdwatching superb – saw goldeneye, mergansers, wigeon, grey plover – as well as the regulars. We found the cottage to be cosy, welcoming and very well equipped. We have already booked again! Thank you for everything.
Had a great time in your magnificent cottage. Relaxing, castle viewing and beach walking. Warkworth must be the best Northumberland location. Visits to Bamburgh, Seahouses, Embleton, Dunstanburgh, Rothbury and Amble. We will definitely recommend your cottages/houses to all our friends and look forward very much to coming back soon. Kingsize bed was great, enjoyed the DVD’s also. Would also recommend The Hermitage Inn, meal was excellent. Couldn’t get my wife out of The Greenhouse. Most enjoyable midweek break, might bring the golf clubs next time.
We had a super time in a beautiful location. The cottage truly is a credit to you. We found everything we needed and all had a well deserved break. The village was also very welcoming, although the weather wasn’t great, but hopefully we can return in the better weather and take advantage of more of what this idyllic area has to offer. Finally, thank you for the welcome gifts. The champagne was much appreciated as we celebrated our wedding anniversary. Thanks once again.
We had a really enjoyable break. Having been to Warkworth before just for the day, we knew what we were doing by coming back to base ourselves here. Many thanks for the flowers and champagne, which were lovely touches for Lisa’s 40th birthday. We rate the cottage as top notch with the attention to detail being superb. Have left several recommendations. Hoping to return next year.
We came to Warkworth and Sunny Cottage by chance needing a Friday to Friday booking in the area, but we soon discovered we had found something very special. Warkworth is beautiful with interesting shops and nice places to eat. The beach is stunning! We have stayed in many cottages throughout Britain but Sunny Cottage beats them all by far – it is perfect in every way, thank you.
I think you should film people’s reactions as they walk through the door. It would be hilarious to watch everyone looking like goldfish! Thank you ever so much, I don’t want to go home!
Had a fantastic weekend at Sunny Cottage, kids want to come and live here. Will definitely come back next year and do it all again. Thanks Julie and Mark, it was fab.
Back to Cottage
The cottage was so cosy and welcoming. We all felt relaxed there, including our 4 month old who slept better than usual! The company goes above and beyond to provide an excellent service and I can’t wait until we come back!
