Guest Feedback for Waleric House
Our visitors’ book at Waleric House is great to read through over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and provide a wealth of recommendations on the best places to eat and visit, as well as some useful tips to benefit other guests. We also send Guest Surveys to all our guests after their holiday and some of their comments are listed here too.
Many guests have listed recommendations for the same lovely places, such as Warkworth Beach, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Barter Books, Holy Island and the Farnes, but for the sake of avoiding repetition in this particular format, we have omitted these recommendations, but they can still be read in full in the visitors’ books in Waleric House.
What a great place to stay! We have visited the area and few time and have always said we’s stay at Alnmouth. Waleric House was the perfect base for our break with the family. We tried a couple of the recommendation for food and all were superb, along with Scotts for sandwiches and fish and chips from The Hope and Anchor. All in all a lovely break in a lovely area staying in a perfect house.

First time to this area, beautiful accommodation which is well equipped. The beaches round the area are fantastic along with the weather. We ate our evening meals out. The Hope and Anchor was by far the best, food was delicious. The staff were great. Bamburgh castle is well worth the visit and our 90 Year old mother in law loved it.
Finally made it after our March booking fell victim to Lock down. We are frequent visitors to the North East and its been our third visit to Alnmouth. This house is the nicest, its an architectural gem from a family that knows its architecture! The family cyclist spent mornings in The National Park (Rothbury, round Harbottle and Callaly). The rest of us walked on the beach eating cakes and drinking coffee. We had lunch at Scotts and The Old Schoolhouse Gallery who do fantastic lunches by ‘Earth and Sea’.Tuesday-Friday do a half lobster salad which was *****!The Sun Inn has good pub grub and nice beers. We definitely will be back and its booked already!
We have enjoyed staying here as a get together after Christmas. Fantastic location for walks on the beach and Warkworth. Local pubs welcoming despite it being January! Lovely spacious accommodation and made the most of the log burner. The Jolly Fisherman in Craster is a must for Crab sandwiches. Excellent home cooked food in the Red Lion, don’t miss Grey’s in Warkworth – try the shop in the main street for scarves, jewellery and handbags, so reasonably priced. Northumerland and the beaches are a joy in low season. Thank you.
Great place to stay. Well kitted and very beautiful area and easy to get everywhere up and down the coast. We got the train into Newcastle for a couple of evenings too. Our two retrievers enjoyed the heated floor too!
Meals, beautiful morning views and some lovely family memories. All in all, lovely holiday, we can’t wait to return..
We had a wonderful few days in Alnmouth staying in your lovely house, so lucky with the weather. Thank you for the welcome hamper, the flowers were beautiful. We have eaten in, the cooker hasn’t been a problem! We have eaten out, great food at The Red Lion and fish and chips from The Hope and Anchor. Hasta la proxima.
4 adults, 1 child & 3 dogs. Lovely, relaxing week enjoying some gorgeous winter sunshine in this beautiful seaside retreat. The Labrador, Springer Spaniel and Cocker Poo enjoyed daily walks by the sea, as did the humans. Lovely meals at the Joiners Arms in Newton-by-the-sea and Red Lion in Alnmouth. The deli next door is a rare find with lovely cookies and treats. After years of staying in the Bamburgh area we are converted to Alnmouth with its Friendly and welcoming residents.
What an amazing house! We loved staying here. A great welcome pack for both the dog and people. Red lion pub is excellent – very friendly and good food (chips especially) The Hope & Anchor also has really good food. John really enjoyed the walk to the cross and we all enjoyed walking and running on the beach. We will be back!
Great location. We liked the modern and open plan living area and as we travelled as a group of three couples it was great to have a bathroom for each bedroom. We also like an enclosed garden for our dog. We loved the fresh baked goods and the beer and wine was a nice touch. Everything in the hamper was lovely and even the dogs hamper was great. I think we had everything we needed, brilliant hamper. Very comfortable beds and bedding. The living area is wonderful for a group of friends, very sociable, modern but still cosy.
Beautiful cottage, lots of nice useful things. A nice touch.
Another fabulous property. We’ve stayed at Lyndhurst in Foxton, but never in the centre of Alnmouth, so we wanted to truly sample everything in the village. When we saw the quality of Waleric House, the decision was made. Another fantastic holiday, we’ve not had a bad one yet. Keep up the good work and we look forward to our next stay with you guys in May.
Absolutely stunning house in a fantastic village. Thanks so much for the welcome basket which was a great touch. We’ve stayed with Coquet Cottages numerous times and this property is certainly up there with the best. The beach is spectacular, we had the dogs, Rocky and Rambo, down there every morning. all the pubs are great, apart from the Schooner, and offer lovely meals. You don’t need to leave the village, but a little further afield are Warkworth, Amble, Craster, Seahouses and Bamburgh which are all marvelous villages also. All in all we’ve had a brilliant week and couldn’t have picked a better spot to spend New Year.
