Guest Feedback for Waleric House

Our visitors’ book at Waleric House is great to read through over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and provide a wealth of recommendations on the best places to eat and visit, as well as some useful tips to benefit other guests. We also send Guest Surveys to all our guests after their holiday and some of their comments are listed here too.

Many guests have listed recommendations for the same lovely places, such as Warkworth Beach, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Barter Books, Holy Island and the Farnes, but for the sake of avoiding repetition in this particular format, we have omitted these recommendations, but they can still be read in full in the visitors’ books in Waleric House.

What a great place to stay! We have visited the area and few time and have always said we’s stay at Alnmouth. Waleric House was the perfect base for our break with the family. We tried a couple of the recommendation for food and all were superb, along with Scotts for sandwiches and fish and chips from The Hope and Anchor. All in all a lovely break in a lovely area staying in a perfect house.

First time to this area, beautiful accommodation which is well equipped. The beaches round the area are fantastic along with the weather. We ate our evening meals out. The Hope and Anchor was by far the best, food was delicious. The staff were great. Bamburgh castle is well worth the visit and our 90 Year old mother in law loved it.

Finally made it after our March booking fell victim to Lock down. We are frequent visitors to the North East and its been our third visit to Alnmouth. This house is the nicest, its an architectural gem from a family that knows its architecture! The family cyclist spent mornings in The National Park (Rothbury, round Harbottle and Callaly). The rest of us walked on the beach eating cakes and drinking coffee. We had lunch at Scotts and The Old Schoolhouse Gallery who do fantastic lunches by ‘Earth and Sea’.Tuesday-Friday do a half lobster salad which was *****!The Sun Inn has good pub grub and nice beers. We definitely will be back and its booked already!

We have enjoyed staying here as a get together after Christmas. Fantastic location for walks on the beach and Warkworth. Local pubs welcoming despite it being January! Lovely spacious accommodation and made the most of the log burner. The Jolly Fisherman in Craster is a must for Crab sandwiches. Excellent home cooked food in the Red Lion, don’t miss Grey’s in Warkworth – try the shop in the main street for scarves, jewellery and handbags, so reasonably priced. Northumerland and the beaches are a joy in low season. Thank you.

Great place to stay. Well kitted and very beautiful area and easy to get everywhere up and down the coast. We got the train into Newcastle for a couple of evenings too. Our two retrievers enjoyed the heated floor too!

Meals, beautiful morning views and some lovely family memories. All in all, lovely holiday, we can’t wait to return..

We had a wonderful few days in Alnmouth staying in your lovely house, so lucky with the weather. Thank you for the welcome hamper, the flowers were beautiful. We have eaten in, the cooker hasn’t been a problem! We have eaten out, great food at The Red Lion and fish and chips from The Hope and Anchor. Hasta la proxima.

4 adults, 1 child & 3 dogs. Lovely, relaxing week enjoying some gorgeous winter sunshine in this beautiful seaside retreat. The Labrador, Springer Spaniel and Cocker Poo enjoyed daily walks by the sea, as did the humans. Lovely meals at the Joiners Arms in Newton-by-the-sea and Red Lion in Alnmouth. The deli next door is a rare find with lovely cookies and treats. After years of staying in the Bamburgh area we are converted to Alnmouth with its Friendly and welcoming residents.

What an amazing house! We loved staying here. A great welcome pack for both the dog and people. Red lion pub is excellent – very friendly and good food (chips especially) The Hope & Anchor also has really good food. John really enjoyed the walk to the cross and we all enjoyed walking and running on the beach. We will be back!

Great location. We liked the modern and open plan living area and as we travelled as a group of three couples it was great to have a bathroom for each bedroom. We also like an enclosed garden for our dog. We loved the fresh baked goods and the beer and wine was a nice touch. Everything in the hamper was lovely and even the dogs hamper was great. I think we had everything we needed, brilliant hamper. Very comfortable beds and bedding. The living area is wonderful for a group of friends, very sociable, modern but still cosy.

Beautiful cottage, lots of nice useful things. A nice touch.

Another fabulous property. We’ve stayed at Lyndhurst in Foxton, but never in the centre of Alnmouth, so we wanted to truly sample everything in the village. When we saw the quality of Waleric House, the decision was made. Another fantastic holiday, we’ve not had a bad one yet. Keep up the good work and we look forward to our next stay with you guys in May.

Absolutely stunning house in a fantastic village.  Thanks so much for the welcome basket which was a great touch.  We’ve stayed with Coquet Cottages numerous times and this property is certainly up there with the best.  The beach is spectacular, we had the dogs, Rocky and Rambo, down there every morning.  all the pubs are great, apart from the Schooner, and offer lovely meals.  You don’t need to leave the village, but a little further afield are Warkworth, Amble, Craster, Seahouses and Bamburgh which are all marvelous villages also.  All in all we’ve had a brilliant week and couldn’t have picked a better spot to spend New Year.

Really beautiful house in a fantastic location. Every bit as nice as the pictures on the website! Alnmouth beach may have taken over from Warkworth as our favourite…maybe! Thank you for a fantastic holiday home.

Absolutely fantastic stay – beautiful house in a perfect location. Great layout and amenities, have enjoyed three great nights round the table or by the fire after long walks along the gorgeous coastlines (and a couple of pints at the local pub. Thank you for a lovely time!

This is a lovely house in an ideal location – perfect for the beach and The Red Lion! Thank you Joanna for the welcome hamper – Lily the Spaniel enjoyed her biscuit snacks and also the birthday gifts were an unexpected surprise. Off for another breakfast at Bertram’s in Warkworth before our journey home. We love visit this part of the country and will continue to do so. Happy Holidays everyone.

Lovely surprise on arrival – fab welcome pack with a card and bottle of wine for my husbands 50th birthday. Lovely house with everything to hand – great village. The Red Lion by far the best pub. Loads to do and see – shame the weather wasn’t any better – but hey this is Britain!

We enjoyed our first family holiday in Northumberland very much. Can recommend: Walk to Warkworth for Lunch in Bertram’s then getting the bus back. Craigside – Spent a whole day there and it still wasn’t enough. Alnwick Castle and gardens and dinner in the Tree house. 9 Holes on the village links – stunning views from the 7th Tee. Feel we have only scratched the surface of the area so hope to return again.

Lovely House with Everything to hand. Loved the thoughtfulness for our doggy friends too. It is our 4th stay in Northumberland. We have always been so lucky with the weather. A real tonic for my 90 year old mum. Thank you.

Great Design, light and spacious, good location. Generous of all the essentials including some lovely fresh flowers.

Fabulous house with all amenities we needed. The location was perfect and highly recommend The Red Lion. The service from Coquet Cottages was superb. Fantastic welcome basket and a very thoughtful card and gift from Coquet Cottages for my husbands birthday. A massive thanks to you all for your professionalism from the beginning to the end of our stay.

Living space downstairs really worked well for three couples and three dogs. Beautiful interiors. Great garden for the dogs. All of it is amazing and we have already recommended it to some friends. The temple spa products were amazing and a lovely touch. The scones were amazing. Fresh bread. Lovely wine. Thoughtful to leave dog treats. We thought the whole welcome hamper was amazing and beyond any other we have ever experienced. Amazing spacious house. Fantastic location!

Beautiful home & superb welcome hamper, thankyou. Lovely village, loads of places to eat, a big bonus that they’re dog friendly. We had a fab day out in Bamburgh & Craster.

Well what can we say.. wow! This house lived up to every expectation and beyond. Had a look on the website before hand as my friend Susan made the booking. From the minute we walked into the house we loved it, the decor, the furnishings, the bed linen and bathrooms (all 3) The views are tremendous. Your home is amazing. Millie the cocker thought so too! Thankyou

Great house in beautiful location. This is our second visit to this area but this has been the best. We will have to return. Thanks for sharing your great house – Max the dog loved it too.

Wonderful property with everything we needed and more. Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and didn’t want to leave. The fresh scones were a lovely touch and the welcome basket had the essentials we needed.

Another fabulous stay in Northumberland. Loved the house. All in all a wonderful week.

Wow!! What a beautiful house to stay in whilst exploring Northumberland. Beautiful castle, beaches and scenery. The Treehouse Restaurant is a must!! A real experience. recommend going on an evening. Going straight home and booking to stay at Waleric House next year!!

Absolutely stunning property with everything you could ever need. So relaxing to stay here. It was just superb. It was worth going just to see my mother’s face when she walked through into the cottage. The fully enclosed garden was also a great addition as there was no worries what so ever about Chloe getting out.

Very clean, modern and bright. Lovely balcony in the master bedroom with a view of the estuary. Garden was lovely to sit in with a glass of wine. Stunning House. Couldn’t believe how generous the welcome basket was. Wine was very much appreciated as was the local produce of biscuits etc. Scones were beautiful!

A beautiful and comfortable house – well loved! Welcome basket was amazing for us and our dog – very generous and well received. Plenty of space. Beds very comfortable and bathrooms beautiful with lovely welcoming products too! House was immaculate inside and has a lovely garden. Would definitely stay here again so thank you for a wonderful stay.
