Our visitors’ book at Watersedge is great to read through over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and provide a wealth of recommendations on the best places to eat and visit, as well as some useful tips to benefit other guests. We also send Guest Surveys to all our guests after their holiday and some of their comments are listed here too.
Many guests have listed recommendations for the same lovely places, such as Warkworth Beach, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Barter Books, Holy Island and the Farnes, but for the sake of avoiding repetition in this particular format, we have omitted these recommendations, but they can still be read in full in the visitors’ books in Watersedge.
We loved Watersedge and hope to stay again! The position within the village was perfect for visiting our relatives there. We really appreciated the private outdoor space at the back along with the welcome basket including the fresh bread which was delicious!
What a wonderful home to stay in. The house is beautifully presented and equipped. The location was superb. The house was perfect, and thank you for arranging perfect weather too. The location of Warkworth is great for exploring the area. We loved the size of the house and the fact we had dedicated bathrooms for each room. We enjoyed the beautiful living areas. Lovely local products were provided in the welcome basket, which made us seek out other local suppliers. Such high quality!
The fresh scones were a lovely touch. The bread was yummy too. We were really pleased with everything at Watersedge.
This is a well appointed house in a great position. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms is a gem of a find and the proportions do not suffer in any way because of this. Watersedge is a roomy house. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms is a massive plus. The rooms are also well proportioned. Warkworth is also a beautiful unspoilt village with lovely river walks and good beach access. All contact with coquet cottage staff was very well handled and we were well informed about changes in Covid regulations. I enjoyed our holiday immensely.
Beautiful cottage, very tasteful done. Would definitely recommend. Central location to pubs, shops and restaurants. Good base for walks without having to move the car. Having a private bathroom for each couple. Excellent variety and volume of local products. All the basics and more. Loved the home baking. Everything had been thought of. Excellent layout, very well equipped kitchen. Enjoyed the realistic fire, good satellite TV. Package.
As we have come to expect from Coquet Cottages this was an immaculately presented property and ideal for the two couples, one daughter and two dogs!! Great location by the river Coquet and plenty of lovely walks around. Very clean with top quality furnishings, Open plan design and sheer comfort.
Absolutely fantastic house – spotlessly clean, very well equipped and super welcome basket. Ideally situated for beaches, castles and tea shops. The perfect holiday home!
The Weston Family, July 2019
We travelled with family members and stayed in this property over the last weekend. The property is new to the portfolio of Coquet Cottages and at the time of booking there were not even photographs of the property to view. I wasn’t in the least bit concerned about this as I knew their exacting standards would mean we wouldn’t be disappointed. My choice was entirely vindicated as the cottage was perfect and delightful in every way. The location is bucolic. Literally, there is nothing better than stepping out the door and sitting by the river watching the beautiful wildlife. The cottage itself is superbly comfortable, well equipped and very cosy. It worked very well for us as my elderly mother appreciated the fact there was two bedrooms on the ground floor. It worked really well for our dogs too, with wooden floors all round. Coquet cottages are just wonderful and I can’t recommend them highly enough.
We stayed at Waterfall Cottage it was superb in every way. Wonderful welcome pack for us (including flowers) and one for our two dogs. This Cottage was immaculate great parking. Very central for beaches, sightseeing and shopping. Highly recommend this Cottage and Coquet Cottages.
Beautiful, stylish, comfortable, well-equipped, warm and spacious cottage in the charming village of Warkworth (with it’s own imposing and splendid castle at one end). Plenty of space, peace and quiet for our family of 5 and right next to the river (where we saw deer drinking from our window during breakfast). Lovely walks from the door around the village and only 1 minute to the Masons Arms pub with astonishing food. A 15 minute walk to a lovely, empty, sandy beach that stretches for miles in either direction, bounded by enormous sand dunes (and a golf course). An ideal cottage and village to base yourself to explore the stunning Northumbrian coast. Oh, and a tasty welcome basket that was a lovely surprise – the largest scones we’d ever seen :o). Highly recommended.
Just returned from a wonderful mid week visit and were absolutely delighted with the quality of accommodation. Everything about the property was top notch and it was a refreshing change to be able to stay in such a high standard of accommodation AND bring our dogs. Usually dog owners are limited to more basic properties but certainly not in this case.
Watersedge was the perfect location only a minutes walk onto the main street and all its pubs, cafes and shopping but also enjoying the peace and quiet of the river and because the cottage is “upside down” it benefits from stunning views from the upstairs living room which also affords it a better degree of privacy so you get the best of both worlds!
The cottage was beautifully presented throughout and the 2 en suites were a bonus.
The kitchen is extremely well equipped although we ate out during our stay and can heartily recommend Bertram’s, The Masons & Warkworth House Hotel.
The welcome basket was very much appreciated and the scones and Prosecco only lasted a VERY short time after our arrival. A nice touch.
Coquet Cottages were a joy to deal with and will certainly be arranging a return visit hopefully in the not too distant future.
Sixth trip to Warkworth, first time at Watersedge. This beautiful cottage is right on the riverbank, and, although the river view is slightly restricted it’s lovely to look out and watch the river and the sheep on the opposite bank. Watersedge is situated perfectly for walks along the river, but is also only one minute into the village itself. Lots of pubs and cafes in the village and only about a 15 minute walk from the stunning beach. The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable and was spotlessly clean. Two bedrooms on the ground floor and the living area, kitchen and one bedroom upstairs to take advantage of the views. Huge fires which was very welcome on these cold days. Beds and pillows were very comfortable, although the double bed is slightly short for my husband who is very tall! Welcome basket was great, with cheese scones, local beer, bread, jam, butter etc. Plus biscuits for our dog. We had a problem with our fridge while we were there, which was sorted out by the housekeeper Jill, very pleasantly and with the minimum of fuss – many thanks. Thanks also to the owners for allowing us to share their beautiful property and for all the thoughtful extras included, would not hesitate to recommend. Coquet Cottages is always our first port of call when looking to book in Northumberland. All their properties seem to be of the same, very high, standard and we are always confident when we book through them that the property will be fabulous.
Beautiful house in a perfect situation with the views of the river. Lovely to have a welcome basket with local produce provided.
