With its peaceful village setting and convenient location near some of Northumberland’s iconic attractions, this gorgeous country cottage is sure to charm. Amenities are on hand with a village store and local pub within 300 metres, with more choice at Alnmouth (1 mile), home to colourful houses, abundant wildlife and a golden beach. Inland, the market town of Alnwick (3.5 miles) beckons with its world-famous castle and unique poison garden, while the Northumberland Coast Path promises dramatic sea views and a string of imposing castles.

Follow the path through a wildflower garden to the front door of this semi-detached, two-storey cottage. Inside, this property has been lovingly refurbished with bold patterns, modern tones and plush fabrics for a decadent, contemporary feel. A small porch welcomes you in with stairs ahead leading upstairs and the lounge to the right. This room has a sumptuous feel with bold sofas and wallpaper, a Smart TV and DVD, and a wood-burner-effect electric fire. A dining table set beneath a feature light at the rear of the room sets the scene for sociable mealtimes. A door leads into a contemporary kitchen with sleek white cabinets, high-quality appliances, a small breakfast table and patio doors to the garden. Two doors lead to a handy utility room and a ground-floor shower room. Upstairs, two south-facing bedrooms have double beds dressed in crisp linens and feature wallpaper, while a second bathroom adds convenience.

A cottage garden to the front with two chairs among the wildflowers offers a quiet spot to enjoy morning coffee, while a private patio at the rear invites al fresco dining and herbs for cooking. There’s an additional south-facing patio at the end of the drive for lazy summer afternoons and secure storage with beach equipment and a cycle rack. One private parking space is allocated on a shared driveway with additional roadside parking to the front.

Alnmouth train station can be found just 0.9 miles away, where the routes to Newcastle southwards or Edinburgh northwards are very frequent. There are plenty of cycle paths near the cottage too, as well as excellent bus links just yards away.

We had a very comfortable stay at Alnmill Cottage. Ideally situated in the lovely village of Lesbury just over a mile away from Alnmouth and near to Warkworth and Amble it was a great base for visiting our favourite part of Northumberland. We would highly recommend and hope to return in the future.
