Apple Tree Barn is a luxury holiday cottage in Denwick, situated on the outskirts of the peaceful little village of Denwick, just around the corner from the market town of Alnwick. With 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeping 6, private parking, a wood burning stove and large enclosed garden, it’s the ideal place to escape to in any season.

Situated in a peaceful and semi-rural spot, Apple Tree Barn near Alnwick is a luxury holiday cottage with outstanding views and is part of a small collection of converted farm buildings in this pretty countryside steading, yet just 10 minutes easy drive to the coast! The Barn is very spacious for 6 guests and welcomes 1 small-medium size dog. Apple Tree Barn benefits from a beautiful front garden with outreaching views over the rolling fields of the surrounding countryside.

There is 1 designated parking space and additional parking nearby. Pretty walks straight from the doorstep and a well-positioned sun-house means rest and relaxation are easy to achieve here. Free Wifi is provided throughout the cottage.

Apple Tree Barn sleeps up to 6 guests in 3 bedrooms, with 1 family bathroom and an en suite to the main bedroom. Downstairs there is an exceptionally large lounge, dining kitchen and excellent outdoor space. Choose from the south-facing patio with a large table and 6 chairs, or relax in the pretty, lawned garden which faces west with stunning views over the rolling fields.

Apple Tree Barn has parking for 1 car and additional parking nearby. It has free Wi-Fi and can welcome 1 small-medium size dog (no bigger than a Spaniel).



To reach the front door, entrance is at the bottom of the garden, following the pretty country path up to the front door. Once inside the porch, you’ll find a downstairs WC and storage for coats and shoes.



This room is exceptionally big, with seating comfortably for 6 guests across 2 sofas and 1 armchair. A wood-burning stove sits centrally in the room with a huge 55 inch Smart TV – with basic SKY package and Netflix app (no account provided, please use your own). A small supply of wood, kindling and firelighters are provided between October and April. More can be purchased locally.


The dining kitchen is a great, sociable space. With dining seating for 6 on the corner-style sofa chairs, it provides comfortable space to all gather. 2 breakfast bar stools give a more relaxed dining arrangement.

The kitchen contains an electric range-style cooker with 5-ring induction hob, fridge freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and microwave. Barista style coffee machine with milk frother. The large windows look out south and east, bringing plenty of natural light into the room.


Leading from the lounge is an enclosed, sheltered patio which has a table and chairs to seat 6. This is an ideal place to dine as it’s south-facing, so benefits from the sun all day.

Downstairs WC

Just next to the front door is a downstairs WC with basin and towel rail.

First Floor

Main Bedroom with en suite

This incredibly spacious bedroom houses a king size bed, plenty of drawer space, inbuilt-wardrobe and a velvet sofa. A Smart TV with Sky package is wall-mounted and there is a small south-facing barn-style window. Luxury linens and extra fluffy towels provided, as well as a hair dryer.
The en suite contains a shower with a small step up, WC, towel rail and mirror with lighting above the sink.  Complimentary Temple Spa toiletries provided.

Second Bedroom

An equally pretty room with a double-size bed (4ft 6″ wide), chest of drawers and hanging rail. A Smart TV with Sky package included. South-facing window and dressing table area too. Luxury bedding and fluffy towels provided, as well as a hairdryer.

Twin Bedroom

This bedroom houses 2 single beds that cannot be pushed together due to the shape of the room. North-faxing small window and plenty of hooks for clothes. Hair dryer and luxury linens and fluffy towels provided.

Family Bathroom

A large, west-facing window lets light flood into the bathroom, which houses a shower over the bath with just an extended shower attachment, wash basin with storage underneath, and mirror with light above. Complimentary Temple Spa toiletries provided.


The garden is one of the best assets at Apple Tree Barn. The large, west-facing lawned garden is enclosed and looks out to the rolling fields of the countryside beyond. Sitting in the garden is very peaceful, and with the choice of 2 outdoor small sofas or the corner sofa in the garden summerhouse, you can enjoy it rain or shine.


Apple Tree Barn has parking for 1 car at the front, in a car parking area shared with the other residents of the steading. Additional parking may be available but must be requested at time of booking.

Apple Tree Barn sits in a beautiful position to enjoy the best of a rural escape, yet just 3 miles (6 minutes drive) into Alnwick town centre. The coast is equally as easy to reach, with Boulmer beach being just 5 miles away (9 minutes drive), Alnmouth beach 6 miles away (11 minutes drive) or the fishing village of Craster just over 4 miles away (10 minutes drive).

A further couple of miles north is Newton by the Sea with another gorgeous beach and picturesque views of Dunstanburgh Castle in the distance. The pub and restaurants The Joiner’s Arms is a must-visit for lunch or an evening meal, and The Ship Inn at Low Newton is very quirky, with outdoor seating on the beautiful green by the beach, and its own brewery next door.

There are numerous other gorgeous little villages peppered along our beautiful Northumbrian coastline within easy reach of Apple Tree Barn by car along the coastal route such as Craster, Beadnell, Seahouses and Bamburgh.

Historic Alnwick Market Town, where you’ll find quaint cobbled streets, interesting shops, cafes and restaurants and the famous ‘Barter Books’, Alnwick Castle, (used as the setting for Hogwart’s School in the Harry Potter movies) and the world-class Alnwick Garden and magnificent Treehouse Restaurant, can be reached in just 6 minutes by car.

We loved the cottage! It was in a great location with views of the countryside from the garden and summerhouse. It was really well furnished and the kitchen was a real home from home with everything you’d ever need to make a meal. The place was spotlessly clean and there was a real attention to detail. I was particularly impressed by the personal touch at Coquet Cottages. Most booking companies are now remote national concerns with little knowledge of the area or the properties. It was really obvious that this was a local company who actually cared about their customers. We will definitely use Coquet Cottages again!

Tips from a local

For a fun day out for the whole family, take a trip to The Alnwick Garden, just 5 minutes down the road. There’s so much to do, from strolling the poisonous garden to the spectacular cascade fountains.

Stop for a bite to eat in the café, or for something a bit more special, book a table at The Treehouse, where you’ll find a whole choice of tasty dishes to tuck into.

Tips from a local

You’re a 15 minute drive from Alnmouth Beach. Pack a picnic (or pick a picnic box up from The Running Fox on your way), your bucket and spade and a kite and enjoy a traditional day at the seaside.

Afterwards, take a stroll around Alnmouth village and discover the local gift shops, delis and grab a cold drink at The Red Lion.

Every Saturday – and Thursday from April to August – the market square in Alnwick holds a Farmer’s Market. Take a trip to the market to discover a huge choice of artisan local produce.

Going to be cooking in whilst on holiday? Be sure to go to Turnbull’s butchers in the centre of Alnwick or on the new retail park to get what you need.
