Blackberry Cottage sleeps four guests in three bedrooms; a king size, twin single and a single room.

There is one bathroom and a ground floor WC. The lounge has a traditional wood burning stove set within a stone inglenook fireplace, and the kitchen/diner is a cosy room to gather for breakfast or an evening meal. Outside, the south-west facing patio captures the best of the sun, whilst remaining sheltered from winds.

Blackberry Cottage has no designated parking, but public parking is available nearby around 150 yards away with no charges.  One small well-behaved dog is welcome to this country cottage, no bigger than a spaniel. Free Wi-Fi.

The main entrance into Blackberry Cottage is at the rear of the cottage, via the pretty patio. Enter into a rear hallway where you’ll find the cloakroom WC and access straight into the kitchen, down a couple of steps.

The kitchen is styled with a vintage flare, which perfectly suits the character of this old country cottage. Here you’ll find a fridge/freezer, range electric cooker and grill with gas hob, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle and Nespresso machine. The dining table seats up to five and there’s an Amazon Echo Dot.

This lovely room centres around a traditional wood burning stove set within an original stone inglenook fireplace. An initial supply of wood is provided between October and April. Large Smart TV with full access to Netflix, three-seater sofa and two super-comfy armchairs.

Windows are on opposite elevations so you get the sun all through the day. The staircase leads upstairs from the lounge. In the lounge, there is an exit to the main street. However, due to the porch being rather small for the property, access is difficult, so instead this porch area can be used as a useful, safe storage space. The main entrance is via the patio.

Map & Local Area

Blackberry Cottage is positioned in the centre of the village of Longframlington, just a short stroll away from 2 great pubs, an excellent artisan cafe (which does take-out too!) and a quaint village store.

The village of Longframlington is one of many pretty villages that occupy a position on the A697, the main route up to the border of Scotland and Northumberland’s rural community towns and villages. Blackberry Cottage is a 12 minute drive to Northumberland’s best known countryside town, Rothbury. Most famous for it’s beautiful National Trust site, Cragside, just a mile from the town, Rothbury is a charming traditional market town in the very heart of the Coquet Valley.

With an abundance of pubs and restaurants to choose from, as well as gift shops, a great food deli and your everyday essential shops, Rothbury is a beautiful place to explore and there are great walks from your door too. The nearby ‘capital’ town of Alnwick can be reached in less than 25 minutes too, as well as all the coastal villages to the east.

Head over to east and you’ll reach the village of Felton. The home of The Running Fox is in Felton and their sister café in Longframlington itself. The Running Fox is an artisan café and deli which is a must to visit whilst staying so close! The Northumberland Arms in Felton does a mean Sunday roast. Looking for somewhere hearty to dine after a long walk? Try the Angler’s Arms at Weldon Bridge, just 3 minutes drive from Blackberry Cottage.

Walks are in abundance from Blackberry Cottage as you’re in the capital of Northumberland’s walking country. From the Ingram Valley to the Cheviot Hills, you’re certainly spoiled for choice. The coast is easy to reach too; Druridge Bay and Country Park is just 25 minutes drive east. There are no restrictions for dogs on any of our beaches apart from the Little Shore at Amble.

To find out the distance of this cottage from your own home, how long it will take to drive there and other options for alternative transport, click here: Blackberry Cottage on Googlemaps and enter your home postcode. The postcode for Blackberry Cottage is NE65 8DS.

Tips from a local

Less than 15 minutes away from Blackberry Cottage, you will find gorgeous Cragside – and we highly recommend visiting! Cragside was once the home to Lord Armstrong, a key figure in Northumberland, and is still crammed with many of his ingenious gadgets.

As well as the house, you’ll find 3 stunning gardens to explore, with a vast amount of plants creating a dramatic landscape.

Tips from a local

Stop by The Running Fox for a hearty breakfast or lunch. We highly recommend their afternoon tea which offer very generous portions, you may need to take some of it home with you! The Running Fox is often very busy, so we recommend booking in advance to secure your table. They have a café right on the doorstep in Longframlington, as well as Shilbottle, Longhoughton and Felton.

Tips from a local

If you love reading, a visit to Barter Books in Alnwick is a must! Located in a former railway station, it’s known as the biggest second-hand bookshop in the UK and has a massive collection of books, including a lovely children’s department.

The Station Buffet cafe is housed in the original waiting rooms of the station building, and is a lovely spot to enjoy a book and a hot drink in the winter.

Tips from a local

A hidden gem just around 7 minutes from Blackberry Cottage is Linden Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa. Head there to relax and unwind with one of their highly recommened spa days. You can choose from a full or half spa day and enjoy peaceful tranquility in the Northumberland countryside. Why not? You are on holiday after all!

Tips from a local

Dine at the very popular Cook and Barker Inn Pub and Restaurant, very conveniently only around a 10 minute drive from the cottage.  The Cook and Barker has a lovely, welcoming atmosphere and the hearty pub grub is fantastic for a casual lunch in the bar or for finer dining in the restaurant.  It’s incredibly popular with the locals – which is always a good sign!  The pub even has a dog friendly lounge. This isn’t always open, but if you call in advance or pop your head in to let them know you’ll be dining with the dogs with you, they’ll happily make the lounge available for you.
