Cowslip Barn near Warkworth is located on a peaceful, pretty development called Cavil Head on the edge of quaint Acklington Village. Cowslip Barn sleeps five guests and the property is all one level (with the exception of two steps). The well-known Morwick ice cream dairy is an easy walk from Cowslip Barn and the views from the cottage are of the well-manicured fields and woodland beyond, which leads to the ice cream parlour.
Cowslip Barn is less than 10 minutes drive to Warkworth and the same to the fishing town of Amble. This gorgeous cottage in Northumberland has a wood burning stove, an ideal kitchen for entertaining and both an enclosed south-facing patio and a large enclosed lawn garden, perfect for children and dogs to enjoy some chill-out time.

Cowslip Barn is a luxury converted barn on the edges of the pretty and peaceful village of Acklington and between 5-10 minutes drive from Amble-by-the-Sea and Warkworth village. This gorgeous retreat is onground level (with the exception of a handful of steps), sleeps five guests and welcomes 1 dog.
There are 3 bedrooms at Cowslip Barn, 1 has an en suite and also a family bathroom. There is an enclosed patio as well as a large, lawned garden. Private, off-road parking is available outside the entrance to the barn and you can walk to Morwick Ice Cream Parlour.

Entrance into Cowslip Barn is straight into the bright and airy kitchen.
The luxury kitchen with exposed beams has granite worktops and an island for relaxed dining. The kitchen contains an American-style fridge/freezer, wine cooler, range cooker, induction hob, microwave, kettle, dishwasher, ample storage. Washer/dryer, iron and ironing board.
The dining table seats up to six guests.
From the marble floor kitchen you can reach the solid oak lounge (2 steps down) through some oak-framed glass doors. The gorgeous lounge has huge tall ceilings and exposed beams, hinting back to the days as an old barn. The lounge has a wood burning stove, Smart TV with access to Netflix, a sofa and 3 armchairs and French doors out to the garden. The far-reaching woodland views from the lounge are gorgeous, and you can occasionally see the Morwick Dairy cows roaming the fields.
This huge bedroom has two steps up from the hallway, and has a king size bed (5ft wide) wardrobe, dressing table and drawers. Small, wall-mounted Smart TV and French doors out to a south-facing sheltered patio with chairs for 5. Luxury linens and towels provided. Hairdryer.
The en suite has a large walk-in shower, WC, basin, mirrored cabinet and heated towel rail. Complimentary toiletries provided, brand TBC.
This very spacious room has two 4ft-wide beds (large single beds), a wardrobe, drawers and wall-mounted Smart TV. Luxury linens and towels provided. Hairdryer.
This single bedroom has a 4ft-wide single bed, hanging space and shutters across the full width windows. Wall-mounted Smart TV, luxury linens and towels provided. Hairdryer.
The family bathroom is very spacious and contains a large, walk-in shower with rainfall shower head, separate large bath, WC, wash basin, heated towel rail and storage. Complimentary toiletries provided, brand TBC.
The large, lawned garden is north facing, but as the development is not built up, the garden benefits from the sun all day long. There is a table and seating for 5 in the garden and it is enclosed. The fence is a 4ft fence not 6ft. There is a gate at the very bottom of the garden for being able to return from woodland walks.
The driveway has enough parking for 2 cars, but further parking within the development for 2 more cars. We ask that only 1 car is parked in the space in front of the cottage to ensure neighbours can easily reach their parking spots.

Garden & Outside
The lawned, enclosed garden is north-facing but as it isn’t built-up you can catch the sun at any time of day. The patio from the master bedroom is south-facing with furniture and is a suntrap.
There is no BBQ provided at Cowslip Barn but you are welcome to bring your own.

American-style fridge/freezer, electric range oven with induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and cafetiere. Washer/dryer, iron, ironing board, clothes airer and vacuum. Hairdryers, books and plenty of board games. Central heating and underfloor heating is provided throughout as well as the wood burning stove in the lounge (initial supply of logs provided between October and April).

Accommodation on 1 floor and level inside, with the exception of 2 steps going into the master bedroom and 2 steps down to the lounge.
There is private parking for 1 car in front of Cowslip Barn, and additional parking for 2 cars in the private bays within the development, all off-road.
Care of the Property
Our ‘Coquet’ cottages are much-loved privately-owned holiday homes into which our owners have lavished much care and investment to create beautiful places for their guests to enjoy. We therefore require a cautionary Good Housekeeping Deposit to protect our owners’ property, so that if damage/breakages occur or exceptional cleaning over and above the usual changeover clean is required up to the value of the deposit, the owner can be recompensed.

Map & Local Area
Cowslip Barn is situated in an idyllic location between Warkworth, Amble and Felton, on the outskirts of the pretty little village of Acklington. The area is quiet and very flat, so in the summer is a suntrap!
The immediate area is most well-known for the award-winning Morwick ice cream parlour which can be reached in just 10 minutes on foot. You can walk through the fields to reach the parlour in the summer and take the road route in the cooler months.
There’s a pub called the Railway Inn in the village, which is no more than 8-10 minutes away on foot from Cowslip Barn. A small part of the walk (around 300m) isn’t lit and doesn’t have a footpath, but the rest of the village does. It wraps around the old railway located at the end of the village and has a pretty outside beer garden.
The village of Felton can be reached in just 10 minutes, as can the coastal town of Amble and the historic village of Warkworth. Alnwick is just 20 minutes away in the car where you can find the famous Treehouse, Castle and Gardens.
Cowslip Barn is in a fantastic location for being central to lots of gorgeous villages, places of interest and the coast, yet in a very peaceful spot.

Tips from a local
Visit Morwick Ice Cream Parlour. After all, it’s only a stones throw away! In the lighter months you can walk over the fields to the ice cream parlour and in the cooler months you can drive.
They have a play area for younger children at the front and you can see the owners bring the cows in each day. It’s a lovely, family-run parlour where you can get tubs of ice cream to take away too.
Tips from a local
Find some interesting sea-critters in the rock pools at Birling Rocks. Head to the beach and take a left, heading north up the coast. Walk as far as you can and you will reach the rock pools at Birling Rocks. Seals have been spotted on these rocks many times, so you may be lucky! At the south end of the beach there is a pier leads right out with gorgeous views of Coquet Island and the Amble harbour.
Tips from a local
Dine in Amble Fishing Town, just 4 miles from the cottage. The small but lively town has a number of fantastic restaurants with excellent menus. In particular the seafood in Amble is spectacular as it is caught locally so is as fresh as it comes! Your spoiled for choice with The Old Boat House, The Fish Shack, Sea and Soil, Jaspers and Taj Mahal. Just be sure to book as all of the above get pretty busy with locals and holiday makers alike.
Tips from a local
Take a trip to Northumberland County Zoo! Just 15 minutes drive (7.5 miles) from the cottage, this lovely relatively expansive zoo has some lovely animals. It has a cafe, gift shop and lots of fun activities for children.
