The medieval village of Warkworth is just 1.5 miles north – a lovely walk alongside the picturesque Coquet Estuary – and the historic market town of Alnwick is 8 miles north/inland.
As well as having a private hot tub, Driftwood sleeps up to eight guests in four bedrooms spread over two floors. With the main lounge on the first floor and an additional snug area on the ground floor, open plan with the kitchen/ dining area, Driftwood is ideal for families and friends looking for a sociable space to get together but to spread out with their own space too.

Driftwood is located on the Links Road in thriving Amble with views of the sea and Coquet Island. Driftwood in Amble has a private hot tub which is one of the key features of this gorgeous coastal property, aside from the views.
Driftwood sleeps up to 8 guests in 4 bedrooms. There are two en-suite shower rooms, one family bathroom and an additional ground floor WC.
This three storey spacious townhouse has the living space spread across two floors; the kitchen, dining and snug area are on the ground floor, with the main lounge and impressive balcony with sea views on the first floor, making the most of the breath-taking views across the headland and out to sea. ‘The Little Shore’ beach and ‘White House Sands’ are both just a stone’s throw away from the house too, which is great for packing a picnic without a long walk.
The enclosed garden at the rear of the house is very pretty with an artificial grass lawn and a patio area. The garden benefits from a luxury private hot tub, feature outdoor lighting and comfortable outdoor seating.
There is private, off-road parking for two cars on the driveway and more free parking just opposite. Two dogs are very welcome and there is free Wi-Fi as standard.
The driveway is directly outside the front door. Level entry into the welcoming, inner hallway where coats and shoes can be stored. The hallway also contains a utility cupboard with washing machine and tumble dryer.
This bright, west facing room looks out to the garden and has French doors leading onto the patio. The kitchen contains a fridge/freezer, electric fan oven, gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, 4-slice toaster, Nespresso machine (with initial supply of pods provided) and benefits from underfloor heating.
The stylish breakfast bar offers additional seating for three, and the dining table seats up to eight, and leads to the snug room.
Downstairs Lounge/ Snug Room
The downstairs lounge window faces out to the front of Driftwood and on to the east-coast headland. The lounge is open plan to the kitchen and features two comfortable sofas – one three-seater and a two-seater. Smart TV with Sky Sports (through Now TV), Disney+ and full access to Netflix provided for guest use. The snug is ideal for family use, with a PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii and a cupboard full of board games and playing cards. Over 25 games are also provided for the PlayStation 3.
The cloakroom WC contains a wash basin, mirror and toilet.
On the first floor you will find the main lounge, bedrooms three and four and the family bathroom.
This bright and airy lounge is arguably the most impressive room in the house. With large bi-folding doors opening out to a balcony the full width of the room, this is the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee whilst watching the sunrise over the sea. The balcony is furnished with a bistro-style table and seating for two. The lounge has a large corner sofa, a two-seater sofa and a Smart Frame TV with full access to Netflix. Sky Sports via Now TV and Disney+.
This lovely bedroom has a double bed (4ft 6″ wide), wall-mounted hanging rail with hangers provided, chest of drawers with a mirror and lamp and ambient bedside lighting. Luxury linen, towels, slippers and hairdryer provided.
The twin single bedroom containing two full size single beds (3ft wide), wall-mounted hanging rail with coat hangers provided, drawers with a mirror above and a west-facing view out on to the back garden. Linen, towels, slippers and a hair dyer provided.
The family bathroom contains a shower over the bath, WC, wash basin, illuminated mirror with demister pad and shaving socket above and a heated towel rail. Complimentary luxury Duck Island toiletries are provided.
The second floor contains the last two bedrooms, both with luxurious en-suite shower rooms.
The main bedroom of Driftwood has a king size bed (5ft wide), gorgeous sea views from the east-facing window, a walk-in wardrobe with a dressing table and ample storage space. Luxury bed linen, towels, slippers and hairdryer provided.
The en-suite shower room contains a spacious shower with a small step up to the shower tray. There is a rainfall shower head and additional attachment, WC, basin, illuminated anti-mist mirror with shaving socket and a heated towel rail. Complimentary luxury Duck Island toiletries provided.
This spacious bedroom also has a king size bed (5ft wide), large built in wardrobe, dressing table and west-facing views out to the back garden. Luxury linen, towels, slippers and hair dryer provided.
The en-suite shower room contains a large shower with rainfall shower head, additional attachment and a small step up to the shower tray, WC, hand basin with illuminated mirror with demister pad and shaver point above and heated towel rail. Complimentary luxury Duck Island toiletries provided.
Garden and Balcony
The enclosed west-facing garden is very pretty and neat, with an artificial grass lawn and a patio area with outdoor sofas provided. The garden benefits from a luxurious, private hot tub with feature outdoor lighting above. (Supervision of children is required at all times).
The east-facing balcony from the first floor lounge looks over the dunes and out to sea – perfect for watching the sunrise completely uninterrupted. Bistro table and seating for two is provided.
Driftwood has parking for two cars on the private drive directly in front of the house. Parking on the roadside is available for additional cars, or alternatively there is a free public car park just opposite the house over the road by the headland.

Stunning views across the headland and out to sea make Driftwood a beautiful coastal escape. The bi-fold doors in the upstairs lounge give a unique experience when opened, bringing the outdoors, indoors.

The enclosed west-facing garden has an artificial grass lawn and a patio area with outdoor sofa and comfortable seating for 8. Private outdoor hot tub with feature lighting above. (Supervision of children is required at all times of course). The first floor balcony looks over the dunes and out to sea and has a bistro table and seating for two.
There is a BBQ provided in the garden – for use on the patio area only.

Care of the Property
Our ‘Coquet’ cottages are much-loved privately-owned holiday homes into which our owners have lavished much care and investment to create beautiful places for their guests to enjoy. We therefore require a cautionary Good Housekeeping Deposit to protect our owners’ property, so that if damage/breakages occur or exceptional cleaning over and above the usual changeover clean is required up to the value of the deposit, the owner can be recompensed.
You have the option of paying either a £250 refundable Good Housekeeping Deposit or a smaller non-refundable £46 Deposit Waiver, which covers you to the value of £250. Please choose which option you prefer when booking. Click HERE for more information.

Driftwood is proudly situated on the Links Road just yards away from the sea front in the friendly and bustling town of Amble. This family holiday home is a stone’s throw to White House Sands Beach, and just a few minutes’ stroll from The Little Shore, pier and the fascinating working harbour. Everything in Amble can be reached easily on foot from Driftwood, including some of the best seafood restaurants and cafes in the county.
The coastline and harbour are very interesting in Amble as you can watch the fishing boats come and go. The views of Coquet Island from the pier are beautiful, as they are from the house too! A mile south along the coastal route is Hauxley Nature Reserve which has a whole host of different wildlife to spot all year round.
One mile north you will find the medieval village of Warkworth with its impressive castle towering over the centre of the village. Warkworth is very easy to reach on foot, following the walk along the Coquet estuary from the harbour until you reach the castle. In Warkworth you’ll find a great selection of village pubs (no less than 4 to choose from!) and a five-mile long golden sandy beach accessible from the north end of the village.
Amble is a great place to be based to enjoy the excellent choice of eateries and the beautiful coastal landscape on your doorstep, as well as visiting a host of other popular places in Northumberland such as Rothbury country village and the nearby Simonside Hills and Ingram Valley, the traditional coastal villages of Embleton, Craster and Bamburgh, to the central market town of Alnwick. Everywhere in Northumberland is easy to reach from this gorgeous holiday cottage in Amble.

Tips from a local
Stroll along to Lilly’s Landing for a top-notch seafood lunch by the harbour.
Just 5 minutes’ walk along the road from Driftwood, Lilly’s Landing offers gorgeous sea food dishes, flavoursome flatbreads, hearty breakfasts and tray bakes to die for, you can’t go wrong! The restaurant has a friendly, relaxed feel making it perfect for a glass of wine in the evening too.
Tips from a local
Take a flask of coffee and head south along the dunes and beach from the house to Hauxley and Druridge Bay.
Just a couple of miles down you’ll come to the pretty little hamlet of Hauxley. The beach is absolutely beautiful, and if you cut up through the dunes you’ll find a real hidden gem – The Hauxley Nature Reserve.
For a longer hike, stay on the beach for another couple of miles and cut up the wooden steps to Druridge Bay Country Park. The lake is very picturesque and there is a lovely cafe with excellent sandwiches and tray bakes to refuel before the hike home.

The Puffin Cruise leaves from Amble Harbour and takes you right the way out around the island. Keep your eyes peeled for seals and dolphins and of course Amble’s beloved puffins in the spring and summer season!

We asked Liam and Robyn what inspired them to have a holiday home in Amble and their favourite things to do on holiday!
“With Liam serving in the Royal Air Force we have lived all over the country, but when we were posted to RAF Boulmer in 2017, we fell in love with the North East. We bought this house a couple of years later, allowing us to come back and visit as well as giving others the opportunity to enjoy all this area has to offer.
We love Amble for many reasons: the people, the views and most importantly, the food! Our top tips include a fancy 3 course meal at Jasper’s or fish and chips from Harbour Fish Bar whilst sat on the sea front. In Amble you are spoiled for choice and it’s always delicious.
One of our favourite ways to spend our time here is to take a long walk along the coast on a Sunday, preferably with a roast and a beer at the end of it. The Jolly Fisherman in Craster, or The Joiners Arms in Newton-by-the-Sea are great places to finish. We must also mention the excellent golf courses as we are spoiled for choice here. You might want to check the weather forecast before teeing off though!
Driftwood is our home from home, and we hope that all of our guests experience the same joy that we get when staying here, whether they’re sitting on the balcony looking out to sea or chilling in the hot tub with a glass, or two, of prosecco.”
