Tips from a local
Farne Island Boat Cruises from Seahouses
Take a boat tour out to the Farne Islands with Billy Shiel’s boat trips. This is a must when you come to Northumberland, especially as you are so close to Seahouses. The tours leave from Seahouses harbour and sail all around the Farne Islands. Some stop at the islands where you can get off the boat and have a tour by one of the local rangers, and each boat tour differs depending on the season and what is nesting/breeding around the island. Billy Shiel’s tours are the largest operator in the town, still ran by all the members of the Shiel family who are the most knowledgeable about the area. Make sure you book in advance as they are incredibly popular, especially after being featured on the popular TV series with Robson Green’s ‘Tales from Northumberland’!

Budle Bay Walk
Walk or drive to Bamburgh village and walk from Bamburgh beach around to Budle Bay. The bay is full of wildlife at all times of the year and is a stunning expanse of golden sandy beach when the tide is out. On your way back to Bamburgh, admire the magnificent castle on the headland.

Local Sunday Lunch
Have Sunday Lunch at one of Bamburgh’s many restaurants, but make sure you book in advance! You have your choice of The Lord Crewe Arms, The Castle Inn, The Victoria Hotel and The Potted Lobster. They all get the daily catch from Seahouses so everything is as fresh as it can be.
Tips from a local
Visit Bamburgh Castle! This historic landmark is right on the doorstep of Farne View and is an interesting place to visit. You can take a tour of the castle and the grounds and the views of the village beach from the castle walls are spectacular.

A Little Note from the Owners…
“Northumberland is a favourite place of ours and so we were delighted when we had the opportunity to buy a place here. We bought Farne View almost before the foundations had been dug, but we could see what a wonderful site it was with a stunning view of Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands from one window and the Cheviot Hills from another.
We love to come up here with our dog, Holly (pictured on Bamburgh beach), particularly in the winter, to walk along one of the many superb stretches of coast – Ross Sands is amazing – then head off to the pub for local food and ale – bliss!”
