A Peaceful Leafy Escape in Historic Northumberland
Heather Cottage is an idyllic holiday retreat in the gorgeous, manicured grounds of the prestigious Burgham Park golf course. Just 15 minutes from the delightful town of Morpeth with it’s quality selection of shops and 15 minutes to historic Alnwick, home to the famous Alnwick Castle, Gardens and Treehouse.
Heather Cottage is as perfect in winter as it is in the summer, with the wood burning stove in the open plan living area for chilly days and frosty nights, and the lush green and evergreen trees surrounding the cottage creating a beautiful backdrop on dewy spring mornings or balmy summer nights.
Sleeping 6, each of the 3 bedrooms has it’s own bathroom, so is ideal for couples and friends holidaying together. Children are very welcome but regrettably Heather Cottage doesn’t accept pets.

Heather Cottage sleeps 6 guests across 3 bedrooms. The first 2 bedrooms are on the ground floor – both twin bedrooms. The master bedroom is on the first floor with a king size bed and each bedroom has an en suite.
The living space is on the first floor with a private, furnished balcony too. The kitchen, dining area and lounge are all open plan which fits perfectly with the relaxed and peaceful position of the cottage. The lounge area has a wood burning stove which is a gorgeous addition in the cooler months.
Although there is no garden, you can visually enjoy the well-maintained, lush green course from the balcony upstairs. Private parking is available for 2 cars and WiFi is included.
The entrance to the cottage is into the pleasant hallway with solid oak staircase. The two twin bedrooms can be found on the ground floor, both with en suites. At the end of the cottage you will find the washing machine in the utility area with a back door leading outside.
Front Twin Bedroom with En suite
2 single size beds (3ft wide) that can be converted into a super king size (6ft wide) upon request when booking, flat screen TV and plenty of storage, this bedroom also has a full en suite with shower over bath, WC and wash basin with a heated towel rail. Fluffy towels, luxury linens and a hair dryer are provided.
Back Twin Bedroom with En suite
This bedroom has 2 single beds (3ft wide) that can be converted into a super king size (6ft) upon request when booking, flat screen TV and lots of storage. This bedroom has an en suite with a shower over bath, WC and basin. Fluffy towels, luxury linens and a hair dryer are provided.
On the first floor you will find the living area and kitchen, the master bedroom and the balcony, to benefit from the pretty views.
The pretty kitchen is extremely well-equipped with all of the usual appliances such as an under bench fridge and freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and Tassimo coffee machine (starter pack of pods provided, but others available to buy at local supermarkets in Alnwick).
The dining table comfortably seats 6 guests.
The lounge area focuses around the wood burning stove (an initial supply of logs provided between October and April). There’s a large Smart TV and comfortable seating for 6, with an additional window seat.
The main bedroom is especially spacious, with a king size bed, plenty of storage, Smart TV and en suite. The en suite has a separate bath, large, walk-in shower, WC and wash basin with heated towel rail. Fluffy towels, luxury linens and a hair dryer are all provided.
The south-west facing balcony is accessed off the lounge and is furnished comfortable for 4. Extra seating can be used from the dining table.
There is private parking for Heather Cottage for 2 cars.

Sorry, no pets permitted at Heather Cottage. The cottage is completely pet-free so is suitable for guests with dog allergies.
3 bedrooms; master bedroom with king size bed (5ft wide) on the first floor; 2 twin bedrooms on the ground floor with single beds (3ft wide). Both twin bedrooms can be made into super king sizes (6ft wide) upon request when booking. Hypo-allergenic bedding and pillows are provided on each bed.
En suite to the master bedroom; walk-in shower, separate bath, WC and basin. En suite to the front twin bedroom; shower over bath, WC and basin. En suite to the back twin bedroom; shower over bath, WC and basin. All have heated towel rails.
There is no BBQ provided at Heather Cottage. But you are more than welcome to bring your own disposable one to use safely without damaging any furniture or grass.
There is private parking for up to 2 cars at the front of the cottage. Additional parking will be at the end of the driveway, with no traffic passing by.
Accommodation on 2 floors; the ground floor has the double and twin bedroom, both en suite, as well as the utility room. The open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area as well as the balcony is all upstairs.

Golfing Holidays & Large Groups
Love golf and want to come away with some friends? Heather Cottage is one of 5 cottages at Burgham Park, to accommodate a part of 30 who are looking to get together for a peaceful weekend enjoying the course. We have special deals for golf at the course whilst staying here and the Clubhouse can cater for large party dining. Just around the corner from Heather Cottage is The Clubhouse of the Golf Club, where you can grab lunch and enjoy a drink. You don’t have to have had a round of golf, it’s open to anyone. Their Sunday lunches are delicious and they also offer room hire and hot or cold buffets for larger parties if you’re planning a celebration. More information to follow.
There is a private balcony upstairs leading off the open plan lounge and has a table and chairs for up to 4 people. There is no enclosed garden at the cottage however the cottage is surrounded by lawns and you are free to walk around the periphery of the golf course. Children can play on the lawns around the cottage but it’s essential that they don’t go onto the greens for safety reasons, as golf could be in play.

Hairdryer, books, music and films. Dining table in the kitchen seats 6. Wood burning stove in the lounge with an initial supply of logs provided between October and April. Full central heating throughout.
Please be Aware
– Under no circumstances are dogs permitted in this cottage.
– The outside of the cottage is part of the golf course grounds, and whilst it’s fine for children to play close to the house and to take walk around the periphery of the course, please ensure you do not go onto the manicured greens or interrupt a game.
– WiFi is provided on a complimentary basis and cannot always be guaranteed either to be available all the time, or operate at the speeds you may be used to at home. If wi-fi is essential to you whilst on holiday, you are advised to bring your own mobile router or make use of local pubs and cafes which offer free wi-fi if the wi-fi in the cottage is not up to the standard you require.

Heather Cottage is a stone-built luxury holiday cottage located within the grounds of prestigious Burgham Park Golf Course, so the situation is very quiet and peaceful. Burgham Park is located close to the A1 meaning it’s very easy to reach all the attractions of Northumberland in all directions, however not noisy from the main road at all – the leafy evergreen trees block out the noise.
The clubhouse of the golf club is open until the early evening for bar meals and drinks, which is a 5 minute walk from the cottage. The golf course offers special deals for guests of Heather Cottage wishing to play on the course – more information will be available soon.
The nearest village to Burgham Park is pretty Felton, the very quaint little Northumbrian village just off the A1. Here you’ll find the delicious artisan bakery and cafe, The Running Fox, as well as The Northumberland Arms pub and restaurant – both well-worth a visit!
The nearest towns to Burgham Park is Alnwick to the north and Morpeth to the south, both just 15 minutes away in the car. In both towns you’ll find some lovely boutique shops, great restaurants and pubs and of course in Alnwick, the fabulous Alnwick Castle and Gardens.
The coast is just 18 minutes drive away at beautiful Druridge Bay and Country Park. There’s lots to explore whilst staying at Heather Cottage and the location is perfect to get to everything in Northumberland.
