A Charming Village Home in Peaceful Warkworth Village
Honeysuckle House is nestled within a quiet development on the riverbank of beautiful Warkworth Village. Just a couple of minutes easy stroll to the riverbank or in the other direction the main street of the village, you have the best of both worlds in this gorgeous retreat.
Complete with Smart TV’s and in a comfortable and relaxing setting, Honeysuckle House has a pretty and private rear patio which is perfect for enjoying a book and a glass of wine on a warm spring afternoon or balmy late-summer evening. If you wanted to wander into the village you can find a choice of 4 very good dog-friendly pubs all within no more than 5 minutes stroll from your front door. There are 3 excellent restaurants in the village, a very popular dog-friendly cafe, French Patisserie and gorgeous art gallery and gift shops.
Warkworth’s 5 mile stretch of golden sandy beach is just 15 minutes walk from the front door, and with no restriction on dogs it is perfect for our 4 legged-friends as Honeysuckle House welcomes 1 small-medium size dog. There’s 2 private parking spaces at the front of the cottage and free WiFi too.
This gorgeous cottage sleeps 4 guests in 3 bedrooms; 2 king size rooms and 1 single bedroom. The accommodation is spread over 3 floors, with the living-dining kitchen on the ground floor and a cloakroom WC. On the first floor you will find a snug, the kingsize bedroom, single bedroom and family bathroom. On the top floor you will find the spacious master bedroom with en suite.
Honeysuckle House has private parking on the driveway for 2 cars, welcomes 1 small-medium size dog (no bigger than a spaniel) and has an enclosed patio-garden with dining seating for 4. Free Wi-Fi as standard.
From the front door you enter into a welcoming hallway, which leads to the cloakroom WC and the living/dining-kitchen.
This lovely space houses the kitchen, the dining bar-style table and stools, as well as a a seating area. The dining arrangement is a bespoke bar table in solid wood with 4 comfortable bar stools. The lounge area has 2 3-seater sofas focused around a Smart TV with access to Netflix. There is a multitude of books and some games to enjoy too.
The kitchen comprises of all the usual appliances, such as a a freezer, fridge, Nespresso machine, kettle, toaster, microwave, blender. A washing machine is in the garage for guest use.
You can access the patio from the kitchen through the patio door.
The spacious cloakroom has plenty of room for hanging coats and storing shoes. There is a WC and wash hand basin too.
The first flight of stairs lead to the snug, king size bedroom, single bedroom and the family bathroom.
The snug has a Smart TV and sofa and armchair seating for up to 3.
This pleasant bedroom looks out to the trees and the rear patio. King size bed (5ft wide), built-in double wardrobe, luxury linens and fluffy towels provided. Hairdryer.
This lovely room has a double window letting in lots of natural light, overlooking the front of the property. There is a single-size bed (3ft wide), built-in single wardrobe, luxury linens and fluffy towels provided. Hairdryer.
This spacious bathroom has a large shower (small step up), WC and wash hand basin, with a heated towel rail. Complimentary toiletries by Temple Spa are included.
Master bedroom with en suite
The master bedroom is very spacious as it occupies the whole of the top floor. In this bedroom you will find a king size bed (5ft wide), plenty of storage including built-in wardrobes, lots of drawer space, a flat-screen TV, luxury linens and fluffy towels provided. Hairdryer.
The en suite has a fitted bath, separate walk-in shower, WC and wash hand basin, with a mirrored cabinet and towel rail. Complimentary toiletries by Temple Spa are included.
The pretty patio garden is framed by the tall trees and has shrubs growing around the borders. You can access the garden from the side of the house or from the patio door in the kitchen area. The patio has a table and 4 chairs that are covered in the winter.
There is parking for 2 standard-size cars on the driveway in front of the property. If you have a large 4×4 then you may not be able to fit 2 cars alongside each other.

The south-facing paved patio garden is fully enclosed and has dining furniture to seat 4.
There is no BBQ provided at Honeysuckle House. You are welcome to bring your own, so long as the furniture and stone flags aren’t damaged.
Bikes can be stored in the lockable garage. Please request use of the garage at the time of booking.

The dining arrangement is fixed to 4 guests and we cannot provide an additional bar stool.
The occupancy is limited to 4 guests due to the layout and provisions in the house.

A Northumbrian Welcome Hamper is provided, which includes some lovely basics including bread, butter, milk, tea, coffee and wine! Temple Spa complimentary toiletries are included. A bespoke property and local area guide tells you all you need to know to make the most of your stay. Free Wi-Fi for cosy nights in.

Accommodation on 3 floors; open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner and cloakroom on the ground floor. On the first floor there is the snug, double bedroom, single bedroom and family bathroom. On the top floor the master bedroom and en suite occupies the whole of the upstairs. Access is level into the front door.
There are 2 private parking spaces on the driveway outside of the front door.
Care of the Property
Our ‘Coquet’ cottages are much-loved privately-owned holiday homes into which our owners have lavished much care and investment to create beautiful places for their guests to enjoy. We therefore require a cautionary Good Housekeeping Deposit to protect our owners’ property, so that if damage/breakages occur or exceptional cleaning over and above the usual changeover clean is required up to the value of the deposit, the owner can be recompensed.
You have the option of paying either a £150 refundable Good Housekeeping Deposit or a smaller non-refundable £24 Deposit Waiver, which covers you to the value of £150. Please choose which option you prefer when booking. Click HERE for more information.
Map & Local Area
Honeysuckle House is perfectly positioned to take advantage of all this lovely village has to offer, it’s in a quiet residential area with no passing traffic. The walk to the beach is very pretty along the riverbank and will take about 15 minutes on foot, or you can drive, there are no parking charges. The nearest pub is The Sun Inn, which has a steakhouse restaurant, which is just 200 yards around the corner and there are several other very good restaurants, pubs and cafes to try too.
Walking to the fishing port of Amble is very easy from Honeysuckle House, as it’s just a mostly-level mile-long walk alongside the beautiful Coquet Estuary. In Amble you’ll find the local harbour market on a Sunday, as well as a fantastic selection of delicious seafood restaurants and bistro’s, including the award-winning Spurelli ice cream and coffee parlour.
Druridge Bay, Alnmouth, Alnwick, Beadnell, Embleton, Craster, Seahouses and Bamburgh are very easy to get to if you follow the well-signposted Coastal Route. Alternatively discover Rothbury and Kielder Forest inland, famous for the Dark Skies and the Kielder Observatory – take a trip at night, it’s likely to be different to what you see from home!

We’ve had a wonderful stay in the house which has most things you could need for a stay in this amazing area. Bertie has thoroughly enjoyed his walks along the river and Jacks enjoyed taking plenty of photos of the landscape and wildlife. For dog friendly places to eat, Bertram’s and The Warkworth House Hotel are good in the village. Surfing and Paddle Boarding on the Northumberland Coastline
Northside Surf aim to offer an experience which won’t be forgotten.
Providing stand-up-paddle boarding individual and group lessons along with surfing lessons and welcoming all ages and abilities to come and enjoy surfing and stand up paddle boarding on several beautiful beaches along the Northumberland coast such as; North Druridge Bay, Warkworth Bay, Longhouton Bay, Embleton Bay, Beadnell Bay, Seahouses and Bamburgh.

A fabulous contemporary cafe created from the conversion of an old pub, Bertram’s is incredibly popular at all times of the day and is open from 9am-7pm 7 days a week.
Serving fabulous food with everything from traditional Northumbrian fare such as Kipper Pate through to more contemporary dishes such as Eggs Benedict as well as the best Afternoon Teas in the area. Bertram’s is perfect for a coffee or home made Cullen Skink soup after a long walk on the beach, or even an early evening meal with little ones. Planning a pre-Christmas break to get you in the holiday spirit?
Tie your holiday in with the Warkworth Christmas Shopping evening. It generally happens on the last Friday in November, where most of the shops open in the village for late shopping and mince pies and bubbly. The church host’s tombola’s, raffles and other fun games and the Memorial Hall opens for local retailers to showcase their Christmas stock. The pubs have the best atmosphere on this night, as it is a big community evening to all getting in the spirit of Christmas and you can get a head start on your shopping! If you are planning to eat out in the village that night, make sure you get booked up in advance.
Tips from a local
A special walk around the local village of Warkworth..
Try the Mill Walk which you reach through the castle grounds (over the road from the cottage). Whether you have a dog or not, this is a very pretty route that can takes about 30-35 minutes. Follow the river and it takes you along a beautiful walk along the Coquet River, eventually ending up at the clearing where The Hermitage is located(see more on our page all about Warkworth). Deer can be spotted here as well as lots of other wildlife along the riverbank.

We asked the owners of Honeysuckle House what drew them to the property:
Four years ago my husband, myself and our pooch Ted decided to have a long weekend in Northumberland. We chose Warkworth, at the time unaware of how lovely it is, and were so impressed over a few visits that we bought Honeysuckle House and have visited regularly ever since.
Honeysuckle House is a modern, comfortable and relaxing house and is conveniently placed for lovely walks by the river and easy access to the beach. We have great local eateries and some lovely shops and are very close to Amble, Alnmouth and Alnwick. In no time at all you can get to so many amazing places including Holy Island, Bamburgh and many more. Away from the coast we regularly visit Cragside, one of the many National Trust/English Heritage locations.
All in all, this is a beautiful area with so much to see and do and yet the simple things like a walk on the beach with the dog, or a short stroll by the river, are why we love relaxing and spending time here.
