We had a great time staying at Quay West. It was special being the first people to stay in the property which was immaculate and perfect for our stay. We really liked the location, space, quality of the equipment and the hot tub!

Ice Cream Heaven
You can’t miss out on a Spurelli’s ice cream when staying in Amble, and luckily it’s just around the corner from Quay West! Spurellis didn’t get their multiple awards for nothing – our favourites are Double Strawberry, Cherryvilla and Salted Caramel.
If you don’t have a sweet tooth, they also serve Illy coffee and are also fully licenced, so you can swap the ice cream for a different treat instead.
Tips from a local
There is a great, little surf community in Amble, with Northside Surf School offering private and group lessons all year round. Jon is a qualified surf instructor and lifeguard, and is great fun for a family day out. Whether you’re looking for a bit of a laugh in a group session, or to improve your skills in a one-to-one lesson, Jon is highly recommended, and can even take you to the private beach on the other side of the harbour! All equipment and wet suits are provided – so what are you waiting for?!

Enjoy a Picnic
Pick up some fresh bread and other deli goodies from either La Famiglia or The Amble Butcher on the high street, pack a picnic and head down towards the Braid, just a few minutes walk from Quay West. This large open grassed space overlooks the sea and has picnic benches for seating. You can the boats going in and out of the marina.
The Braid is only a few minutes from the main street, so that if you forget something or want more scrumptious treats, you’re almost just around the corner!

Discover the coast on your bike
Hire some pedal bikes and explore the coastline from your doorstep.
As Amble is on the Northumberland Coastal Path, you can cycle as far as your legs will take you! Head south towards Druridge Bay and Cresswell (have a pit-stop at The Drift Cafe for a coffee and something sweet) or head north towards Warkworth and take the cycle path heading up to Alnmouth, admiring the Balamory-style houses as you tootle along.
You can even head further north towards Boulmer (a really pretty fishing village with a good pub) although you may want to get the bus back after that (or certainly after a pint).

Druridge Bay Country Park
Make sure you pay a visit to Druridge Bay which you can easily reach by car in 5 minutes or on foot which will take a bit longer but along a lovely coastal walk.
Not only is it a pretty country park with a 100 acre lake fringed with woodland and meadows, it also has a huge 7 mile stretch of golden sandy beach and has several nature reserves tucked behind it’s dunes.
Druridge Bay is a hub of activity, hosting the national Park Run every Saturday, the annual VW Campervan Festival and the lake is home to many watersports activities all year round. If watersports is your thing, visit Northside Surf School, based in Amble.
Owner of Quay West
A Word from the Owner…
What a place to have worked over the years, developing what was boatyard storage land into Coble Quay, a stunning waterfront Estate. We really are blessed to spend our working days here.
Every day we get to watch the tide roll in and out, while boats come and go, and birds fly free over the waters. It’s forever changing and still to this day we’re mesmerised by its captivating beauty, it’s a wonder we’ve managed to get any work done! We are lucky to call this paradise home, our second home. On days off we enjoy dog walks along the beach as well as hiking and mountain biking in the national parks. We love nothing more than sharing this wonderful place with our guests and hearing all about their adventures.
Not sure where to start?
