The working Amble harbour is only a 5 minute walk from the apartment, where you’ll find quirky weekend markets, local fish restaurants and the ‘Harbour Village’; a collection of pop-up pod shops leading down to the harbour walls, and some fantastic eateries and bars. Being centrally positioned in Amble town means great restaurants, shops and of course, the sea, are just yards from your door, yet inside it is quiet and peaceful.
Queen Street Hideaway sleeps 4 adults and welcomes 2 dogs. It’s perfect for families or couples looking to enjoy a coastal break in a lively area, with plenty to see and do on foot from the doorstep.
Sleeping 4 guests with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, Queen Street Hideaway is a luxurious, contemporary first floor apartment, right in the heart of Amble Fishing Town. With the open plan living, dining and kitchen area, the apartment is ideal for couples as well as families and welcomes up to 2 well-behaved, medium size dogs. Free unlimited Wi-Fi is provided as well as lots of home comforts and welcome luxuries.
The front door leads off the main street into a cosy, welcoming hallway, with 1 flight of stairs up to the main area of the apartment. The hallway also leads to the small yard, perfect for securely storing bikes and surfboards!
Open Plan Kitchen/Dining Area and Lounge
The open-plan kitchen/ living/ dining area is light and airy, with 2 large west facing windows. The living area contains 2 stylish and comfortable leather sofas, nest of tables, and a wall-mounted Smart TV with Netflix account provided for guest use. The electric log burner effect heater makes the room extra homely in the evening, giving off plenty of heat and creating a cosy ambiance. Games and board games are provided in the corner cupboard underneath the kitchen counter too.
There is a round, glass dining table near the kitchen, with seating for up to 4 guests. There is also additional seating for 4 at the breakfast bar, with ambient pendant lighting above.
The modern, shaker-style kitchen has everything you could need during your stay. The integrated appliances include dishwasher, fridge/ freezer, washer/ dryer, electric hob and oven. There is also a microwave and a Dolce Gusto coffee machine provided, and an Amazon Alexa speaker.
This spacious bedroom has gorgeous sash windows to the front and back. The front of the room looks out on to the quaint main street of Amble, and is fully doubled glazed to help ensure a good night’s sleep. This bedroom contains a king size bed (5ft wide), bedside tables, double wardrobe, chest of drawers and a full dressing table with mirror attached and stool underneath. The room also has a Smart TV mounted to the wall, with Netflix account provided. Luxury-quality bed linen and fluffy towels are provided, as well as a hairdryer and hair straighteners.
This room is set with a king size bed (5 ft wide) as default, and can be split into to two small single beds (2 ft 6″ wide) on request when booking. The room also has a lovely sash window looking onto the main street (again fully double glazed), bedside tables, double wardrobe, chest of drawers and wall-mounted Smart TV with Netflix account. Luxury-quality bed linen and fluffy towels are provided, as well as a hairdryer and hair straighteners.
The modern bathroom has a luxurious deep bath with a shower attachment, separate shower with rainfall shower head and additional attachment, heated towel rail, WC and basin with an illuminated mirror above. Luxury complimentary Temple Spa toiletries are provided and the bathroom also benefits from under floor heating for extra comfort underfoot.
Whilst the accommodation is on the first floor, there is a small yard to the rear, which is shared with the hair dressing salon below. There is no outside seating space, but guests are very welcome to store bikes or other sporting equipment here during your stay.

2 bedrooms; 1 king-size room (5ft wide bed) and a second king-size room that can be separated into two small single beds (2 ft 6″ wide) upon request. Hypo-allergenic duvets, and a mix of feather and non-feather pillows are provided on each bed. One full ‘anti-allergenic’ bed is available by swapping the pillows – please request this when booking if required.
The family bathroom is fully tiled with a large bath with shower attachment, separate shower with rainfall shower head and additional attachment, WC, wash basin, illuminated mirror and heated towel rail. The bathroom also has underfloor heating.
There is a small yard accessed from the ground floor hallway, shared with the hair dressing salon below. There is no outside seating, but the yard can be used for storing bikes or surfboards etc.
Queen Street Hideaway does not have an allocated parking space, parking is on street. There are no parking restrictions between 5pm and 9am (Monday to Saturday, with no restrictions all day Sunday), so guests are able to park on the main street in front of the apartment overnight from 4pm until 10am. Between 9am and 5pm there is a 1 hour maximum parking restriction on Queen Street. Parking is available on the nearby residential streets, or in the public car parks in Amble. Please note the restrictions stated on the blue notices in each carpark/area.
Please be Aware
Queen Street Hideaway is on the main street of Amble, which is fantastic for having everything on your doorstep in a charming fishing town, but cannot be deemed in a peaceful and tranquil setting due to it’s central location. You benefit hugely by not having to jump in the car for anything as the lively town has a great selection of restaurants, shops, markets and of course the harbour and coastline just around the corner, which naturally means there will be foot and minor car traffic outside of the property at most times. There are a couple of pubs close by, and whilst we don’t anticipate this will disturb your holiday, we can’t guarantee that you won’t hear people passing by on the weekend evenings. This has already been taken in to consideration when pricing the apartment.
Map & Local Area
Queen Street Hideaway in Amble is situated on the main street of this lively little fishing town, fittingly nicknamed ‘The Friendliest Port’. With so much to see and do right from the door-step, you can enjoy a full week of exploring without ever needing to get on your car.
Restaurants such as Rossini, The Old Boathouse award-winning fish restaurant, Sea and Soil, the rustic Fish Shack, Lilly’s Landing and Indian restaurant Taj Mahal, are all within 5 minutes or less of the property – you’re completely spoiled for choice!
Amble is most well-known for it’s interesting working harbour and quirky weekend markets, as well as their delicious fish and chip shops on the harbour. You can walk to Warkworth village easily in less an half an hour, where you’ll find a quaint street of pretty shops, cafes and dog-friendly pubs, as well as the castle, leafy river walks and of course, the beach.
Amble has a small beach called The Little Shore, which is no more than 10 minutes walk from the cottage. It’s dog friendly out of season, between the months of October and April. Alternatively you can walk to Low Hauxley beach along the coast heading south and further onto Druridge Bay, which is dog friendly all year round.

Everything that was provided in the apartment was more than we could have ever wished for and everything was fully accommodated for. The thought and care that has been done whilst putting this beautiful apartment together is next to none. The décor throughout the apartment is beautiful along with the kitchen and bathroom facilities. It was spotlessly clean and plenty of cleaning products left in the kitchen so it can be kept in the condition it was left in. The location of the apartment has easy access to shops, bakeries, and many other shops that you may need whilst staying there, with many of beautiful sights to easily get to in and around the Amble area. Jon and Vicki are amazing hosts and take everything into consideration for your stay at the apartment, nothing is too much trouble! Tips from a local
Meander down to The Little Shore and see where it takes you…
The Little Shore is at the south end of Amble, and whilst dogs aren’t permitted on the beach between April and September, you can walk along to Whitehouse Sands past the breakwater and further down the coast to Hauxley, Druridge Bay and Cresswell.
It’s a lovely walk down the back of the dunes and along the coastline – get the camera ready!
Tips from a local
For a top notch meal in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, be sure to visit Jasper’s Cafe and Bistro, just 3 minutes’ walk from the apartment down Queen Street and off to your right at the cross roads by Tesco. The food is exquisite (Jasper’s reached number 1 on Trip Advisor out of 778 eateries in Northumberland!) and the staff go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your whole dining experience.
Tips from a local
Feeling adventurous? Try your hand at Surfing!
There is a great little surf community in Amble, and Northside Surf School offer both individual and group lessons for all ages and abilities! Jon has access to the ‘private’ beach over on the Northside of the harbour, and makes the lessons great fun whilst offering one on one instructing and advice.
There is a handy storage yard for surfboards and paddleboards at Queen Street Hideaway if you have your own equipment, but Jon can provide boards, wetsuits, gloves and boots for you.
