Sandpiper near Seahouses is situated in a quiet yet central village location in North Sunderland, in an exclusive re-development of an original model farm. Sandpiper is one of the largest cottages, with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and a private outdoor hot tub.
Perfect for a family or couples holidaying together, Sandpiper is furnished and equipped to a luxurious 5 Star standard, so is perfect for discerning guests who wish to stay on the Northumberland coast, near the sea, without compromising on quality. Decorated in a gorgeous ‘coastal chic’ style, there are many artworks by renowned local artists and designer fabrics are used throughout the cottage.
The hot tub will no longer be available from 3rd January 2022.
Sleeping up to 8 in 4 bedrooms with 4 bathrooms, the maximum occupancy of 8 in the cottage includes infants. The large kitchen dining room, beautiful lounge and a separate ‘den’ provide the perfect living space for all guests, young and old. There is a pretty, lawned garden with flowering shrubs, a large patio with a beautiful outdoor dining suite. The luxury private hot tub in the garden is fun for all ages (children must be supervised at all times of course).
Free Wi-fi is provided throughout the cottage and there is a telephone for incoming calls (outgoing calls to emergency services only). Up to two well behaved dogs are very welcome for a small charge of £20 each per holiday.
Sandpiper has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the ground floor, which offers flexibility for less mobile guests as it’s mostly level access from the car parking area into the house. Whilst the ground floor is all on one level, please note that there is a small step up to the shower in the double bedroom.
Sandpiper has its own private luxury hot tub! Available all year round, our prices are fully inclusive, so there’s no extra charge to make full use of it throughout your holiday. All we ask is that it’s respected and the neighbours are respected too, by keeping noise levels down late at night as this property has both residential and holidaymakers for neighbours.
Accessed from the spacious hallway and the kitchen, the lounge is beautifully furnished with full length French windows leading onto the private garden and patio, a large flat screen TV and DVD/CD player and docking station/hi-fi. There is a ‘wood burning-style’ gas stove in the lounge too.
Accessed from the main hallway is a second lounge, with a flat screen HD TV, DVD player, Amazon FireStick, PlayStation 3 games console and a selection of books, DVD’s and games for all ages. With comfortable sofas, this is the perfect room for children to chill in while the adults enjoy the lounge, or adults to simply spread out into.
The kitchen is very well equipped and beautifully finished, with luxury cabinets and granite work surfaces. There is a stainless steel range cooker with electric oven and gas hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is also a PURE iPod/iPhone docking station Hi-Fi which may be used in this room or transferred to any other room if required.
The large oak dining table comfortably seats up to 8 guests and overlooks the private garden via full length French windows.
Bedroom 1 – ‘Ground Floor’ Master Bedroom
Please note that the ground floor bedrooms are situated in a separate ‘wing’ accessed from the hallway, with a door providing privacy and quiet from the main living areas if required.
A lovely, spacious room with a king-size bed with luxury pocket-sprung mattress and base, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space, flat screen TV with DVD player and DAB radio system. Hairdryer and luxury bed linen and towels provided.
En-Suite Shower Room to Bedroom 1
With large walk-in shower (with a small step up), WC and wash hand basin as well as a heated towel rail. Towels and complimentary toiletries by The White Company provided.
Two full size single beds with pocket sprung mattresses. Plenty of drawer storage. DAB radio system. Luxury bed linen and towels provided.
Ground Floor Bathroom and WC
A spacious bathroom containing a bath with shower above, WC and wash hand basin with a heated towel rail. Towels and complimentary luxury toiletries by The White Company provided.
Bedroom 3 – ‘First Floor’ Master Bedroom
Another spacious room with beautiful bespoke cabinetry providing extensive drawer and wardrobe space. Super-king-size (6ft wide) luxury bed with pocket sprung mattress and base. DAB radio system. Luxury bed linen and towels provided. Hairdryer.

Bedroom 4 – Twin Single Beds
A spacious and attractive bedroom with twin single (3ft wide) beds which can be converted to a super-king-size (6ft wide) bed (for adults only) upon request. Extensive drawer space. As with all the bedrooms, it’s luxuriously furnished with designer fabrics. DAB radio system. Luxury bed linen and towels provided.

The landing area is spacious and an ideal place for children to chill out, where there is a selection of books, toys, games and comfy floor cushions. Stair gates are available upon request and are recommended when very young children are staying.

Accommodation on 2 floors; on the ground floor there is the dining kitchen, lounge, second lounge, family bathroom, twin bedroom and ground floor master bedroom with an en suite with a shower cubicle. On the first floor there is the second twin room (convertible to super-king) with en suite bathroom and the master bedroom with en suite bathroom. The ground floor is generally wheelchair accessible, if this is a requirement, please see our virtual tour below to view the interior of the property carefully to assess if it’s suitable for your needs.
Please be Aware
There is a maximum occupancy level of 8 persons at Sandpiper. This includes infants, so if for example you have 1 infant requiring a cot, we can provide this, but can only accept a maximum of 7 other persons to stay in the cottage.
There is a strict maximum limit of 2 dogs permitted to stay, under our house rules which include them not being permitted on furniture or beds under any circumstances or being left unattended in the cottage.
The hot tub will no longer be available from 3rd January 2022.

The duvets and pillows provided are all non-feather, suitable for guests with allergies to feather.

Care of the Property
Our ‘Coquet’ cottages are much-loved privately-owned holiday homes into which our owners have lavished much care and investment to create beautiful places for their guests to enjoy. We therefore require a cautionary Good Housekeeping Deposit of £250 to protect our owners’ property, so that if damage/breakages occur or exceptional cleaning over and above the usual changeover clean is required up to the value of the deposit, the owner can be recompensed. Within walking distance of St. Aiden’s beach and the popular seaside village of Seahouses. Seahouses has many shops and restaurants and a picturesque harbour where the famously historic and quirky ‘The Olde Ship Inn’ is situated, although there is also a good ‘foodie’ pub just yards from Sandpiper in North Sunderland. It’s great base from which to explore Northumberland from, taking in Bamburgh (just 5 minutes drive), Alnwick, Holy Island and The Borders.
On rainy days, The Ocean Club at Seahouses is great for adults and children alike, with use of the spa and leisure facilities.

This was our third visit to this fantastic cottage. As always it was so comfortable, beautifully furnished and a joy to stay in. On this occasion we were with some friends also with two children and what a fantastic stay we all had. The children played happily in the snug whilst we enjoyed a quiet glass of wine by the fire in the lounge. All the bedrooms are so comfortable and spacious and the separate bedroom areas worked really well with our two families. Tips from a local
Your nearest bar and restaurant is at The Longstone House Hotel, just minutes from Village Farm (just turn right out of the close). This gorgeous bar and restaurant is newly opened and the restaurant serves all fresh local produce including the catch from Seahouses harbour. The restaurant is small so booking in advance is definitely recommended. They are open on Thursday evenings, all day on Friday and Saturday and then for Sunday lunch.
The bar serves a wide range of beers and spirits and is open from 5pm till late on Monday – Thursday, then from Midday to late from Friday – Sunday and you can enjoy a drink in the sunny beer garden.
Tips from a local
Take a boat tour out to the Farne Islands with Billy Shiel’s boat trips. This is a must when you come to Northumberland, especially as you are so close to Seahouses. The tours leave from Seahouses harbour and sail all around the Farne Islands. Some stop at the islands where you can get off the boat and have a tour by one of the local rangers, and each boat tour differs depending on the season and what is nesting/breeding around the island. Billy Shiel’s tours are the largest operator in the town, still ran by all the members of the Shiel family who are the most knowledgeable about the area. Make sure you book in advance as they are incredibly popular, especially after being featured on the much-loved TV series ‘Tales from Northumberland’ with Robson Green.
Tips from a local
Walk or drive to Bamburgh village and walk from Bamburgh beach around to Budle Bay. The bay is full of wildlife at all times of the year and is a stunning expanse of golden sandy beach when the tide is out. On your way back to Bamburgh, admire the magnificent castle on the headland.
Tips from a local
Dine at The Apple Core in Lucker. Just about a 10 minute drive from the cottage, this small, family-owned pub and restaurant is a real hidden gem. If you are dining with a large group, or in peak season be sure to book to avoid disappointment – the restaurant area is quite small which gives it a lovely, personal feel but as it is popular with both locals and holiday makers alike it can get full pretty quickly!
