The Hayloft at Roses Bower
Honeystone Hayloft with Stunning Valley Views and a Hot Tub
The Hayloft at Roses Bower is a beautifully converted barn with a wood-fired hot tub and breathtaking southerly views of the rolling Tynedale valley. Located just outside the thriving and pretty village of Corbridge, The Hayloft is within very easy reach of Hadrian’s Wall and the market town of Hexham, and it’s also less than 20 minutes’ drive away from Capheaton Hall, the popular wedding venue in Northumberland.
The Hayloft sleeps up to 6 adults and 2 children. The owners have managed to keep the original ‘hayloft’, which looks over the kitchen and with reduced headroom it’s designed to sleep 2 children comfortably. Nestled alongside The Drum Barn and Old Woodworker’s Cottage, each cottage has its own space and comfort.
The Hayloft is the perfect place to escape from busy life with all your home comforts on tap. The private and enclosed garden gives you a place to relax and unwind on a balmy summer evening whilst the huge wood-burning stove will keep you snug and toasty on those chilly winter evenings.

Tips from a local
Visit Corbridge and Hexham. Corbridge is a very pretty village with bespoke shops, lovely coffee shops, some great eateries and a Church worth having a look in. It’s full of history which oozes from its streets and the River Tyne adjacent.
Hexham is a bigger place; a market town with a fantastic Abbey and all the modern facilities you would expect, as well as an ancient Gaol.
Tips from a local
If staying in this beautiful part of our country then a visit to Hadrian’s Wall is an absolute MUST. In particular Vindolanda, Houseteads, and Steel Rigg. For the latter take your walking boots if you really want one of the finest views from along the wall and would like to see Sycamore Gap.
Tips from a local
Have a drive down to Blanchland and visit The Lord Crewe Arms and have a drink in the Crypt bar. Awarding winning ‘hotel of the year’ in 2016, this pub has fantastic reviews and the food is fantastic. It’s also in the North Pennines AONB.
Owner of The Hayloft at Roses Bower
A Word from the Owner…
Of all the cottages at Roses Bower, the Hayloft needed the most work. Well, for a start, it needed a roof. And a floor – as I’m not convinced earth floors are all that popular in Four Star Gold holiday cottages. Over the years the roof ridge had slumped and lost the will to live. Bits of old chain and mysterious farm implements lay around the place, busily rusting. But underneath the gaping holes, the draughty windows, and the rickety staircase to the hayloft (once a farm worker’s cottage, used as a chicken shed by the last farmers to live here), there was something magnificent. I especially loved all the old timber which, after we got busy with the wire wool and the briwax, just gleams. You can almost see your face in the beams. It was a puzzle to fit everything in, but the secret was finding the spiral staircase to access the upstairs master bedroom. Add one freestanding bath in the middle of that room et voila; you are bathed in luxury. Or pop outside to the hot tub, secluded and sheltered, with southerly views across Hadrian’s Wall to the moors of Country Durham in the distance.
In theory the Hayloft itself, a double bedroom up the original steep staircase and with restricted height, is just for kids – but I have lost count of the number of adult guests who see it and say ‘Wow! That’s so cute! I’m sleeping there!’ The chickens are long gone. Now, it’s more of a love nest.
