The Penthouse is most certainly the cream of the crop when it comes to a luxurious waterfront escape to the coast.

The duplex apartment has a large open plan living area, games room and four bedrooms all with en suites, sleeping up to eight guests. The Penthouse has two private balconies providing breath taking sea views from every window.

Perfectly positioned in the heart of bustling Amble on the marina, The Penthouse is a stone’s throw away from award-winning restaurant The Old Boathouse, as well as The Fish Shack, The Fat Mermaid and the Harbour Village, which comprises a collection of local sellers leading down to the harbour walls.

Access to The Penthouse is level and you can use either the elevator or the stairs to reach the top floor. There are two private parking spaces as well as additional visitor parking near by. The twin bedroom is on the ground level of The Penthouse which is perfect for those with restricted mobility.

The Penthouse has an impressive open plan living area, four en-suite bedrooms and a games room. Space is not compromised in this duplex apartment with stunning sea views.

The bedrooms consist of two super-king rooms, one king-room and one twin room with single beds. Every bedroom has a Smart TV whilst the games room has a large Smart TV with a PS4 games console. There is unlimited Wi-Fi throughout as well as full access to Netflix and Spotify.

The Penthouse suits many guests from multi-generational families to groups of friends.

Outside there is a secure under-croft store unit and two designated parking spaces, with additional visitor parking very close by.


Access to the apartment building is level, with lift access to The Penthouse on the top floor if required. As you enter the apartment you are greeted by a large hallway featuring a beautiful oak staircase and an oak bench seat. There is sufficient space to hang coats and store shoes, with additional storage in the adjoining WC.


Through a glass door you will enter into an impressive lounge and the view from the floor to ceiling windows will take your breath away. With unrestricted views of Amble Marina, the Coquet Estuary, Warkworth Castle and the Warkworth beach dunes, the eastern coast to the north, Coquet Island and out to sea, the views alone will amuse you for hours as you watch the tide ebb and flow.

The lounge features a grand four-seater sofa, a love chair for two, armchair and large stool all surrounding a cosy electric flame-effect fire, below a huge wall-mounted Smart TV, with full access to Netflix. There is a selection of reading books as well as access to Spotify through Sonos speakers in the ceiling throughout the living area and Master Suite.

Dining Space

A beautiful driftwood and glass table is positioned centrally within the open plan room, which comfortably seats eight guests and is lit by two pendant lights. The surrounding views can be enjoyed from the dining table.


The kitchen has a large island with a breakfast bar seating three guests, plenty of storage space and views above the kitchen counter overlooking Amble Lifeboat Station and southwards towards Coquet Island, the pier and of course the north east sea.  The fully equipped kitchen has integrated appliances consisting of an electric fan oven, microwave, fridge freezer, induction hob, extractor hood, dishwasher, toaster, cafetiere and a boiling hot water tap, so no need to use a kettle.

Balcony/Lookout Point

The best seats in the house are the two Stressless recliner chairs complete with footstools, perfectly positioned in front of the balcony door to enjoy an uninterrupted and beautiful far-reaching view. Step out onto the balcony where there is further seating available for two, a perfect spot to enjoy a chilled wine over the sunset, or a hot coffee, watching the sun rise in the east.

Games Room

The games room has a three-seater sofa, two large gaming bean bags, a huge wall-mounted Smart TV, PS4 games console with a selection of games, two wireless controllers and views out to Amble boatyard.

Twin Bedroom with En-suite Bathroom (Bedroom Four)

This bedroom is on the lower floor of The Penthouse and has two full-size single beds, fitted wardrobes with a dressing table and large mirror, wall-mounted Smart TV, luxury linens and views of Amble boatyard.

The en-suite bathroom has a shower over the bath, WC, wash basin, heated towel rail and a large mirror with feature lighting. Fluffy towels are provided.

Utility Room

This useful utility room contains a washing machine, tumble dryer, sink, lots of surface space, as well as an iron, ironing board and clothes airer.


Ground Floor WC

A large cloakroom, accessed from the main hallway, consisting of a WC, wash basin, mirror with feature lighting and additional coat hooks.

First Floor

Master Bedroom with En-suite Shower Room and Inset Balcony

The master suite is as spacious as a studio apartment, with a super-king size bed, luxury bed linen and a private lit balcony with seating for two. This bedroom also has a picture window with breath taking sea views overlooking Warkworth beach and sand dunes – perfectly viewed from the comfort of your bed. There is a three-seater sofa with a wall-mounted Smart TV and an electric flame-effect fire.  A Sonos sound system with Spotify is built into the ceiling, and there is a ‘drinks’ cabinet (no drinks supplied) filled with fine glassware and cocktail kits.

The dressing room has plenty of wardrobe and drawer space including a full-length mirror. The en-suite shower room has a large walk-in shower, wash basin, heated towel rail, WC and wall-size mirror with feature lighting. Fluffy towels are provided.

Bedroom Two with En-suite Shower Room

This spacious room has spectacular views out to Amble harbour and Coquet Island. There is a super-king size bed (6ft wide) with luxury bed linen, wall-mounted Smart TV and a love seat sofa for two. The walk-through dressing room has ample storage with a large dressing table, and leads to the en-suite shower room.

The en-suite shower room features a picture window with views out to sea and contains a large walk-in shower, heated towel rail, WC and wash basin. Fluffy towels are provided.

Bedroom Three with En-suite Shower Room

This lovely room has a king-size bed (5ft wide) with luxury bed linen, a wall-mounted Smart TV, and his and hers walk-in wardrobes. The large picture window looks out to Amble town with sea views over to Coquet Island.

The en-suite shower room has a large walk-in shower, wash basin, WC and heated towel rail. Fluffy towels are provided.

Four bedrooms; two super king bedrooms with 6ft wide beds, one king size bedroom with king size bed (5ft wide) and one twin bedroom with full-size single beds (3ft wide). Hairdryers and towels provided.

Accommodation is split across two floors. However, access into the apartment building is level, there is an elevator up to the top floor and level access into the hallway of the apartment. The twin bedroom is on the ground floor of the apartment, with an en-suite. The en-suite has a bath with shower over.

The balcony from the lounge has seating for two and breathtaking views. The balcony from the master bedroom also has seating for two.

We regret no pets are permitted at The Penthouse.

There is no BBQ provided at The Penthouse and due to it’s location and position it would not be appropriate to use a BBQ on the balcony. Why not take a disposable BBQ to the beach with a picnic instead?

Access to the apartment is via stairs or a lift. This property is great for those with limited mobility as there is level access once inside the apartment with 1 bedroom on the ground floor of the apartment, however, please bear in mind that in the case of a fire or another emergency, you are not permitted to use the lift. If there is a fault with the lift and it is out of use for your holiday, Coquet Cottages nor the owner of the property can be held responsible for this and access to the apartment will be via stairs only. If you solely rely on lift access, please be aware that this property might not be suitable for you if the lift is out of order for your stay or in the case of an emergency where residents are not permitted to use the lift.

The Penthouse is perfectly positioned to view and enjoy the stunning Amble coastline, marina, North Sea and the Coquet Estuary from all of the huge windows in the apartment as well as wall-to-wall glazed doors.

From the door of the apartment main entrance, you can take a stroll along the promenade to the harbour front, where you will find an interesting local market on a Sunday and also The Fish Shack, a daytime bistro serving fresh fish, pizzas, etc. Further on you can find Spurelli’s ice cream parlour, The Old Boathouse award-winning fish restaurant and the Harbour Village; a cluster of small independent gift shops. Radcliffe’s bar and restaurant is just around the corner from The Penthouse and serves breakfast and evening meals. Their gin selection is very popular!

The rock pools are great to explore which are next to the beach along from the harbour, as is the little bay and the pier stretching right out to the lighthouse, where you have beautiful views of Coquet Island.  The whole of the Northumberland heritage coastline is easy to discover from Amble, with its necklace of pretty coastal villages threaded up the coastline to Holy Island and Budle Bay.

Our family stayed at the Penthouse for a week to celebrate my 60th birthday. The owners very kindly gave me a birthday card and cake which was very thoughtful. The accommodation was fabulous and I could not find fault with anything. It was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated with top notch furniture and fittings. The kitchen had everything we could ever have needed for in-house catering and the views from the apartment were breathtaking. Fantastic apartment that I hope to visit again if I am lucky

Right on your doorstep, begin your day with a Radcliffe’s breakfast!

The avocado smash flatbread, with bacon and poached egg is to die for. Along with the traditional full English breakfast!

Radcliffe’s is just next door to the Coble Quay Apartments, and offers delicious, freshly made food with top quality ingredients. They have an excellent range of beers, ales and gins, and there’s a great evening atmosphere too.

These pretty little huts are ran by small local independent businesses. From arts and crafts, to delicious gins and cheeses, you’ll find some real hidden gems along here.

Leading along to the harbour front, be sure not to bypass them along the way.

Book an evening meal at Jasper’s Bistro!

This pretty little restaurant is very small and offers a relaxed, intimate dining experience. The food is absolutely exquisite. The chef specialises in seafood and steak dishes, and the care and attention to detail is apparent on every plate.

Booking is definitely advised to avoid disappointment, especially for larger parties.

Tips from a local

Go on a Puffin Cruise to Coquet Island, sailing from Amble dock. The island is home to over 40,000 nesting sea birds such as Puffins, Roseate Terns, Sandwich Terns, Arctic Terns, Kittiwakes and Eider Ducks which all nest there in the summer months. A grey seal colony also lives on the island all year round and can be seen on the east side of the island. The waters around the island are really clear and sometimes you can see dolphins. Dave Grey’s boat trips are the best and have been operating for the longest.

Go surfing! There is a great, little surf community in Amble, with Northside Surf School offering private and group lessons all year round. Jon is a qualified surf instructor and lifeguard, it’s great fun for a family day out. Whether you’re looking for a bit of fun with a group session, or to improve your skills in a one-to-one lesson, Jon is highly recommended, and can even take you to the private beach on the other side of the harbour! All equipment and wet suits are provided – so what are you waiting for?!

A Word from the Owner…

What a place to have worked over the years, developing what was boatyard storage land into Coble Quay, a stunning Waterfront Estate. We really are blessed to spend our working days here.

Every day we get to watch the tide roll in and out, while boats come and go, and birds fly free over the waters. It is forever changing and still to this day we’re mesmerised by its captivating beauty, it is a wonder we’ve managed to get any work done!  We’re lucky to call this paradise home, our second home. On days off we enjoy dog walks along the beach as well as hiking and mountain biking in the national parks. We love nothing more than sharing this wonderful place with our guests and hearing all about their adventures.
