Coast & Castles Cycle Route

The Coast and Castles Cycle Route is a scenic route which covers 192 miles between Newcastle and Edinburgh, with 85 miles lying along the stunning Northumberland coastline. The route is mostly flat, and offers amazing views of the coast, magnificent castles and fantastic heritage.

Stay at: The Quarterdeck. A storage unit is available along with 2 bikes to use during your stay.

Alnmouth & Warkworth route

Connecting two of Northumberlaand’s most popular coastal villages, this scenic route runs for a total distance of 10.5 miles. Take in the historic Warkworth castle, lovely beaches and explore the peaceful villages before heading back to your holiday home. The route is 50% cycle path (off road) and 50% quiet lanes, which is perfect for beginners.

Kielder Forest Cycle Routes

Situated in the heart of Northumberland, Kielder Water and Forest Park is the perfect place to explore, from the 250 mile man-made lake to the largest forest in England. There’s lots of cycle routes around Kielder, from the family-friendly Borderline trail to the more adventurous trail – The Bloody Bush – making this the ideal spot for all abilities and ages.

Sandstone Way Cycle Route

Straddling the border of Northumberland, the Sandstone Way is a 120-mile route that takes you from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Hexham, through a trail of pretty forests and traditional towns. Discover Northumberland’s history along the way, passing ancient sites and changing landscape on this truly memorable route.
