A stylish, contemporary cottage in the Northumberland village of Bamburgh, this sizeable holiday home is perfect for that group getaway. Sleeping eight guests, and welcoming four-legged friends, it is well situated for the local shops and eateries and just 0.5 miles from the sandy beach. Swim, surf or picnic in the dunes at the beautiful beach. From here, stride out for 3 miles along the Northumberland Coast Path to Seahouses, with its shops, eateries and harbour with seal and puffin cruises, as well as trips out to the Farne Islands. Stroll 350 metres from the cottage to visit the Grace Darling Museum or 0.5 miles to explore Bamburgh Castle, often described as England’s finest coastal fortress. This dramatic building famously appeared as Bebbanburg in the TV show The Last Kingdom. Plan a day trip to the charming market town of Alnwick, 16.5 miles away, to discover the historic castle there too.

Open the front door and step into the hall to discover bright, airy accommodation arranged across three storeys. Hang your jackets and slip off your shoes before wandering through to the lounge, with its subtle, coastal colour scheme, to sink back into a comfortable chair or soft sofa. Light the wood burner in here, then catch up on everyone’s news or find a good movie on the Smart TV. Bi-folding doors from the lounge can be pulled back onto the kitchen/diner to bring a sense of increased flow and easy living between the two ground-floor spaces. There is also a second lounge or snug, with an additional TV, plus a DVD player and DVDs to choose from, that the younger members of your party might enjoy. The chic kitchen/diner encompasses everything you are likely to need to help you prepare your holiday meals. Cook up a feast, pull a bottle of chilled white wine from the fridge, then gather round the table to dine. There is also a handy breakfast bar in here for light meals and snacks. Pull the bi-folding doors back onto the south-facing garden to create seamless indoor/outdoor living on warm days. There is also a handy utility room and a downstairs WC. Your inviting bedrooms are arranged over the upper storeys of the house. These include one super-king-size, with an en-suite bathroom, and two king-sizes on the first floor. One king-size room has beds that can also be made up as 2’ 6” singles, if discussed in advance, and one has an en-suite shower room. These gorgeous bedrooms all offer superb storage. There is also an immaculate family bathroom. Another twin room, with a sloped ceiling and skylight windows, is on the top floor.

Soak up the sunshine out in the neat courtyard garden, where there is a patio and a small lawn. Grill on the BBQ, dine under the stars and let your delighted dog wander about. There is private, off-road parking for three cars, plus a bike rack, to the front of the cottage.

Perfectly positioned in Bamburgh . Marram house offered the perfect place for 3 generations. We made good use of the space . The new walled garden and cafe over the road was a big hit with the children aged 13 and 23 months and with the adults . We ate out at the Lord Crewe and Potted Lobster. Located very centrally in Bamburgh (3 doors down from the famous Potted Lobster restaurant), this is a lovely house which immediately felt like home for the time we stayed there. The owners had kindly left a little welcome pack - milk, bread, wine - all very welcome indeed after a long journey and having arrived late in to the evening. The back garRead moreden is a nice little sun trap for sunny days. The beds were comfortable and the children's play room was really nice for the children to have their own space. Aged 3 to 80, plus dogs 1 and 8, we soon settled into Marram House. Its a family home as if the owners have just popped out - very well equipped including childrens toys and books which were much enjoyed at 6am (quietly!!). Really good kitchen and dining room across the back of the house, and separate utility room. Sleeping soundly upstairs, the owRead moreners made us all feel very welcome indeed. A minute or two from Bamburgh centre and maybe 5 minutes to the beach - if we didnt stop at the childrens playground on the way. Extensive walks from the door and excellent location for coastal exploration from Berwick to Alnwick as well as inland to the Coquet valley and Cheviots. We all climbed up to the Drake Stone - a particular highlight - returning in the sunset to our lovely holiday home. Of course, good places to eat all around, unbeatable coast and magnificent castles (Bamburgh particularly splendid, but the others good too). Thank you! Hide
